My Impression+Opinion of Bedman's transition from Xrd to Strive

- This is my opinion and impressions on Strive Bedman and I provide some context as to why may have lost some things going into Xrd. He lost a lot less than one might think.

One of the things I like about New Bedman? Is how Deja vu was CONCEPTUALLY changed, while in Xrd Deja Vu cut startup and allowed bedman to act along with the repeated action, in Strive you act along with the repeated action on a timer and must add startup if you want to save it or use it immediately.
It fits so well with the bed machine malfunctioning that Deja Vu becomes backwards lol
I saw someone say they're errors because the bed is waiting for Bedman to use a Deja Vu and screws up because he's not there and its perfect

The bed only knows to do what it was intended to do, which was to do whatever Bedman did but he's no longer there to actually fuel the repeated actions.
So now to emulate the exact same fighting style, it seems to be perfectly willing to tear itself to shreds to achieve it.

I didn't really care about Bedman in Xrd but it was still interesting to hear your thoughts on his transition to Strive, I'll definitely try him since he seems more up my alley now. I also like the new design better with his sister just spectating and reacting to what's happening while the bed itself is empty.

Believe or not, I played bedman in xrd because of you. I liked how sick he looked despite his....downsides. I wasn't too big into strive since I didn't really have a character I meshed with. Needless to say, seeing that you're hopeful for this new variation brings me joy

I am so happy with how Bedman turned out and it seems he’ll finally break the DLC trend of “characters that kinda just play neutral with good buttons and have gimmicks with missed potential” that imo has been a thing from Baiken to Sin. Of course, that’s just the way I feel, I know more people will like the more traditional characters while I can have fun with my weirdos that come out every now and then, and I think Bedman will fit right in with my repertoire.

Bedman's my Xrd main too, so I'm real happy he's finally coming out in Strive. He looks super cool.
Excited to see how Bedman goes for you in Strive! Been learning from your Bed for a while now and I even made a highlight video of your Bedman at Anime Ascension so many years back. Hopefully he fares better than the fan man this time around.
Whoever has played guilty gear xrd rev 2 will know what happened to bedman, the bed is the same one that the boy who was tied to it used, only it was damaged after bedman faces venom and robo-ky, after the latter self-destruct (this can be seen in story mode ), From what I read on the wiki fandom website , after Bedman's death, his soul remained in his bed, the mysterious girl who appears before bedman's remains is called delilah who turns out to be bedman's younger sister.

As much as I agree that they perfectly transferred the gameplay of Bedman, I’m honestly super bummed out they didn’t bring actual BedMAN back. The bed is enough, but I still miss his smirk and long paragraphs😔

@@hakumenx1 Yeah,but Zato getting revived is a big plot point. Meanwhile reviving Bedman would be tone deaf as hell and would make what happened in the story more in xrd meaningless

honestly strive vedman is the one time i could actually enjoy the strive version more.
My biggest question is how good is install, how long does it last, and how hard can you loop it with positive. If you can do be inside of install, get wall break and then keep it going to the wall and do the install again with positive this character will be disgusting
Yeah I'm curious as well.
A lot of it hinges on the tension pulse penalty in install super. Install supers traditionally had their own extended tension pulse penalty where meter build is weak. I'd imagine Bedman is locked out from building meter reliably for a good bit from install.
This is independent from positive bonus that is gained from a wall break. Realistically, you may be able to install and wall break, then use positive bonus to go back into install.
I was thinking it would have really high guts since it tanks a mortobato pretty well at the very end of the starter guide

Based on the footage we've seen what do you think bedman? can get off of an anti air j.p? I haven't played strive in a long time so I'm not too familiar with how the air combo system works anymore
At the very least, Task B. It may be possible to drag the opponent down with air dash jK or jS, and bring them to cS range.
jD may be a possibility but it doesnt seem like a powerful ender. You ideally want to end with a special to rev up the error.

yeah twinks are good.
I was not too scared about his special. Expect the bed slam replaced by a boring hard break. But otherwise that was not my main concern.
But now that I look at his new normals I réalisé they are all very different. And the one I liked are all gone.
And I really hope the cross up dash is still there.
Cross up dash is gone.
Functionally his normals are the same, but we dont know if 5K low crushes like it does in Xrd.
1H, 2H, and 3H being gone is a bummer but those normals were questionably bad. Necessary, but bad.
Task C still exists as his new jD. Bedslam had its share of problems too.
I think they did well in removing a lot of the gimmicky parts of his toolset.

I don't play Bedman in Strive nor Xrd.
And thought that they did him dirty in Strive.
I really liked his gimmicks and mechanics in Xrd.
But it's actually kinda not true, cause in Xrd his supers were not used.
And you find his new moves in Strive as a spiritual successors.
So I guess they did him ok?
i really like new design, but i have fear it will be really hard to learn for me with Error 6e , it seems a bit harder to control than deja vu replay
It's a lot more automatic than what it is. For most purposes, you can just practice certain strings and combo routes and the error just does its thing for you.
after playing Bedman i can say, it's not as hard as i expected, manual activation feels almost same, and i just have an option for automatic one

Idk every time I get excited abt a new strive character I try strive again then remember that it’s guilty gear strive. At least bedman looks like a similar character, unlike ram, testament, jacko or sin. Fingers crossed they don’t ruin him
I really just think Delilah is super boring and an incredibly uninteresting character compared to Bedman. Anyone can feel free to prove me wrong but she’s more or less just a burden than anything else. Just having Bedman (just the bed because they can’t really resurrect him because lore or something lol) woulda been perfect, but honestly I just really hate seeing Delilah on screen and hearing her in game just bothers me. I get that I can get mods to remove her but like.. she doesn’t really… play a part in gameplay? Why should she be in the foreground as fighting is happening? Not just present for intros and such then kinda gets put off to the side or at the very least in the background of gameplay? Can anybody please explain to me the significance of her as a character and/or why I should care about her in the first place? Just kinda got dropped in and is not nearly as cool as my beloved Bedman from xrd.
