2023 here, and this was so helpful! I'm about to bring this game to my weekly game group, and now I feel a lot more comfortable with that 12 page manual. :)
Great playthrough, thanks Jon! Looks like a cool game. I think how you generally say "us", rather than "me" like in your early videos, works really well.
At 1:37:06 I would of done a clay diek. Mainly because blue just pick up a lot of stone the round before. This means that they would have less to add to it. I'm not sure if it would of been enough to win the game, but it would be interesting to see the results.
1:17:00 does yellow need to pay a coin for using an actin where there is already a farmer? Love your strategic insights, always look forward to your videos, thanks so much for the quality work!
I haven't tried it at 2 players, and after seeing Slicker Drip's take on it with his playthrough I think I will be avoiding that player count. Doesn't seem like the game works very well without 2 opponents.
Hey, Jon, really enjoyed the playthrough! My gaming group played this game the other night. I think you made a mistake though. Each player can only purchase one of the buildings with the exclamation points. Your field had two of them. Am I correct?
My understanding is you may only build one of the specific “storm surge” tiles of which you put out one more than the number of players. I don’t believe you are restricted on your he number of other building types beyond the 4 building limit.
Great play through. I enjoyed it. However, some remarks. The game is called Lowlands, and the front page of the rulebook states: "On the wave-battered coast of the North Sea...". In your introduction you say that players have to build dikes to keep the ocean back. Sure, but the North Sea isn't an ocean. :-) At 1:05:06 there is a small error in editing: 3 seconds doubled. At 1:30:25 you introduce the Tjasker "building", saying you do not know how to pronounce it.. The tile is an "Action building", but the tjasker itself is really a small windmill without a housing. See Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tjasker Tjasker is a Dutch word and in Duch the j is pronounced more like the y as in "you" and not like the sound of j as in June.
I published a full playthrough for xenoshyft a loooong time ago. It's no where near as polished as my current videos, but you can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/I0L2JqXpc84/v-deo.html
It looks like I messed up there, they should have been 1 farther on the track from this point on in the game. I will add a note to the klingon closed captions. Thanks for pointing this out.
@@GettingGames hey John, when someone contributes by helping you progress first one on the dike track and then the helping player? You might have missed this?

Thanks, Jon... just picked up this game. Looking forward to bringing it to the table with friends!
I hope you enjoy it! I've been really meaning to get this one to the table again.
Yep! Going to play it again this holiday season when my daughter arrives!@@GettingGames
After watching several reviews that left me feeling "meh", this is what sold me on the game. Thank you!

Ah good, I am glad that is working well for people.
This video helped me a lot when I was first learning this game!
This was very helpful and entertaining! I will feel a lot more comfortable playing this for the first time myself! Thanks!
Really helpful playthrough! thank you!
Awesome! Excited to watch this one with all the hype this game has been getting.
At 31:58 you mention that the yellow player gets 4 bumps but you only bump him 3 times. What do I miss? :(
Nice video and very insightful/helpful. Thanks!

0 Dislikes. Well done. Clear audio and well produced.
Wow, this game looks great!

Ah yeah, good catch! I'll add a note into the closed captioning. Thanks :)
This was super super good thank you
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Looks good, how is it at 2 players?

Game is golden at 3, good at 4

I'm speaking of the fish pond and the farmhouse.

Okay. Thanks for the quick reply. As I stated, I really enjoy your playthroughs. Very thorough.

Thanks for the context, that was pretty interesting :)
Nice playthrough! FYI, the video and audio became choppy beginning around the 45 minute mark maybe...might just be a problem on my end.
Hmm, that's not great to hear. I watched abit of it around 45m and didn't see any issues so hopefully it's a local problem.
Well, it works fine on my other devices but continues to be choppy on my Galaxy S9. Other UA-cam videos work perfectly on my S9...weird.
The water tiles look like the Firenze tiles. 😃
Yeah we noticed that in our first game too :)
JonGetsGames too bad it is out if print
😢
1ebaymama Quined Games announced a 2nd edition today, it’s coming out at Spiel!
JonGetsGames Yay!!!!!
Can you play xenoshyft please

Slight editing hiccup 1:05!
i live in the low lands. This game however has nothing special, a kind of agricola acbas + pandemic rising tide, and i dislike both.
