    Wonderful video and excellent ideas, sharing this with my son. I am teaching my grandson French and I think notebooks will help him. It will be a tangible item to show off his accomplishments. He is only 20 months old and I just started yesterday. Holy toledo, what a hit! He kept pointing to the book which had his name spelled in big bold colourful letters and then to himself and he wandered around the house showing it to his parents when they came home from work. He showed them his artwork on the inside. He was so happy, dear little heart.

    I was scratching my head...what is an interactive notebook, this new thing. I just realize it is the system my teachers used when I was growing up. I’m 40 years old. When you said the five glue dots I almost cry! Love your channel. I’m a stay at home mom and a mathematician. Applying for the license to teach in Oh. You are the best resource I have found so far.

      Thank you so much! The great teaching strategies never go out of style, they just give them new names lol. I'm so excited to hear about your journey to become a math teacher.

    Thank you for sharing! I think I'll try this and consider printing 5 circles or dots on the back of each handout. The circles/dots will be their guide for where the glue should go. They are a younger group of kids. Thanks again for sharing!

    you are a smart lady!! Idea for grading notebooks. Have all tests on Friday. That gives you the weekend to grade the notebooks. =)

      I usually give tests when we complete a unit - whatever day it is. (My principal actually made a comment once about teachers giving tests on Fridays like it was a bad thing.)

    I wrap my notebooks with clear strapping tape. I use the Duck brand EZ Start tape. It takes me about two weeks to get them all taped, but it is SO worth it in the long run. The notebooks do not fall apart.

    Hey! Great video Brianne! What was the solution to the scissor/glue/highlighter mess you used to have?

      Thank you for your feedback. I use caddies to keep scissors, glue, and highlighters. I explain more in this blog post: www.busymissbeebe.com/8-interactive-notebook-hacks/

    Question:: what is your favorite way of taking notes vs having examples and adding color to the pages?

    • @BusyMissBeebe
      @BusyMissBeebe  6 років тому

      I'm sorry, I don't quite understand your question.

    • @SweetDee101
      @SweetDee101 6 років тому

      Brianne Beebe do you have a preference on how notes are taken like the worksheet that you put into your notebooks, do you have them fill in the blanks or do you give them it filled out already and they have to write out an example? Do you use astro bright paper or colored pencils or highlighters, what's your favorite way to add color to the notebook ?...... Did that make sense 😕😣

    • @BusyMissBeebe
      @BusyMissBeebe  6 років тому

      SweetDee101 Thank you for clarifying. Most of my notes are fill-ins to save time. They have to write in keywords and show work on the examples. I used to use colored paper, but students preferred white paper because the highlighter colors looked funny on colored paper. We use highlighters and colored pencil to add color.
