That's gonna be interesting, especially since Asriel is not even aware of what's happening
Spamton did alude to Asriel beginning to slip up so maybe that's what's gonna give Frisk, Chara, and Papyrus the key to getting through Asriel.

I think so, to see the truth you must get rid of denial
It’s funny how, with the release of the newest Newsletter, it’s revealed that a world where nobody can be hurt again IS what Chara wants, and it’s what multiple Figments offer them… But they know it’s not the kind of world Asriel will end up creating.
Keep in mind the letter is from Asriel's perspective; even there, it could just be what he _thinks_ they want.
@@woopi8003To me it read like the first part was what Chara told Asriel, and everything from “but isn’t it scary to think that’s the highest number?” was Asriel’s own thoughts.
I think it's also important to consider how IF chara has gone through a lot of character growth since that time and may now realize that a world where nobody can be hurt again isn't as desirable as they first thought.
It actually works. Asriel is obsessed with the person Chara USED to be, and refuse to aknowledge they actually changed and regret their previous views.
So from Asriel's perspective, he's giving Chara everything they ever wanted, yet they keep rejecting him. Either because Frisk "corrupted" them, or this is Chara punishing him for what happened at the surface.
You forget that Chara did do slight manipulation including trying to get Asriel to commit murder, so we don't know what the meaning behind it is. A lie, a 1:1 honest thing, or a twisting of the truth where if everyone is dead no one gets hurt. There is so much room for interpretation we shouldn't speak of it as fact.
Given how he missed a lot of things regarding the Doll of Denial fight, namely how the Doll opened up the path to the secret figment, this begs the question... How many things did he miss in regards to the previous 4 fights by working on this new world? Needless to say, I don't think he'll be prepared enough for what the trio will bring to the table.
I think it's also possible that the doll breaking it's own string has resulted in him unconsciously denying what really happened.
@@HumanOnEarth128 Nothing that happens to the figments can affect Asriel (since they are projections _of_ his emotions and not the emotions themselves). He was just busy during this fight

Really liked how this part had lots of references to both AUs and other games, like referencing AUs such as FracturedTale and Storyshift, and the different segments (seemingly) referencing different games, the two I see are the sketchbook areas with Paper Mario (that book page flip transition was definitely inspired by a paper Mario game) , and obviously Persona in the figment fight. Can’t wait to see where the Figment brought Frisk, Chara, and Papyrus too, somewhere Asriel doesn’t want them to see and (possibly) somewhere he doesn’t have control over

This theory is probably so wrong lmao
We know this part is focused on denial. The one thing that Asriel has been consistently denying is that Chara has changed.
All the teasers depict New Home and I think that's because we're going to see Azzy's and Chara's childhood- the origin of Asriel's image of Chara.
The trio is wearing forced masks on the thumbnail. I could see the masks being Asriel's perception of the trio, obscuring the reality- refusing to accept how things really are.
The URL for the rift remix has "happy times forever and ever and ever and ever." Couple that with "something for the new, soft Chara" and "something warm and cozy" and it does fit with New Home.
The background of the figment fight has an image of the siblings and the flowers in the teasers are the exact same from the Ruins, leading me to believe Asgore and Toriel are still together.
The line from the end page that fits the most imo is "We were supposed to be together forever... WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER ME?". It sounds like the figment is struggling to accept Chara changing.

Something i hadnt noticed before is that not just denial and emptiness all of the figments so far have had a sort of "aliveness" too them
Ego: while he was constantly preaching gospel near the end they legitimately have their worldview shattered questioning what is real and what isnt however at the time assuming they were just mouth pieces its easy to overlook
Possessiveness: similar to ego is constantly talking about a singular topic so its easy to overlook the "I exist to make you happy" line and given its clinginess it's easy to assume its also a mouthpiece
Fatality: this is where it starts to somewhat show theyre their own sentient characters fatality feels fulfilled by the end and thanks chara for making them feel so as well as Chara acknowledging their existence as an embodiment of such a terrible fate although its very brief so again easy to overlook like the two before
Emptiness: the truth is revealed that these beings are independent to a degree and can rebel against asriel emptiness outright states that it isnt wanted and starts to spill its guts about asriels insecurities about his emptiness before getting killed asriel comments about them being "lifelike" but given he was going to make things less so for denial but given what happens it makes me wonder if his grand bravado is unraveling
Denial: Despite asriels efforts to not make things so "lifelike" denial rebels against him like emptiness and hopes the trio can find a way to understand asriels trauma and pain with asriels commitment to his grand show distracting him from what the trio is up to and where theyre going he never seemed to truly have control of this realm merely putting a shacky bridge together for chara frisk and papyrus to walk on he has access to all these worlds and all this power but he can only utilize it so much thus denial being a pivot to his current views was his weakest link and it gave the trio an in now only time will tell what the next figment will be like hopefully it may be more cooperative for the trio to truly understand why asriel is doing this and what can be done to heal these old wounds
Asriel reminds me a lot of ultron especially during these post credit scenes, with him talking to lilac, just how ultron talked to black widow, during his preparations for the fight at the end of the movie. And the constant theme of “puppets” is similar too.

This was so cool--it made me feel so nice to see these characters again, it was like reuniting with old friends-- anyways.
This chapter of the story really showed what Asriel really wishes for, a world where everything was sweet, innocent and harmless... He wishes he could turn back the clock, stay alive, look for alternative ways to break the barrier, he wishes he'd never feel abandoned by his parents... He looks on the past with rose-tinted glasses-it was never perfect, but he sees it as perfect. He wants the "old Chara" back, he wants the old Toriel, the old Asgore, he just wishes that things would've never, ever changed... but he won't ever admit that to himself. Especially how, at the end of the previous chapter, he directed this world towards Chara.. and he does have a tendency to project. He thinks that, where he sees the past as this almost perfect thing that he has the power to make fully perfect, wholesome and innocent, Chara sees it the same way. Sure, they don't particularly enjoy the past either, but they've moved on from it and accepted that while it affected them, they've been able to grow, change and better themselves despite what they went through... Asriel needs to come to that realization, too... but he's so deep in denial and wishful thinking that he won't ever let himself do so..
This AU is just so wonderfully tragic, and really taps into the bittersweet tragedy of the Dreemurr family story in a very refreshing way...
Also, to compliment the boss design: this is my favourite figment ever, it's just so well drawn and a delight to see in action!!
I'm excited to venture deeper into Asriel's creations in the next chapter of IF :D
It's not enough for Chara to be happy in this new world. HE has to feel happy, too. I can also understand why he wants to control everything in the new world. He wants everything to be perfect. He wants everyone to be happy. In doing so, only then will he *finally* be happy. Only then when the emptiness *finally* cease. Only then will he *finally* get the "happy life" he was denied.
As selfish as it is, it's also kinda sad. He's so obsessed over his own pain that he's ignoring the pain of others. He was dealt an abysmal hand compared to the rest of the cast... and he wants to change that so that he gets a better one. A perfect hand.
Yeah, exactly- he wants to make everything perfect, he feels the need to polish the flaws in his story... because he feels abandoned, deprived of genuine happiness.. he's just so empty, and he wants it to go away. He wants to make a happy life for himself and his best friend, because that life was taken away from him at a young age... it is very tragic. The story of the Dreemurrs is generally a very sad one...
I have lost chill and I won’t leave my room for a month. (Edit) This is also a premiere I am willing to make a lot of time for. Also this is the best Undertale AU I have seen. I love it. It comes back on undertale’s anniversary conveniently. 2 good things in one day. I am going insane.

I’ve been listening to mus_denial as my focus music for a while now, and it was so surreal to hear it now. I’ve waited a long time for Rift Part 7, and it was clearly worth the wait! Can’t wait for the unveiling of the final figment!
Edit: ok I still can’t believe this came out. It feels like a dream come true! Which is literal because I’ve had 3 dreams about Rift 7! 3!

Not sure how necessary the AU references towards the start were, but once we get into the actual meat and potatoes it definitely picks up.
I think it's a way to show that Asriel is aware of the existence of other universes and he's getting "inspiration" for his own reality.

Peak episode: worth IT! Anyhow, let's see... ah. Doll of Denial. Lie after spoon fed lie, yet some truth in between... Such a wonderful concept, only to betray the master who made it... twisting the knife until it shattered. Same results as last time. The return of the orange soul. This was the god's last challenge, but not for the heroes. What will the next figment be? Ego. Possessiveness. Fatality. Emptiness. Denial. 1 left. And a fight between the heroes and someone who we don't have the answer to... And then, only then... will the heroes be prepared. Will they succumb to Asriel? Or will they rise, looking down at the self-proclaimed god? We shall see very, very soon... Ok, but really, see you at Underevent 2024! (They just might make another trailer...) (ALSO, WHO WOULD DISLIKE THIS ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE OF AN AU?!) jk, jk, people have preferences, I ain't the 2016 fandom after all.

Although I am a Russian person, but I liked the continuation of the animation. With a bunch of "AU" references, though I do not know how Azriel viewed alternative universes and timelines.
And I liked the boss fight itself, this boss, it's almost like a battle with Spamton NEO.

Asriel can no longer explain in a valid way WHY he hates Frisk; just that he hates Chara's non-murderer personality (ironic)
DESPITE the reality bending and physics defiance, Asriel still has to confine himself to the laws of how souls function
He's still learning how to use the visions into other universes; he now cherrypicks ones with the main cast
Too many paper mario references to count
Scrapbook seemingly referencing the one the Perseverance soul stole? Which MIGHT have belonged to Asriel but im not sure
Fake conversations have extra reverb to their voices? i think? some parts do, others dont, and the star conversation has none
Hospitalizing Asgore is revealed to be ASRIEL'S IDEA??? I don't remember this ever being brought up??
