They are good light duty blowers but don't hold up for commercial use. We bought a bunch of them and the crankcase fails on every one of them. The crankshaft bearings don't have enough support and after a while the case becomes enlarged, then the bearings become loose in the block and the crankshaft wobbles. That blows out the seal and it looses power or the flywheel impacts the ignition coil breaking the coil mounting bosses of the block. We tried to use a thin metal shim around the bearing to tighten it back down but that only lasted for a short time. The better blowers like the 500/600s never have this problem. A replacement block is about $240 and replacing it since it will just fail again.
Ok that's good to know. Are you using the Stihl 2 cycle oil in your equipment and at lease 89 octane gas ? If not I wonder if that will keep the bearing lubed good and not to fail.
@@bobcat1 I hope they did, they were spending a lot on a blower to have the motors fail so quickly. Once the case halves are out of round it's not really repairable. Have been using the 600s lately maybe will get another 450 is the dealers also say the motor is really better.
*Exactly what I expected from a brand like Hitachi **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend I’ve only had it a few weeks now, but really happy with what it does. I assume it’s like anything, if you take care of it, it will last along time.*
Solid machine for sure, but one problem I've been seeing a lot of people point out is the strap quality. It seems that they are very uncomfortable and tend to slip off your shoulders while using it. Have you experienced this problem?
Yes my son said that they need more padding and to be longer. But for how good it works this is not a big problem. "Stihl" a great machine. Thanks for watching
nice blower nice video,,,, but dang dad your kid buys a new blower, and you talk to him like he is an idiot, and direct his every move. Give the young man some respect.........
But regular gas with the ethanol is garbage. It seems to me the higher the octane the better in lawn equipment. They just start up and run better. Thanks for watching
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore higher octane 93 has the axact same amount of ethanol that 87 does. the only way to avoid ethanol gas is research your area for a station that has it. they are rare these days and hard to find .
I used to have a Stihl m s 350 now I got one just like that ms450 I love mine
I only run ethanol free gas in my outdoor power equipment. Nice video !
I wish I could get that in my area. Thanks for watching
89 octane ethanol free with the Stihl HP ultra oil runs great in mine!
If you have it available, I would recommend using 93 non ethanol fuel. Ethanol will gum up the caberater over time.
I can’t get that here where I live. I wish I could. Thanks for watching
I'm using non ethanol in mine.

That was the early version, Stihl has cured that issue now by redesigning the engine case, see wallys workin videos for updates to the BR450.

I have the same exact one
Love it .

Best review! I’m sold!
It's a really nice blower and have no problems with.
I have one and it’s hasn’t wanted to start even after I chocked it and trying to start it. Sucks!

Yes straps are uncomfortable
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore hello
I bought a chest strap from Amazon. It keeps the left shoulder strap from slipping off my shoulder.
Just got one myself
Nice blower! You're correct the STIHL BR450 fuel capacity is large at 57.5oz/1700CC ... can I borrow it sometime?
The Hardware store has one with you name on it.
Did you pay for it?
@@roberthartig5868 G jr did, he wanted it.
I am going to get one The cost of mine is 757.04 with tax and that is in Canadian dollars
My son loves it. Works great. Thanks for watching
Awesome

I was not talking to him like a idiot. If I do not "direct" him he will just want me to do it. I call this teaching.
I know it’s a nice blower but you really don’t need to use premium gas with it lol

@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore 93 still has ethereal just use ethenal treatment
@@agayway4103 The higher octane makes the blowers that I have run so much better. They are a lot easer to start.

Ear protectors needed for sure !
You and your son have the same voice I can’t tell who is talking
Yeah, the apple didn't fall far from that tree. He fools people all the time. Thanks for watching
How much did it cost
$450 to $550
Get some very good ear protection!
Sounds like a redmax
Why are trees stupid they know what you’ve been doing the whole time......

BR450 with electric start is the biggest piece of junk Stihl ever made! I'm on my second and it won't start on the electric starter. Don't touch!!
