Ask Steve Howe if he's going to do any more solo albums or solo tours.
Did you try an explorer in that display case? Also if you could ask Steve Howe what was his favorite rig to tour with. Didn't you have another one of his guitars at one time. I'll bet it would be awesome to have them displayed together. If you could ask him what he thought was the biggest difference between the two guitars besides the appointments. One other thing . If you ever come across a 60-70s Drifter Stratocaster modified are not vould you at least give it a look. Back then they were cheap alternatives to Fender of course. Some people swore by them in stock condition. Some more or less turned them in to parts casters replacing some parts with upper end fender parts .
Tp6 tailpiece & harmonica bridge 🚫
Please ask Steve if he'll collaborate with Gibson again on new signature guitars like his ES345, his L5S or like his aborted signature model from the late 70s! Also, please ask about the guitars he used during the Tormato period, this THE Les Paul was featured and the are some pics of him with an RD around that time too!
Congratulations on scoring that Steve Howe interview. It must feel great when you find out an artist like that has viewed and enjoyed your content. How cool!!
At first I read this as “ Congratulations on that Steve Harvey interview”. 😂 I was so confused. 😂
Ask Steve what his collection looks like now…does he still own the 2 hollow double neck Gibsons? Love his book as well.
Hey Trogly! Congratulations on both getting The Les Paul Back and scoring a Steve Howe interview! If you can, ask Steve if he also used the guitar on the Asia albums (Asia and Astra).
What a guitar... it's fantastic that Howe reached out to you and is willing to talk--he's absolutely one of the best of the best of the best. You're not just documenting history--you get to help make a little of it yourself. You deserve that.
If I were to have an opportunity to ask Steve Howe a question it would be to tell about his history of playing classical guitar, and how it effected his rock/pop playing styles.
Ask Steve Howe about his use of Line 6 Variax modeling guitars. I frequently use mine when I need sounds my other guitars don’t have. I’ve seen him approach one mounted on a stand for certain parts of Yes songs.
I started with the original Variax 500 and now use the Plus. I also have the long-discontinued Variax Bass and Variax Acoustic.
Which model are you using? I have a variax standard, don't use it that much to be honest.
@@spiceybadger I use the Variax Standard, mostly for rehearsals with the cover band I’m in so I can bring just one guitar. I’ve used it in performance from time to time, especially if our sets includes Wichita Lineman; I’d use it to fill in for a Bass VI; however I recently bought an actual Bass VI, so will use that going forward.
I also have the long-discontinued Variax Bass and Variax Acoustic, which get occasional use.
Anyone wanna buy my old original Variax, later renamed Variax 500?
That's the one that's based on the yamaha pacifica right? If so I have one and unfortunately have struggled to love it. Also it's really heavy!
Ask Steve what gauge and brand of strings he prefers. Also, Steve is my favorite name 'cause it's mine, too.
This is such a historic instrument. I was not happy that you sold it a few years ago. Can’t wait to see it in the museum.
Can't wait for that interview!
Ask Steve how he got the guitar and why he sold it? Thanks Trog
good job Trogly, glad you got her back.
looking forward to the interview .
What songs/riffs did he write on this guitar
A LOT of Tormato songs!! I CAN'T WAIT to finally hear him talk about that period in the band's history!!
10:00 Austin you are a very generous human for doing that.
A lot of people wouldn’t have helped.
I look forward to being able to buy something from you in the future.
That beautiful Blue SG @ 10:09 was a sight to behold. 😎 Badass. Even the pickups are blue. 🤟🏻
Excellent and Congrats Austin, so glad this TLP has returned to you and your family (this guitar is with good company).
Would be good to know what was Steve Howe's favorite feature/part of TLP #26.
👍👍👍👍👍😉
Will definitely be looking forward to that interview, please ask him how his creativity in writing a song early in his career has changed compared to his playing style currently. Awesome guitar Trogly 💯
Steve Howe's LP is definitely one of my favorite guitars thats ever appeared on this channel!
Hey T, great episode. Plz ask Steve Howe what is his favorite iconic guitar solo of his many incredible solos. Thx!
Case lining for the backing does look super cool!
If I were picking questions for a Steve Howe interview, the only one I would ask relating to his equipment arsenal is if he is still using a Line 6 Variax in 2024 or if he's reverted to his earlier arsenal of multiple guitars. I would really like to know from him how he chooses between playing with plectra versus his fingers, myself being a guitar and bass player who is exclusive to his fingers.
Man Trogly, this episode made me realize how long you have been around, and how long I've been watching!
Keep on keeping on
I was sooooo bummed when I saw the goodbye video. So glad to see You are reunited with the one of the coolest Les Paul's ever ..... SMART MOVE OF SMART MOVES Troglyman!!!! Ask Steve Howe how he rates that guitar versus his other Gibson's. Or how many Les Paul's he has owned. And or how he compares it to his other guitars (Gibson or not etc.)....
? Most memorable live performance with this guitar, maybe song and place?
Great to see the Steve Howe TLP back and the Super Standard too! the latteris probably my favourite guitar so far!
The “the Les Paul” in wine red has been one of my very favorite LPs and videos. I love all the wooden appointments
I'm a huge Yes fan. And I'm happy to see one of the members instruments in such good hands. Now all you need is one of Chris Squire's Fenders or Rickenbackers.
Glad that TLP is back with you. Being known for Norlin era Gibson's, it feels only natural for you to have this in your collection. Hoping to see it in the museum some day!
Steve Howe's guitar. I'm with you. ...It's also beautiful. Stunning in fact. One of my Holy Grail guitars belonged to someone I knew in the early 70s, and he was a great player. He later passed away. Years later, another friend and I were instrument hunting, and on the same day at the same shop, I found a mid 70s Jazz bass, and he got my old friend's '59 Gibson Melody Maker. I first saw it on the wall, and commented on what it was. He asked to play it and did, then handed it to me. I strummed a few chords on that sweet neck. He then asked if it came with a case, and what was brought out was the case with my old friend's band name stenciled on it. It was the SAME guitar. Fast forward.... it's now mine, almost another 20 years later. I'm primarily a bass player, but I promised to teach him the regionally famous guitar riff song written on it. That's what I've always wanted to do- play THAT song on THAT guitar. Now.... the REAL Holy Grail is another friend's guitar. The '54 Junior I watched him develop into a brilliant guitarist on as we played in a (not typical) punk band in the late 70s. We'll see if I can get my hands on that one. HIS Junior, not just any one. Enough about my guitar escapades. Please DON'T sell Howe's guitar again. Play it.
I shorted out my laptop from the drool over Steve's Les Paul there. Steve Howe and YES are THE reason I picked up a guitar for the first time in my life in the early 1970's. I wore the stylus out on my turntable playing Yes records over and over. Wow.🤩
I remember being in awe of this Les Paul when I first saw your video back in the day. It inspired me to start building guitars.
So I went to the banjo museum in OK City.. being a Gibson man you really owe it to yourself to see the craftsmanship on their custom banjos... as a guitar player I was blown away 🤯
Great scoop.
What is his favourite guitar? Who does he rate as players today?
Good luck.
For Steve Howe, I would love to know what he thought of Rick Wakeman’s unorthodox rock and roll hall of fame speech. Steve did the best speech of the lot but what followed, I got the impression he wasn’t so fond of it but I would like to know what he actually thought/felt about it.
Glad to see Steve's The Paul is with you! Here's my question for Steve. His go-to guitar during the classic Yes years was an ES-175, and then he used Les Pauls during his stint with Asia. After Asia ended, what guitar or guitars did he gravitate toward for his later work?
That super standard video is what got me into your channel, so cool that you got it back
Oh, you got it back! Nice catch, now THIS is collection material.
I saw Yes back in the 70s for the Yessongs tour, one of the best concerts ever!
I have a unique question: Steve, today's modern songwriting writing credits now include "Guitar Riffs" - of which you have created many. Back in the day, did you always receive partial songwriting credit for your "Riff" creation on songs? For example: Machine Messiah (Drama) has great guitar riffs, but you do not have a songwriting credit. What other songs would you think you should have a credit using today's standard?
That Steve Howe LP is just so gorgeous. Remember that video well of the review and yeah, its still equally gorgeous! Nice you got it back!
That Super Standard reminds me so much of pictures of the Tasmanian Tiger I have seen. The wood even on the neck and the "stripes" are vivid!
That black and red binding looks so good!
Can you ask steve what inspired the album cover art? I would love that. Nice video btw, love the guitar.
Yes!!! Please ask Steve Howe if he is classically trained and if so who was his teacher
The Rockonteurs (Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt) did a great podcast with Steve a few weeks ago where he talked about his musical upbringing. Definitely no classical training and no mention of any teachers either. He mentions not knowing any scales and just noodling whatever sounded good so I suspect he was completely self taught. He did mention one instruction book he had, "Dance Band Chords for the Guitar" by Eric Kershaw.
Your love of guitars is contagious Thank you 🙏
Damn beautiful guitar there , star power & all , I'de love to see an Ebony version of that style , with a ' Dog Hair ' finish and nickle hardware , or a ES-355 done up like that . Thanks Trogly !
I am so stoked! That is the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever seen! I’m so glad you got it back to keep it in the family and I will visit it in your museum to see it one day! Thank you for getting it back! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
im so glad you got it back!
There was a 1978 the Les Paul at Rudy’s in Manhattan when I was there a few months ago if someone is looking for one. It wasn’t a darker version like this, but I remember it being a tight thin ultra flamey top
Oh man, this brings me back to when I watched you videos in like 2018-2020. The Super Standard is probably my favorite looking Les Paul I've seen.
Gutsy move to check it as luggage on a plane. Even with that priority sticker the try to throw it as hard as they can.
I did that with a sub $500 guitar in a Fender-style tweed case, wrapped in luggage wrap and equipped with shock-sensors... all of them triggered and the wrap had lots of rips. Also had the fancy priority sticker and lots of 'Fragile' stickers. Case and guitar survived fine, but they definitely tried.
They can't force you to check it if there is overhead space. So priority boarding would get you that. Also, there's ALWAYS a closet. Just gotta know how to ask.
The SG that's leaving is so damn beautiful. Actually all the SG's in this video are stunning.
Congrats on landing that Steve Howe interview!
Can you ask Steve about his custom four pickup Les Paul? Wiring, what songs he used it on, etc.?
That one is on the list for sure!
Hey Trogly !,
The from Casino Guitars got a jump on you !!
They have the Slash L P Jessica !!
Great story Trogly , found this channel during 2020 …. Glad you have YOUR TLP back ! 🎸
Congrats on getting The Paul back.
Wow, I was 14 years old when I went to my first concert in 1972. It was Yes featuring Rick Wakeman with Poco opening the show. I'm 65, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Steve and the band were fantastic. To have his piece is beyond belief, congratulations
Right on Trogoly. Could you please ask Steve Howe what his inspiration for his composition of Mood for the Day . Congrats ,love your content ,keep it coming ?
Oh man, that quilted nam show sg looked so nice 😢
Love that Wine Red The Les Paul! I’ve got an ‘07 Epi. Les Paul Custom, a ‘22 Jerry Cantrell Wino Les Paul, and a ‘22 Gibson Les Paul Studio-all three in Wine Red! Love ‘em.
The irony of the Reverb ad before this video that starts “ making music does not have to be expensive …” 😇
So glad that the iconic guitar of this channel is back
I have one. Its about his ES-175. What was special or unique about using that guitar for rock. Pros and Cons.
I would like to hear you ask Steve if while he considered looks before playability or vice versa. Or if it was like, make it beautiful and he will make it sound better later? Something to that effect.
Steve Howe is my all-time #1 favorite guitarist. I had no idea about it until you just mentioned this was his guitar. Just amazing. thank you for sharing this.
Congratulations on the purchase❤❤
I NEED my Les Paul Standard to have one of those fine tuner bridge/tail pieces, seems like a good upgrade
They are available! Search "Gibson TP-6 Tailpiece"
Yeah , Steve when you first seen this guitar were you instantly in love with it, like the rest of have .
Awesome! Other than the Aldo Nova those are my favorite Les Pauls of yours
Great choice! Looking forward to the Steve Howe interview! Question for Steve...After all the innovations in Guitars, does he still favor the hollowbodies the most? Favorite woods, necks, bridges, frets, favorite pick-up??? Great job Bro! 😃👍
Your job is so cool I want to start a guitar repair/ flipping business someday
Congrats brother! The guitar is amazing. Getting to talk to Steve is...I have no words. I do have a little Steve story tho. Steve in the late 70s and through the 80's was my all time favorite guitarist. I loved YES and his epic work with them. Anyway, A close friend of mine who was a drummer and owned a pretty major recording studio ran into Steve. I forget where, it might have been The Power Station studio in NYC. He was friends with those guys. My buddy told Steve that I was a guitarist and how much I admired him. So, Steve pulled a promo photo off the studio wall they had up of him and he signed it for me. He said "Keep on playin Rob", and his signature. That blew me away. Thats Steve! Enjoy the experience!
Brilliant!! I'm absolutely delighted you got it (the TLP) back, cos I was amazed and dumbfounded when you sold it. Of ALL the guitars in your collection, that's possibly the ONLY one that'd be an "always & forever" piece for me - provenance aside; it's just a stunning, stunning guitar...
Wel done, dude! 😀
Such a beautiful Les Paul! And owned by Steve Howe! Pricless!
Very cool, you seem to lead a charmed life Trogly, gee who gets guitars like this one? Dig this wine red '76 job, beautiful, love the timber knobs also
That quilt sg was stellar !
Very beautiful guitar. I'm impressed Trogly, Nice job on this one.
that namm sg is incredible. definetly try to get it back eventually!!!!!
Yes I absolutely love the super standard and it’s my dream guitar. Someday I’ll get a super custom reissue or a made to measure super standard. I like the super standard more than the super custom’s including the first one that you found recently. I’m so happy that you got it back with The “Howe” Paul for your collection and future museum 😊
❤❤You did Good!!! Happy picking. A beautiful LP.
I love Steve Howe's instrumental....." The Clap".....if you never heard it...look it up !
I love that case. (The Steve Howe guitar). I'm a case fanatic.
The Oxblood Artist series cases are very cool!
She’s baaaaaaackkkk!
That super standard is RAD. It’s everything I wish my Les Paul Artist was.
Trogly id love to hear your comentary on the new custom shop Artisan video on the "Gibson Gear Guide" channel!!!
You have such amazing collection ❤
I've got a Gibson SG (I think) that was given to me used around 1974. What's different about it is that it only has two knobs (vs four). Any idea what it might be? Thanks
Theres a video of Steve playing this guitar on You Tube. It’s an interview done years ago about his guitars. Type in Steve Howes Guitar Collection.
Thats the British collecting program. There is a vid of him playing the 4 pickup custom too
Looking forward to the Steve Howe interview.
That guitar is actually in the Asia video quite a bit. There was a better view of that inlay later in the video. Very cool.
I remember that guitar. When you first bought😮 it. And the video.
You can ask Steve if he remembers his dry cleaner (Dupres) in the 70s in Hampstead!
I just noticed it has my bday on Howe’s guitar but a few years older though (6yrs).
Why did he get rid of it? Did he custom order it?
Congrats on getting it back again. I'm sure this question is already on the list. If not, why did Steve get rid of his guitar ?
Which guitar did Steve use to play the outro solo on Siberian Khatru? Is there more to the solo that will ever be released? the song fade at that point has long been my frustration in not hearing more of this gorgeous and inspired playing.🙂
On recent tours, Steve has been playing a Gibson ES-Artist which is like a 335 but with active pickups and the RD Moog-designed electronics. His has double pickguards which you sometimes see on other ES guitars but seem to be unique to his Artist. I don't really have a question, I just want him to talk about that guitar. :)
Awesome TLP! I couldn't believe you sold it when you did, glad she's back unharmed! Ask Steve, who was predominantly a 335 player, why did he switch up to the TLP? Was he chasing a tone, or looking for a new image for the Asia project that was different from his Yes years? Just curious and keep up the great content.
I would like to know if he (and the other guys on Yes) were aware of Roundabout's new found popularity thanks to it going viral via the Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure anime, and how he (and/or the band) feels about it.
Trogly, I'd be interested in asking Steve his check list when evaluating a new guitar purchase and what he considers the most important thing of all that must be there or nothing else matters and how all that figured into this Les Paul.
Best regards, Rock Doc (Bob)
Nice headstock, pick guard and knobs
That is an incredible find. I saw Yes play at MSG in the late 70s and high 5ved them on their way to the stage. Question, is the wood there because Steve couldn't stand not seeing Wood? I love the headstock and the pickup rings. How much did he have to do with that? Thanks T man really enjoy your reviews Cheers!
