Hi Skullhead! I buy this snack for my dog from the store frequently. They're very very expensive now (much more expensive than my own snacks!), especially lately with the inflation and the prices doubling. And you don't know what quality of chicken they use or the ingredients they put in. Your recipe sparked a great idea in my head that I can make this for my dog too! Probably taste better, way healthier ingredients, cheaper too. Thanks a million from me and my dog!
Hi and thanks for stopping by. I normally make 1 or 2 chicken breasts at a time so when I make these for Loki, I have plenty on hand. I don't like to keep them around to long cause there are no preservatives in the chicken, so if they aren't dried properly they can get moldy. They are so easy to make, he can have some in no time at all, and for that reason alone I don't make to many at a time. As for price, you are so right, it can get very expensive. I normally buy chicken when it's at a good price and freeze it. I don't buy chicken I wouldn't eat myself, cause normally I would be thawing 4 or 5 pieces at once. 1 or 2 for him if I need to make some to be dried and the rest for meals for myself and the family. I enjoy making these for Loki cause I know what is in the treat. The dehydrated chicken is just that "Chicken" no other surprises to worry about that might harm him.
