Oh my goodnesssss!!!! So I worked as a residence counselor for a pre-college program at Jhu this past summer and our program was housed in McCoy floors 1-4! I’m from Atlanta and this is LITERALLY the video I needed before flying out there😂 I’m talking you have allll the details! I def would’ve loved having this, but it’s great that now future jhu pre-college and undergrads can find this vid and get the info on McCoy and just how FREAKING HUGE campus is.
I went to Hopkins in the early 90s and I’ve never been back for a visit. Thanks to your video I was able to feel like I was back there again. Thank you!!
I remember the good ole days of JHU students going to Royal Farms at night for fried chicken, because that was the only place open at night and close to campus.
This is the most informative video I've seen yet as an incoming first year student. I have a question about housing. How do you recommend I rank the housing options and room preferences on the housing application? Thanks! Great video!
Thanks! It really depends on what you want for housing. If you want traditional dorm style housing I would say a double in AMR 1 or 2 (AMR 2 is the "social dorm" so it gets loud at night), and if you want suite style housing then Wolman or McCoy or AMR 3 but I will say my McCoy double is the biggest one out of everyone's dorms I've seen. I ranked McCoy double first, then Wolman double, then AMR 3 double, AMR 1 double (I don't remember exactly but you get the gist). Singles in a suite are also pretty nice since you're not completely isolated but you get your own space but it's less common than doubles.
@@andy2323 I think Wolman and AMR 3 are the more competitive I know some people in the AMRs who got their last choice so I think it's possible to have bad luck but usually I hear people got what they wanted...?
Question, dor breakfast they change the food I mean breakfast time they can have pancakes and that kinda stuff and then lunch time its different stuff in the same dining hall or how that works?
Yeah breakfast is from 7-10 ish, lunch is from 11-2, and dinner is from 5-8, late-night food is from 9-12am (times vary if it's a weekend and depending on the dining hall) and in between those times there are still food options but more limited. Nolan's serves all-day breakfast though.
Great video :) Im an admitted incoming freshman and I’m having trouble deciding between UF, Wash U, and JHU. Is there any way I can contact you or a recent/current alum with the extensive list of questions I have about the school through like email or dm?? Thank you so much 😅
Easily Physics 2. If you’ve taken Physics Mechanics credit in high school, I would recommend retaking that class at Hopkins just to get used to how Physics is taught, unless you’re very confident in your work ethic.
hiii im a junior in hs who’s about to apply to colleges soon in the fall. do you mind asking your friend bethel how the neuroscience major at jhu is like? i hope to double major in neuroscience and film. are the neuroscience classes hard to get into like are there too many ppl in the lectures? thank you so much for this vlog too like it was so authentic :)
I think some classes are hard to get into but overall things work out eventually. The intro classes that everyone has to take (ex. intro chem) always have a ton of people (like over 100 maybe?) but I feel like that's kinda the nature of every stem major at most schools
sweety Julia , hi. :D My daughter will be coming to Jhons Hopkins for training next summer. We are considering the houses of the hospital and its surroundings for accommodation. Are there any places you can recommend?
Sorry I don't know much about the area around the hospital since I'm located on the Homewood campus. If you have questions about housing near Homewood I would be happy to help though!
Hmm this is vague but I guess don't be generic? And also be very very specific about "why hopkins" like research specific things that are personal to you. I wrote my personal statement about rock climbing and problem solving, and I wrote my supplement about makeup/face-art and self-exploration if that gives you any ideas haha
@@iwxquii There were some descriptive, narrative elements but also there were more logical parts that were specific and tied the narrative back to my identity or Johns Hopkins.
I sent this video to my daughter is on the fence regarding applying Early Decision, however, after talking to her, she already decided to apply. I wonder (hope? that...) if she'll get accepted... 🙄
If you're on the fence don't come lol (but I love the people here and research opportunities are great, but it's definitely the kind of school where people have fun but also are very focused on school work or applying to med school etc.)
I just dont like the classrooms why are Lectures not in like government assembly type of room like circular continuos chair. I feel like im in high school with those regular boring chairs😭 10:31
I've been bining JHU videos as of lately and this was the best one yet. Excited to experience all of this starting in the fall !
Yayyy so excited for you!

Honestly really well put together video. Learned a lot about JHU and it played a role in crafting my University list. Keep up the good work!

I'm about to commit to hopkins so thank you for this video it made me excited to join in the fall!
I just submitted my ED1 app yesterday, and this video is making me excited! Thank you sm!
This video was really helpful in helping me decide if I wanted this on my list of colleges I should go to when I graduate high school.
Great video! Keep up the great work and hope you have a good time at Hop

Haha now I'm curious about what England is like 🤔
GAAADAAAMNN, just applied ED phewww, pretty nerve-racking I tell you.
I dont think I'll be not-nervous for a long time now.....

Thank you for sharing !! How is the BME major for Grace? What is her most difficult and interesting class if you don't mind me asking?
BME is when you wake up, study, study, eat, study, then go to bed at 2 am. :3
