This tutorial has been a huge game changer for me. I was never able to create good effects before in photoshop because I did not know how to make an effective blending tool. Thank you so much!
I'm not sure what I have wrong but my brush did not look like yours with all the same settings you had. On top of that when I click smudge and right click it changes It to brush. So what was the point of hitting smudge? Lastly, it didn't smudge or blend it only painted whatever the last color I had used was.
Go to the brush settings and re-save a new version of the brush shape but when the naming window pops up, make sure to un-check 'include tool settings'. because if you the save the tool settings it forces you to always use the brush tool.
Im using photoshop 2019 and after i made my smudge brush and I click the smudge tool button, and i select the brush i made the program changes to simple brush from smudge tool:c
Go to the brush settings and re-save a new version of the brush shape but when the naming window pops up, make sure to un-check 'include tool settings'. because if you the save the tool settings it forces you to always use the brush tool.
When I select the blur tool, and then right-click to select the saved brush, PS deselcts the blur tool and selects the brush tool again. It seems I can't use my saved brush in the blur tool???
Hey, when you select the smudge tool, if you right click it should show you your custom made brushes, usually the most recent made brush is the last one there. Hope that helps
@@SketchedbySte I mean they use two layers the original and another to blend and when they blend they use a new layer, not directly but in my case that doesn't work, I can only work on the original layer. If you how know to fix it, help me please.
The softer edges you use the blurrier the effect in a sense I suppose, unless I misunderstood what you meant? Try the same method with a hard brush vs a soft brush and see which you prefer and how it changed the blur look.
when on your brush tool (B on the keyboard) right click anywhere on your canvas to brush up your brushes, it's just the basic 'hard round' brush in Photoshop, usually the first brush on there I think!
lol I wish I could but unfortunately a lot of them are ones I have purchased off of other artists over the last 10 years or so. Honestly I don't use 99% of them

that seems strange! When you say simple brush, do you mean it just won't let you select the smudge brush? Does it let you use any other brushes?
yeah i have the same problem! it changes to normal brush and i have no idea how to turn it to smudge brush..

@@SketchedbySte yes.

When I choose the smudge tool to try the created brush, it automatically back to the brush tool. It didn't work for me.

thank you bro🙏🏾
No problem :D
I¡ve seen other artist that used other layer to use the smudge tool, I tried it but I can't, do you know the reason? I am using Cs6.
hey, do you mean they blend on one layer and it effects / blends things on the layer below too?
@@SketchedbySte I mean they use two layers the original and another to blend and when they blend they use a new layer, not directly but in my case that doesn't work, I can only work on the original layer. If you how know to fix it, help me please.
@@emaonoa You mentioned you have seen other artists do it, could you possibly send a link and I will take a look?
You saved me
you're welcome
i don't see the smudge tool on my photoshop
what options do you have? it might show as a smudge, blur or sharpen tool down the left, which you can then right click? Let me know
What app did u use
I'm using Photoshop (Adobe) :)
Whats the shortcut for it
For the blending tool? Surprisingly I don't think it actually has one but in Photoshop you can set up your own action keys so that might be an option?
It's giving me blur effect

I can’t turn scattering on :/
Hmm that's strange, is it just blanked out?
learningasidraw yeah
wheres the brush??
