I saw a marvellous variation of this, 50 years ago in Melbourne Australia. A pretty girl appeared to be guillotined, the showman appeared to catch her head in a basket, then walked a few feet away, and placed the head so it seemed to balance on a sword. Very slick, and very mystifying at the time.
I wish they had gotten around to putting her in the illusion a bit sooner, or maybe had the clip run a little longer. I like seeing her with her head on the platter.
Val Rainville I think she says "Chuckry" but I actually have this video on the official DVD release. I can check. she's probably in her late 30s. It would be interesting to know how she feels about the video now.
