It seems as though at least in the United States,that there is some sort of a "character defect' suspected of the person whose health problems are symptomatic in a behavioral manner. Made me think of the scene in Stepford Wives, when Katharine Ross' character Joanna stabbed the other character Bobbie she thought was her friend, but was robotic.
