When Pac mentioned “2 shots in the dark and now Huey’s dead” he was referencing Huey Newton, black panther cofounder. Tupacs mom was also part of the black panthers.

Eminem called Tupac hip hop's greatest storyteller, and he was one of Em's greatest influences. Tupac was a visionary, the way he acted and people he aligned himself with sometimes contradicted the vision he had of changing society for the better. To paraphrase his own words "I'm not saying that I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee I will spark the mind that will the change the world." If only he had a little more time...

The fact that this song is twenty years old, Tupac wrote it when he was 19 and it was released in 1992 (remixed 1998), is profound because we still face the same issues twenty years later which makes it kind of sad. Very little to nothing has changed. His reference to Huey, is Huey P Newton, a revolutionary and co-founder of the Black Panther Party. His mother Afeni Shakur Davis was an activist and former member of the Black Panther Party. Also in his lyrics, Tupac says, "Although it seems heaven-sent, ain't ready to see a black president," from 2008 - 16, in my opinion having a Black President seemed to divide us as a nation not bring us together. So he was right, we weren't ready. Tupac (2Pac) Shakur was definitely a poet, philosopher, and prophetic in his music about his life and his experiences living in America.

Tupac is legendarily Iconic . Tupac painted scenes in ink ....subject matter to make you think...... U should listen to... Brenda's Got a Baby...He's painting the reality he knows...and can do it like no one else I know... Wow, asking how Eminem feels about Tupac… haha I love it! Eminem saw him, Biggie, and just about all the original lyricists and the reason he started in Hip-Hop and he references how the art form and black people saved his life growing up. I love how much you’re learning. Eminem is more advanced, but it’s a bit unfair. Biggie and Tupac passed before they were able to adapt to the lyrical climate. I really hope you’re able to get around to the songs I’ve requested. Let me know if you need them again and I’ll be happy to add them to this comment. Great job!

I feel like I'm watching you figure out deeper meanings that have literally shaped my personality, politics, and mindset. Over 20 years I'm still learning to explain the socio-economic factors that are evident in the song. Apart from the 2 lines about mobile phones and a black president, this song could be realeased today and still hit just as hard. I'm excited to see you gain perspective that has shaped me, and countless others of my generation. "Things will never be the same", so let's continue making changes for the better- for Tupac, for ourselves, and our borthers and sisters of every walk of life. Keep it up Larry.

Another great video! This is one of my top favourite songs! It's another one that taught this white Canadian girl from suburbia so much about America....
Sadly, it's still way too relevant today.. 20 years later.. 🥺
When Obama won the election, I cried even though I'm not American, because his winning made me immediately think of Pac and I wondered how he would feel knowing it actually happened.
I do urge you to listen to this without this video version. This video distracted listeners from the chorus and some other parts of the verses. You don't get the full effect of the song.

Seems like the song was incomplete. Or maybe you had to skip ahead to avoid censorship or something?
Also, when he's talking about not being responsible for everything every other black male does, it's in response to the media blaming him and his music for violent events. There was a whole cancel Tupac movement because he spoke on taboo topics like the government letting colombian cartels introduce crack into the black neighborhoods in order to create that collective panic America needs every now and then. I know it's very political and I totally respect that you wish to keep your channel a neutral zone, but that is basically what happened to him and other black rappers who used their music to let people outside the ghetto know what was going on inside.
Anyways, I love that you took the time to listen to his music. Just like with Eminem, as you listen to more and more of his music you'll get a grasp on what his message was and how he got to that legend status at such a young age. Love your videos💖💖💖

Your reactions are so perfect. Tupac was a profound individual. He caught my attention in a way no other rappers did to me. I respect every artist. But he was special. You should try ghetto gospel by Tupac and Elton John. It's very good.

I love love seeing ppls reactions to these kinds of songs. Growing up soooo many rappers were known for the bad stuff bc that's what the media showed... Seeing y'all reacting a seeing them as artists and actually hearing their lyrics. I know I commented before if you haven't saw his movie All Eyes on Me, you definitely need to! Alot of ppl didn't realize how smart he was. Street smart and book smart.

Crazy how this is still so relevant years later, and also Eminem was a huge fan of Tupac, Afeni Shakur which is Tupac's mother even gave Eminem pieces of his writings, he also put together a track for Tupac and biggie as a commemorative song discussing the happening of their deaths

I love watching your reviews. You have great insight even without knowing the full back story. You bring up some good intelligent points. When I see you discover a part of the song thats moving or on a deeper level it gives me goosebumps! Tupac and Eminem are very alike. They are more like poets than rappers.

2Pac was one of if not the most influential artist in hip hop BUT he was so much more than that. The things he did for the community were unmatched. He instituted "thug life" that had very clear rules. He even ended several disputes between rival gangs. Just an incredible human!

You really cant unless you in the same shoes that's why I love pac because everthing he said decades ago in his song still be going on right now 2022 we still struggle and we make decisions that always end with a bad ending but people from the projects just tired of being broke going to sleep hungry at night so they would probably do anything for just even a little bit money

I think the video skipped the part where he says something along the lines of: "and I always gotta worry about the playback, from the guy that I roughed up way back". Seems like a short line, but is deeper than it appears. Awesome reaction as always!
Edit: I also think this version skipped the part of: "-I made a G today.
-But you made it in a sleazy way. Selling crack to the kids.
    -I gotta get paid.
-But hey, that's the way it is."
I may have just missed these 2, but I felt like they were an important aspect to the song, and have no idea why they excluded them...

    I LOVE your reactions ❤️
I wish my parents would listen to some of those songs, that I loved and grew up on for so many years- but their English is not good enough for them to appreciated the lyrics. They won't be able to relate to it as well as you do, but i think they could understand it to some level... because they too had a really really hard life growing up here in Israel, and fighting too many wars, living in poverty and hunger because back then there was no food in Israel. But it was the 1950-1960 and they lived in tents with tar roofs, because there were not enough houses in Israel nor building materials. I don't know if they'll understand the getto and drugs selling, but i bet they can understand the poverty and hunger...
Anyway, it’s fascinating watching your videos.
The "not guilty " thing in the video is about when 2pac was accused of rape, and he denied it. In an interview he explained how much appreciation he has to his mother and to black women, that he would never hurt a woman or rape one, it insulted him that people would think that of him with all the respect he had for his mother and for women. So that's the "not guilty" background. 🙂

Eminem calls Pac the greatest Rapper of all time. So does the rest of the World.
Tupac was more than an artist. Tupac Shakur was a movement, like the 1960s.
He took on Congress. That's how big he was.
He was SO big, that even in death he kept his spirit alive. Some say he was born too die young. He wasn't supposed too be with us for a lifetime. He came. He touched the world. He left us.
    I'm still sad decades later.
He is the Elvis of the Hip Hop World.
I'm happy too watch your reactions. I'm glad you feel him like we all do.
Watch him in the movie Gridlock, with Tim Roth. He's also played alongside James Belushi, Janet Jackson, etc. He was well on his way too Hollywood stardom as well. Hollywood saw his talent and he can act his ass off too. When he died, many scripts had too be rewritten because they were meant for him. He never made it.
Anyways, 5here are so many thing I could tell you but, time doesn't permit me too do so.
Again, I'm elated too see you taking the time too better know our culture.
    Props.
    Respect and Love Brother.

This is one of my favorite Tupac song's. It was one of the first I listened to when I was younger on the Greatest Hits album. It is however not a song Tupac made. The original song is called "I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto".
Changes was remixed from it after his death.

PAC is telling not just his story here, most of it isn’t his story, but he was able to coherently express what he perceives.. Everyone young black man was going through it, all around him and he put what he was seeing into such profound lyrics.
