YES! why do men feel the need to undermine a womans authority like that? if you really wanted to be respectful of your female boss you talk to her with respect & NOT as if shes a little girl. "sweetheart, sweetie, honey etc" is all really condescending and doesn't go over well if the female your talking to isnt your 10 year old daughter. If you really feel like you gotta add a title to her, stick with mam or just "okay, I'm on it"
I completely agree with your point.. although I would have written : why do SOME men.. Most men ( the majority I feel ) , wouldn't acquiesce after hearing this bullshit used towards a woman. Though I suppose the percentages (of sexist men) would differ depending on industry, culture or geographic location.
@Jessica Nice I completely agree with you!!! I'm only 14 but how Pete was behaving was totally disgraceful. Just because she's a woman doesn't mean they should take her authority away. That was just total disrespect and Captain Sandy handled it perfectly.
Really wish you wrote "some men", or "most men". I dont want to be compared to these guys. I am sorry you have to experience these type of steriotypes, but there really are some good guy's out there are also a few dangerous women. Wish we could all just find the middleground. I respect Malia and Sandy alot, strong women. True inspiration! Wish you all a good life ❤️
I am a man and how Pete was behaving was disgraceful. Just because she is a woman doesn't mean you take her authority away. Just total disrespect and Sandy handeled it perfectly.
A junior who I hired and I was training kept calling me sweetie etc - when I asked him nicely to not call me that he then proceeded to call me bro, dude etc - so I told him in a meeting full of people that I would prefer him to call me Mamma - not sister, not Aunty - but mamma or he could refer to me by my name which would be professionally acceptable. That set him in order but I suppose I will face more such people in my life - have to come up with more creative ways to tackle these situations.
I understand what captain Sandy was saying but let her handle it. I feel like she always tries to fix everything herself. Now the guys will stop calling her that because the captain said so not because she stood up for herself. That would've irritated me
Why did C.S feel the need to say "I know it hard when your working under a femle"?? Doesn't that just reinforce the belief that they should look down on her as a boss. That just felt weird
I agree with the Capt, but Malia, please, 'what I had to overcome to get here?' she stuck her tongue down her Bosuns throat and the next day she becomes the lead deckhand all the while stringing Adam along, stop playing the victim.
It is not about the person but the office they hold. You may not respect the person but you have to respect the office. Not many respected Donald Trump but they respected the President
I am in management in HR and there is nothing wrong with her response. It was actually handled well by everyone. She obviously was not being respected by them and her telling them would have had no effect. There is nothing "baby" about escalating an issue to a manager. It is actually a really mature to try to end conflict.
that’s how things get resolved - 3 males would never have ended that, if she wouldn’t have addressed it early on with the backing of Cpt. Sandy. Nothing “baby” about her handling it, it rather raises the question about your professional maturity if you compare an escalation with the behavior of an infant.
Hannah is very jealous and feels threatened by Busby but its because the captain gives praise for the table decorations. Hannah treat the young girl like she was beneath her, she's a snob don't know why because even when she talks you can see how false. She says she doesn't have breaks or take medication when there is prove she does both. Hannah does things she should be fired for but she gets away with by sucks up to captain sandy
i would have started calling her bosun every single chance i got like "pas the salt please? yes bosun!! right away bosun!! do you need anything els bosun?"
it is a working place, no-one gets offended if it is between friends, but it has nothing to do in a professional environment, let alone on a hierarchical workspace marine and air space law enforcement or military etc
Some men don't realise that calling women colleagues sweetie and darling is belittling, the "I was only trying to be friendly" excuse. Although some will know full well that they are using those terms maniputively.
@@reactions4u438that’s not how you call your boss, plain and simple, get a reality check on that one. a boat is a highly hierarchical working place and has to be like that, try calling your superior “lovely” or “sweetie” in the military and see how that goes
She stood up for what she believed in and wasn’t going to let a narcissist win, and it hurts them when you do that shit

My problem is why didn’t she tell them. She wants respect then show them who’s the boss don’t run to the captain like a little baby🙄
It probably would have spiralled into a screaming match
