Guess I gotta stick more to the cnc related videos. I really like making other stuff, but the videos just don’t get the views. Not in the beginning anyways.
Amazed by your dust collection. I have mine hooked up to my Harbor Freight 70 (?) gallon dust collector with a 4" hose and I feel like it doesn't do that great. I've been thinking it is due to the fact that I have the hose going to the ceiling and then coming back down, but that obviously isn't the case as yours is similar. Great work, just put on a new wasteboard yesterday and your video really has me wanting to add t track.
another well-thought-out project Chris.. Your project combined with Daniel's tnuts make a PERFECT combination for these machines! thanks for the inspiration, mine is now done as well. back to making sawdust (or fires if you're not careful :-) )
I did that a year ago. No fences though. but when I tear up a piece of MDF, I don't have to replace a whole sheet, just the 4 inch wide pieces that are damaged. I made extra poeices for quick replacing.
Brilliant design and implementation. I put a full bevel on my XY frame guides so they have a wedge down effect with opposing clamps. Yours looks too good to get scratched by carving too soon!
Great video ... used your video to make one for my CNC but.... Do you know another source for those drop-in / twist-in t-Nuts you're using. I've searched every where with no luck.
Awesome vid. Love how you extended your cnc. I'm looking into what I want now. Cnc4newbie has a 48 x and 32 y I'm really considering. Was looking at 1f also but this seems more robust. Any recommendations?
Great videos, I'm having trouble with my Shapeoko XXL, in contour cutting the bit will rise up 2 to sometimes 10 thousandths for a few inches or sometimes it will rise up almost all the way around a whole pass, it did this before and after I replaced the belts and V pulleys. It is not a positional thing on the work piece, because you can move the vector over to another area and get the same results. And it doesn't do it all the time, please advise me if you have any answers, thank you
Hey Chris nice video as always very helpful .I see you have the Bosch vacuum. I was looking to get one my self but not sure how well it will do on my cnc .how is it working for you
I hear that lol. I want to say thank you to you for your videos. Because of your how to videos on the shapeoko. I felt confident enough to buy one my self .I have had it for about a year now and live making gifts for my family and friends. I get a lot of joy out of it and your videos really started it for me .so thank you and I hope you continue to make you videos.
It was just wood screws with a flat top, tapered head. Try to get them so they sit about 1/4” below the surface. That way you will have plenty of material that you can resurface as you use the wasteboard.
Chris I just found this as I was looking for a fence set up for my shapeoko Pro XXL on your machine up size cutting area do you do have was trying to figure out what size to make the rectangle to make?
Well mines a lot bigger since I extended my machine. Just jog the machine as far as it will go to the back and left and right, and make a mark. Make a wasteboard just slightly smaller than that.
@@ChrisPowellFSD Oh yeah I actually have my old units crest/logo alredy made up using inkscape and Carbide already and a bunch of other military stuff/ flags etc.. ready to go.. man has to have his man cave lol
I think I would've chamfered the bottom of the front fence before surfacing the edge. That way, you could still maintain a clean edge without having to cut into your wasteboard. I like the way you made your wasteboard though.
I am new to CNC. I recently finished building my MPCNC and wanted to add T-Track waste board like yours. The rectangle vector that you created in your CAM what toolpath profile did you use is it pocket, contour or what? Can you post the link to buy the low profile clamp, also, the link to the T-Nut is not working.
I dunno, my first spoil board was made with mdf straps, now I'm making one out of one piece of mdf, using the machine to groove out the track slots, seems much easier
1k views in one day. Not to shabby!!
It's great to see you back in action 🎬

This has to be the most informative and helpful videos I have watched for upgrading my waste board. Thanks for the insights
Thanks for watching. Glad you found it helpful!
Neat, simple, and effective T track waste board. Good video production also.
Thanks!
Thanks for this video Chris. It was excellent. Very informative.
Thank you. Thanks for watching.
this is a really good approach to it all - i'll do the same, thank you for sharing.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Nice work Chris!
Thanks!
Great video! This has given me good ideas for when I get mine set up!!!😁😁🐻
Awesome!

Thanks Todd. Don’t burn the house down😵💫

I think this is the best overall design for a wasteboard. I have some ideas to expand upon it, but the base design seems to work well.
Great video.
I appreciate your effort
Great video with well explained steps. Thanks for sharing. You’ve got a new subscriber….
Thank you!
Hi Chris, this is a great idea, what were your settings on the 1/2" V bit?
Brilliant design and implementation. I put a full bevel on my XY frame guides so they have a wedge down effect with opposing clamps. Yours looks too good to get scratched by carving too soon!
Thanks. That’s a good idea. I think this is one of those cases where I just have to put the first scratch on it and then I won’t care anymore haha.
Really smart planning. What program are you using for your tool paths. Did you do to layout the countersink holes.
Thanks. I just used carbide create for those. Usually I use Carveco Maker, but didn’t feel like booting up my Mac in windows mode.
Great video ... used your video to make one for my CNC but....

Thanks. I do like the looks of the Onefinity x50

Check the set screws on the pulleys. They’re really small ones. Make sure one is on the flat area.
Hey Chris nice video as always very helpful .I see you have the Bosch vacuum. I was looking to get one my self but not sure how well it will do on my cnc .how is it working for you
Thanks. It’s working really well. I have a couple of them. I use one under my miter saw also. They’re great.
Do you use it with the filter clean on when your using your cnc
Yea until it gets annoying and I shut it off.
I hear that lol. I want to say thank you to you for your videos. Because of your how to videos on the shapeoko. Great video Chris, but what esle would we expect by now.
Thanks. I really appreciate the support
What screws did you use for attaching the mdf strips?
How far below the surface to you recommend the v-bit to go?
It was just wood screws with a flat top, tapered head. Try to get them so they sit about 1/4” below the surface. That way you will have plenty of material that you can resurface as you use the wasteboard.
Question on those toe clamps...are the ones in the video at 7:34 3/4 version? so you get the size of your wood thickness I assume.
Chris I just found this as I was looking for a fence set up for my shapeoko Pro XXL on your machine up size cutting area do you do have was trying to figure out what size to make the rectangle to make?

Nice setup Chris... sadly my poko is still in the box, waiting on the shop to get built
That is sad, but at least you’ll have some good ideas of what to do when you get it set up.
@@ChrisPowellFSD Oh yeah I actually have my old units crest/logo alredy made up using inkscape and Carbide already and a bunch of other military stuff/ flags etc.. ready to go.. man has to have his man cave lol
Hi Chris,
Where or what is the dust boot? And where are the clamps? It sounded like “Cone CNC” but google does not recognize this.
It’s PwnCNC. There’s links to everything in the description.
And saved!
I think I would've chamfered the bottom of the front fence before surfacing the edge. That way, you could still maintain a clean edge without having to cut into your wasteboard. I like the way you made your wasteboard though.
That’s what I’m showing at 5:44
@@ChrisPowellFSD Sorry, I guess I missed that.
Which t track works with those t-nuts from PwnCNC?
These ones do. I’m not sure what others.
It’s a pocket. The clamps and t nut should be on PwnCNC’s website.
the vbit mark you made to start your t-track off on the left. is that along the farthest x axis? meaning is that as far as your x axis goes left?
I came in just a hair to center the layout of the tracks, but it’s pretty close to all the way left.
I dunno, my first spoil board was made with mdf straps, now I'm making one out of one piece of mdf, using the machine to groove out the track slots, seems much easier
Have you installed the new belts?
No, I never got the parts I tried to order. I’ve just been running the 9mm ones.
What is the dust collection boot?
PwnCNC
