J'ai découvert Wim Mertens incidemment, par le biais d'une publicité...Sa musique est une envolée vers l'ailleurs...Splendide !

Birds are for the heart, the freedom of the heart. One small bird taught me unconditional love. When you see the concentrated energy, intelligence, intuition, sweetness, desire and perfection in a 18 g little being, your mind gets perplexed and the heart takes over fully. The mind gives up, it's not her domain.

I found about Mertens music some twenty years ago, I was a late teenager and heavy metal was my kind of music at that time, I remenber to have thought, woah this is something very peculiar and distinctive, and hell I really like it!! To this day I have been listening to Mertens music with awe, pride and feeling a very intimal feeling of discovery on every piece. On every ocasion I have met or recognied another private Mertens listener, we out of words felt we were proud of being so.

PROUD THIS IS A BELGIAN MUSICIAN, A BELGIAN TREASURE…But still too much unknown for the wider world… Great music Wim…as always. Wish I had been there in Tenerife…what a sound the orchestra creates with your compositions.

Impossible not to associate this very piece to "The belly of an architect" a film by Peter Greenaway of the 90s ; P Greenaway quite always asked his music scores to Mickael Nyman (beginning with "Meurtres dans un jardin anglais" / "The draughtsman contract"), but that time, he asked Wim, and this was a successful choice as well as a perfect match…
Un gran y merecido exito fue esta noche en Tenerife, bravo !

@@MCFC111 I don't think Greenaway's movies were half as enjoyable without a good score from Nyman or Wertens, they both have a similar technique of playing with melody hooks, like Philip Glass also, but they all are their own thing in the end.

    Flock to an impossible journey,
Course and set beyond the bold.
Through cold and heat and wrath that build,
Soar once more the sentence has yield.
Birds for the mind, ascend to the air,
Glorious wind that breathe such dare.
