Just a pointer for a new dog owner, you should wait until the puppy is at least 12wk (min) to introduce stairs. As they are stilling developing, going up and down stairs can cause hip problems down the line. Lucky is lucky to have you as his hooman!

omg luna he’s so precious🤧🤧one thing you might want to take into consideration is that in most cases, you’ll want to carry him up and down the stairs until he is at least 12 weeks; their joints are very weak and fragile when they’re this young. this also applies for jumping off things, try whenever you can to help him down.

the collar is super cute!! but you might also want to consider getting him a harness - it gives better support and especially if something happens if the leash gets accidentally yanked you don't want to choke the baby vs the harness would be spreading out the pressure over the chest. my dog prefers the harness because it's more comfortable but if you still want to be stylish just wear both but attach the leash to the harness! love to you and lucky

@hope yerkes My dog just zig zags regardless 😂 she can’t walk straight so we prefer a harness for more control. She also lunges at other dogs sometimes so a collar might be a choke hazard for her. (She’s a tiny Maltese but she thinks she’s a big dog lol)

    • @alexawong8665

@@Itsjustv121 she does it regardless - initially on a collar for a year. so we switched. again it was for safety reasons because I care about her tiny neck. it depends on your own dog. don't claim things like "harnesses are really bad". they're not. they also don't cause shoulder problems so I don't know where you got that from. it could cause chafing if you're out for prolonged periods of time if that's what you mean but it's definitely less pressure than that on the neck caused by a collar. for a full list of pros and cons I recommend these links. good day :-) www.akc.org/expert-advice/training/best-dog-harnesses/

as a dog owner, i do recommend starting to train him to be alone sometime soon (even if you do plan on bringing him everywhere). small dogs tend to get a lot of separation anxiety and my dog has it rn and he's 5 years old.. i made the mistake of barely leaving him as a puppy. overall, you seem so prepared it's amazing. lucky is so LUCKY to have u :)

True about separation anxiety. I had a dog that suffered from that and it really was our fault. I felt so guilty leaving him, even guiltier when I found out about separation anxiety in pets, esp.dogs, which are so loyal to their furparents. From time to time, he would exhibit this when we would simply go out the gate. He would cry and try to follow. Probably thought we were not going back. He mostly was like this with me, who took care of him the most...If the pandemic did anything good, it was that we got to spend more time at home and with him.

As someone who works with a lot of dogs on the daily & am raising a puppy too! my best words of advice are teaching him the command for the bathroom, crate training is sooo helpful, don’t feel bad as he gets older and doesn’t want to sleep but is tired, put him down for a nap it will save you! Sign up for puppy training classes they help with socialization and general training, make sure that he also know to go to the bathroom outside, pee pads are very wasteful and can confused some dogs (if you have a private yard he can go out there without danger) and bully sticks (don’t google what they are they are gross) but will save you from a teething puppy so will a stuffed kong! and my last advice is to get a house lead, a small longer leash that you can connect to him so when he’s wandering around the house being naughty it is easier to catch and watch him, it will also get him used to having a leash on! Oo and my very last thing, flexi/extendable leashes are not good for teaching a dog how to walk properly, stay away from them! Best of luck!

iibelle I would recommend going to training classes! I know it can be though but it will help soo much and it’s always helpful to have someone else assist you with training and they can be very fun! Or you could look into places like the Puppy Academy in LA where you drop off your dog and then train it

@@unaestrella1876 I have had well behaved and socialized dogs for 45 years and none ever went to a training/obedience class! If someone has the time they can train their own dog their selves. I am not knocking people that take their dogs to training/obedience classes and only saying they do not HAVE to go to them to be well trained socialized dogs.
My last dog (she passed away at 14 1/2 years old and had her since she was 11 week old) her vet said she was "one of the sweetest dogs" he had ever had and he is not a young vet! He's an older vet that has treated a lot of dogs through the years.

    Crate training tips:
Do not take the dog out while they are barking or crying because then that tells them that if they cry you’ll let them out, so you want them to be calm in the crate. It helps to start out feeding your dog in the crate as well sometimes. Also a sound machine or a radio helps a lot in calming anxious puppies in crates!

about the crate training,we are doing cage training but i have had so many dogs and i help my uncle alot with his dogs so yea,do try to schelue "bed time" and get up when he starts to cry, usally they always fall asleep during the day to {even when they are older} so do what you need to do that you cant do with him then while hes sleeping, also during the day when they are sleeping let them sleep where they fell asleep, dont move him while hes sleeping during the day but try to get him in the crate before he falls asleep so if hes tired at night then go put him in but only when hes really tired your welcome hes such an angel!

So adorable!! The best decision we ever made for our puppy was hang a bell on the door and teach him to tap it with his nose whenever he needed to go to the bathroom. It makes it so easy to know when he needs to go. We just just set a timer for ever 30min or every hour, and when it would go off, we would take him to the door, press his nose to the bell, give him a treat, and let him outside. Because we did it so often, he learned very quickly!
Another tip is to make sure all the food and treats are gluten/grain free. Gluten is a cancer causer in dogs. Our old dog was not on a gluten/grain free diet and he was diagnosed with cancer. The doctors gave him two months to live. We switched his diet to gluten/grain free one and he lived for almost four more years!

Hi! Congrats!!!! I just got two puppies 3 months ago, and we got them a collar as usual lol. When we would walk them, sometimes since they are puppies they get excited and make a quaking noice because of the collar on their neck. I 100% recommended getting a harness! They work so well and don’t hurt their baby necks! Also, I recommend putting them in their crates every night, that way they get used to them. Now, they love them!!! It’s funny you say u love cavaliers, Thats my dogs breeds! One is a girl Blenheim and one ruby boy. They came from premier pups, they did literally such a good job putting them on planes and making sure they were okay! Def recommend them. Anyway, good luck with your new adorable pup!

Breeder doent equal puppy mill, you can find very happy puppies from small family breeders and also some poeple genuinly arent allowed to adopt as they may have a cat (or any other animal that may affect the dogs life) or and underaged child.
Where ever you got your beautiful puppies from the main thing is that you trath them well! :)

The problem isn’t necessarily the “shop” aspect if you buy from reputable papered dog breeders. The main problem is people not spaying/neutering their pets, and of course horrible back yard breeders/puppy mills. Definitely if you can, adopt, but people should not feel guilty or make others feel guilty about buying if you have your heart set on a certain breed🤷🏼‍♀️

I had so much control over him and he didn't pull. occasionally when he did pull it didn't hurt him, the harness stops his arms from moving forwards. have fun with ur new pup :)

He's so cute and I'm so happy for youuu! I do just want to say that it's really important you try to prevent too much attachment since it can result in him having separation anxiety which is really bad for the dog, we adopted a dog who had awful separation anxiety and he would get really distressed if we left the house even for just an hour and it was really horrible for him and it was difficult to train him out of that because he was an older dog. So it's always best to put a new dog in a room for a couple of hours each day where he'll be by himself with no one else around (when he's old enough) that way he'll be able to be apart from you without feeling distressed and I know this seems really horrible and sad but I promise it's what's best for him 💖

We shopped for Milo because we had two cats and we needed a specific breed that was good around cats (doesn’t have a high prey drive). Shopping is not bad once you go to a responsible and ethical breeder!! Anyways good luck, he’s adorable!!

As someone who owned his own biggest love for 10 years (she passed away in April and I have her tattooed on my forearm), she was my first and only dog, she CHANGED my life and I really mean it. We basically grew together, I was in my teen years, now I'm 24 and I'm 100% I wouldn't be the person I am today without her.
I just wanted to tell you to keep in mind that tricks and training your dog are really really important, especially because Lucky's still a puppy.
In the years, I found myself dealing with my dog who was beated and then went to the shelter, then adopted by one of the janitors of my high school and then I took her. We were really really attached to her, in a selfish way and I could see her developing separation anxiety in a way that we couldn't leave her alone in the house in the years. That is suffering for both the owners and the dog.
Good luck for both of you!

You are showing so much love for your new puppy and he is adorable! I do think he is too little for stairs! I have read some pretty sad cases of small dogs that took tumbles down stairs and it is very costly if they end up needing surgery and very painful for them!
As for crate training my biggest complaint is people that leave their dogs in crates that are either too small and/or for too long periods of time.
Yes, they are very costly as well as takes lot of time, patience, and love 💖💖💖

I can’t choose if I want cat or dog.
Cat: more calm. More cute. More relaxing.
Dog: more happy. More lovable. More loyal.

we got a Maltese puppy in July and what I would recommend is putting treats in the crate than put your baby in. also when ever you eat I would suggest you get a play pen to put him in so he will be taught not to beg!

I had a poodle for 17,5. Slept in my bed every night. Now I have a 1 year old poodle. He was a crazy puppy, only slept at night and played non stop during the day. I attempted using a crate during the night, as I am an adult and it seemed a grown up idea.... but no I couldn’t and Moses (my puppy) didn’t like it at all. I sleep better with him in the bed and so does he next to me. I’ve had my old dog by my side almost all my life so I want this little guy there too.
If the crate works for you that’s awesome! I didn’t stick to it. So I guess that’s my tip. Stick to it, as with most things.
Btw! The pink kong chew toy was one of the first things I bought for my puppy too 😍
Lucky is the cutest little thing ever!!!
I miss when Moses was a puppy but honestly... as they grow older everything grows. Love grows!!! I had my late dog for 17,6 years, that love was crazy strong. I wish that for all dogs and their humans ❤️❤️❤️

I used to think crate training was cruel until I got my two huskies. My bf & I live in a one bedroom apartment (we have a yard) so we needed them to have a “room” situation. Though it took a while to train them, it was totally worth it. Now they go in when they see we’re leaving for work, or when they feel ill it’s their safe space, or when they just wanna chill a bit. We leave the “doors” open during the day so they can go in & out as they please & at night we close them. They wake up around 6am to take a pee & go back in to keep sleeping. They’re official a year old & honestly I’m glad we did crate training.

Yes, it is very good to adopt because there are many dogs out there that need homes. That being said every living dog needs a home. Not just the ones that are in shelters.

I recently volunteered at an adoption center. I felt bad because they all deserve loving homes. Breeders are VERY expensive in comparison to adopting and imo it's just easier to adopt a pet that is already yearning for someone to adopt them. I highly suggest to future adopters to do your research before purchasing a puppy. Also, Lucky is absolutely adorable! Can't wait to see him in future videos.

i got my puppy from a reputable and reliable breeder and i don’t have any regrets. i love my baby and wouldn’t trade him for the world🤷‍♀️ my dad is allergic and it’s very rare to find a hypoallergenic puppy up for adoption, so we just used a breeder. you’ll love your dog no matter what, doesnt need to be adopted as long as they’re not from a mill.

You could also try to attach a ribbon or thick string with a bell attached to it and tie it to the door so that whenever it wants to go to the bathroom it can ring it. That’s what I did and it works great with my dog. We have a fence so it’s also easy cuz we don’t have to walk him every time he wants to go potty:)

i bought my beautiful cavalier king charles spaniel puppy at the beginning of the year. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH !!! and while i agree that adopting a puppy is a positive thing, it's not for everyone. one of the reasons why i decided to get a poppy is to help with my anxiety. before deciding on the breed of the dog i wanted to get i did my research. i wanted a calm dog that doesnt bark a lot, is not very active and is suitable for an apartment living. thats how i decided on the ckcs. what im trying to explain is when you get a mixed breed dog you cant predict it's personality, how big it will be eventually and the finally (and maybe the most important) you don't know the physical health of the puppy. responsible breeders breed dogs to be as healthy as possible which is obviously good for the dogs. so im happy for you that you love Lucky and he seems like a great little puppy but i dont agree with what you said about not buying dogs which if people actually stopped buying pure bred dogs, these dog breed will become extinct and will forever disappear.

Omg he reminds me of. My dog Lucky, he was cocker spaniel and passed away in august, when he was little my mom saved him from a dog shop in Greece where he was locked in a little crate the whole day and night and that‘s why she called him Lucky🥺❤️
I also really love adopting a dog so I thought, well since my doggy died I could adopt a puppy, but in Germany are not many puppies you can adopt (you‘ll rather find old/ sick dogs or dogs that aren‘t able to live with a child and because I have a 5 year old brother i couldn‘t adopt them) so I decided to adopt from Romania because there are so many...but I think it wasn‘t the best decision, because I haven‘t seen the puppy I chose before I got her (just on a picture) I couldn‘t say if she fits in my family , if she likes me and my brother and mother...we could have luck or not...we got her 2 weeks ago and she‘s an angle, she‘s a border collie mix with very fluffy hair, she doesn‘t pee in the house since the first day she learns so fast, but she is so scared of going outside and seeing other dogs/humans / cars/birds / everything so it‘s very hard to keep her brain stimulated (cause she’s a border collie) AND she gets aggressive towards my brother (when she‘s in a „phase“) and I don‘t want to give her up and let another family adopt her, because I really like her already and I know I will never get a dog again (it was my only chance to get a dog) but I also know, she’d be probably better in another family with a huge garden no children and maybe more time...I really don‘t know what to do😭😭😭 this was my worst case scenario 😭😭😭

My first dog was only the one my family bought for me(I personally since I was 6 I wanted to adopt), but my family didn't let me.. But since then, every pet is adopted /rescued🥰

get him acclimated to humans and public spaces right away!!! i was just like you with wanting to take my little guy to work with me (i work at a cycling studio) and he came with me starting right at 8 weeks. waiting to have shots is only an issue if he's around other dogs/dog park areas but if he's indoors he's totally fine! the more social they are when they're younger, the better he's going to be in every situation ; even the unpredictable ones (which there will be) ! you are going to ROCK this and i am so happy that lucky has his forever home (:

First of all, congrats!!! You are glowing in this video from excitement! I really want to say thank you so, so much for promoting adoption over buying from a breeder. I know a lot of people don't consider buying a dog from a breeder to be problematic and preach that it's a "personal choice." But actually when there are other living beings affected by your decision, the choice is no longer a "personal" one. There are SO many overcrowded shelters with stray and abandoned dogs just as deserving of loving homes as purebred puppies. The dogs can't help that they're born, of course, but paying for exploitation just allows the cycle to perpetuate. These rescue organizations do so much to help innocent lives, and they should be the ones receiving our dollars. They are much more deserving of our support than breeders who, in many cases, are just looking to make a buck from blatant exploitation. Makes me so sad when people pay thousands of dollars for designer dogs when pups like yours are overlooked again and again. I'm really, really proud of you 💗

Adopting dogs from reputable breeders is fine. Some people need certain dog breeds - hypoallergenic dogs, hunting dogs or protective dogs. It is also fine if you are looking for a certain size dog. It is stupid to shame all dog buyers, some of them want to take a part of contest. Expect pugs and bit bulls. These dogs should not be breed at all and bought. The first can't even guve birth on its own and the second is just dangerous!

I think it might be a good idea to remember that just because that is the situation in your country, it isnt everywhere. Where I live dog shelters are not really a thing. Also due to legislation there is a high standard för breeding. Many breeders do important work to make sure the new puppies are born healthy and happy.
