Hello, I was wondering if these headsets can be used with a goxlr? I am debating on getting these headsets but I want to continue to use the goxlr with these. Thank you for your videos! They are always great!
One thing you need to note is that the wired version comes with the actual gamedac gen 2. While the wireless version just comes with just the base station. Which doesn’t have the gamedac gen 2 ESS Sabre Quad-DAC chip in it.
BIGGEST QUESTION: Can you use the wireless headset with a wired connection to get the same sound quality as the wired headset but still retain all of the same features as the wireless??? ie bluetooth...
@@BroncoBuzz good question. This is the first thing that popped in to my head too. Did you ever find the answer to that question?
can we use custom Equizer on DAC without downloading Sonar app ??? does wired model works with iPad mini 6 (as it has type c jack for headphones connectivity)???
The difference in the microphone was quite shocking, to be honest. I had no idea the wired one sounded so much better.
Same, I will be buying new headphones in beggining of next month and was curious what was a diffrence between them
I was curious about that too. Wondering if default mic settings differ or perhaps he was tinkering with settings beforehand. I'm not implying he was trying to be disingenuous, mind you.
most likely it's because he's using Bluetooth instead of the wireless 2.4ghz dongle, there is a huge difference in bandwidth between Bluetooth and the 2.4 ghz wireless, if your gaming on pc, your most likely going to be using the dongle so this review is quite misleading overall.
Wired always going sound better
@@14.69-h4s thats so true. I have wireless and bluetooth is so bad, but 2.4ghz is amazing. And you can have wired if you want it's a cable with it.
I like this guy. He’s very clear with everything he says. And goes into some details other reviewers don’t. reviews don’t feel paid for. I subbed
yes he`s clearly got a huge background in hifi audio so he is able to organise his thoughts and dial into the key points when discussing the sound quality. that part of the review was gold
I just bought the wired version and I have zero complaints. The sound is fantastic. I used the custom EQ to adjust the bass like I want it, and I hear every instrument being played. The drums sound great, the bass pops, the highs are crisp. I think they are a great value for the price. As far as the parts made of plastic, I don't mind as it keeps the headset light. I play on PC and I do not see these parts being a problem being made of plastic as you are only using them to set on your head, not dig a ditch with them. Handle them respectfully and don't throw them off your head because you are upset and they should last. I have an ex-large skull when it comes to helmets and hats, they fit very comfortable on my head with no squeezing, or ears touching the inside of the cup. When playing different games, I was amazed at how explosions sound. These headphones made a huge difference in sound effects while keeping the voices and music sounding great. It really added a wonderful difference to my gaming experience I didn't have before. I usually spend around $150.00 for my headphones. The extra I paid for these was well worth it. I love they way music sounds when I am listening my favorite songs. I am a guitar player, so I am picky when it comes to EQ balance. I want to hear every instrument. I am very happy with these head phones and recommend them.
hey doubt you will see this but what eq settings do you use? did you use sonar ?
Your a weirdo for playing on pc
thanks for the comment
The Bluetooth option is amazing. No need yo pick your phone up as you can take the call on your headset. This is what sold me on the arctis pro wireless
I recently bought Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wired and I am blown away by the outstanding sound quality! I Had Sony Inzone H9 for some time, but the sound was disappointing. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The Arctis Nova Pro wired are miles better when it comes to the sound quality.
Can we play mobile gaming on it ?
Is it good on hearing the enemy in game? I’m thinking buying the wired one
I returned my h9s because I was getting a weird digitized gargling sound sometimes. I believe when the bluetooth connection was going in and out. Did you experience this?
Thank you so much for covering this! I made a lot of research on the previous Arctis Pro headset but before buying the new series released, thanks for informing me on the new ones as well.
The reason the dac is angled like that in the wired version is because more than likely it's going to be on your desk next to you, whereas with the wireless it could be across the room from you. You could have it next to your consoles in an entertainment center while you're gaming on the couch so a straight on viewing angle makes more sense. Probably also why there's no push to mute on the wireless dac.
For me, this boils down more to use case than sound quality and features. You know if you really need a wireless headset or not. Like if you game mostly on PC, I don't think you really need a wireless headset, but it would be great in a living room console gaming environment.
The wireless let’s you do wired anyway, plus the additional features of Bluetooth.
@@TheSMSpider does it really let you use it wired with the extra features? If so I will get the wireless. This has been my main question. I really want the Bluetooth feature but also be able to use it wired for the better sound quality
@@slugzz- The bluetooth operates completely seperate from 2.4ghz. It has its own power button. So you can have the 2.4ghz off completely and just use this as bluetooth with your phone or any other device.
I use console but still might get worked as that notch or node, whatever you want to call it in the wireless ear cushion is a nightmare
It's surprising to me how barely anyone is talking about the mic sound quality between the two. I personally own the arctic 3's and they were amazing for the price. It was comfortable, the mic was great, and pretty good sound. The mic quality to me is very important and listening to the wired vs wireless, the wired is crazy better than the wireless. this and the supposedly better sound quality is what got me to buy the wired headset. I also don't care too much about it being wireless as I prefer better audio and mic quality overall. ANC and transparency mode aren't deal breakers as well since my apartment is fairly quiet. Hopefully, sound isolation is good! Great review as well Techne!
not entirely true. i bought both wired and wireless. And for my use case, i only hear music from youtube. Not much of a differenc between the wired and wireless. in games, also no diff because games dont use high res audio. I returned the wired one and kept the wireless because wireless is way more convenient. When i was using the wired ones, the wire kept getting pulled by my chair arm rest.
Too bad that people who have a living room setup can't use the wired version when they play on console on their tv since they would need to sit right in front of their big tv which sucks for the eyes and seeing the entire screen is impossible. If only the wireless version was just as good.
@@jamesmadison3108 Did you notice the difference in ANC between the two?"
One feature people miss out is the transparency mode. When you play FPS with spatial mode and gain on to listen to people's steps and you turn on transparency mode to talk to someone in the room without pulling your headset off is also a massive plus! You don't yell at them, you don't take your headset off, and you can talk to them and play at the same time.
Wait really, that's a thing on these things?
is it on both versions?
@@rhodev6508 No, because there's no active noise cancellation on the wired. It's only necessary on the wireless version, with ANC on.
Does Sidetone (on both)not do a similar thing?
Sidetone
Just got the wireless one , sound is amazing to me . Better then any razer or logitech i had in the past . And the swappable batteries were the mean reason to buy this one . Good job Steelseries !
we danes does make good headsets >3
With the amount of cord aggravation I've had over the years, plus the original Arctis being with me the longest of my last few pairs, I'm heavily leaning wireless. Plus I wouldn't miss anything in calls when I need to step away.
I went with the wireless version. I will use all the features. The sound quality is very good as far as I can tell. With a little messing with the eq I got a sound that Im happy with. To me the noise cancellation works pretty well for my situation. I always have an ac running in the computer room and it pretty much cuts it all the way out. With it turned off I can definitely hear the fans from the ac. Mic quality is just ok. Not the best but will work. The nub in the ear cups doesnt bother me any. Doesnt even touch. I will replace the ear pads once they are available. Overall Im happy with my purchase. I dont really think you can go wrong with either one. Main thing for me was getting rid of the cable.
Can u help Bro I've downloaded sonar on pc but how do I save it so I can use on xbox plus how do I get spacial audio
@@Kehoe3131 I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure sonar is not going to work on console.
@@blackjack19811 bit shit that then
@@Kehoe3131 Sonar doesn’t work on console at the moment. But heard someone say they asked a rep about it and that “they were looking into it.” So fingers crossed that’s something they can do.

I've used the Artics Pro (PS4), Artics 7p (PS5), and now the Nova wireless (PS5). I can say without a doubt the Nova blows them out of the water

Thank you been curious about this
You think the wired version would sound even better?
@@user-og8kb4yk6k Wired will ALWAYS sound better but the wireless version is amazing
@@HeyImGreenArrow agreed just trying to weigh the wireless features vs the wired. If it's that much better sounding ill go wired. I have yet to find a wireless headset that sounds great to me for ps5. Haven't tried the penrose tho
When it comes to a gaming headset for me, sound quality is the top priority. Thats why I went with the wired. Even on console the wired sound stinkin 👏 amazing
Thanks Zech, I feel the same - I am going to get the wired verison.
Which wired version
@@soulja617 wired version of the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro
I bought the wired version and nobody can hear me on my mic, it shows I have a mic connected but when I talk it's not registering in the xbox party, any ideas why? Other than that headset works great
@@zechprime7114 I have the same but I don’t have access to sonar. I’m stuck with the default GG pre sets. Looking for a good custom one for footsteps..
I currently use the Astro A50 gen 4 on my Xbox series x and I love them but I’m intrigued about this new nova pro wireless I was just checking if this was going to be on one of your upcoming comparison videos??? Love watching your videos keep up the good work👍🏻
Ehrm I had wireless in ny basket, watched the video > deleted wireless from the basket > added wired > £ 125 pounds saved, arriving tomorrow to replace my wired hyper cloud x2s. Thanks man.
I have the wired and gonna tell you it's a beast, best headset
@@AVguitarchannel I got mine today and it is really great. Annoyances: 3.5 mm jack cable is too short. I had to buy 3 meter one from amazon. I want to route the cable so it wont be visible and my movement wont be restricted.
Shame gamedeck screen does not have screen saver. I am scared of olded burn in.
I am struggling to set my punchy default on sonar but headset is amazing. Wow.
@@MrGESE-ue4se Does the cable that you bought from Amazon do it's job? No delay in audio due to it not being the cable that was made for this headset? Do they have braided versions of that cable too for extra sturdiness?
@@VRBH1I bought extension cable and mic and everything else is working great. With the 1st cabke mic dud not work but my ugreen extension cable works.
I had the X cloud 2s then grabbed thr X cloud 3s just sent tje 3s back as they wasn't as good as the 2s. Going to get the wired ones now
You literally had a video prepped for the questions I had in your reviews. Great comparison, all I needed to know to pull the trigger on the wired version.
For me, i would prefer wired nova pro. Im just a pc gamer and nowhere near the console, and i just appreciate better for the better sounding system where I could enjoy my music as i love to have that punchy bass into my head. Had wired arctis pro, and it’s phenomenal. No idea how the nova wired would sound if it’s even better than the arctis pro.
same la tebaik
Wireless for that Bluetooth, using UA-cam guides for games I’m playing and taking calls without having to take the headset off is a massive feature for me. I also play on my recliner in my games room so wires are a no go. Shame we have to sacrifice sound quality but hopefully wireless audio gets closer to wired some day soon. I’m also holding out for Astro to drop the gen 5 A50s as currently own the gen 4’s and love them using both Xbox and PS docks but wish they had Bluetooth and better audio over USB.
I went with wired because I prefer the audio quality. However I´d really, really prefer if there was wired version with ANC. I love ANC on my AirPods pro and considering I have AC on for whole summer, ANC would be appreciated.
Does it make that much of a difference?
I figured the wired version would sound significantly better than its wireless counterpart, but having that interchangeable battery, the bluetooth, no wire dangling, that's what justified it for me, the sound on these is amazing so I can only imagine how good the wired ones sound. Also, I'm having the same issue as you with that part touching my ear, very uncomfortable. Other than that, I love it. Thanks for the honest reviews & comparisons!
The part touching the ear is that bad ? I mean if its to the point where i feel them all the time and not get used to it i will be disappointed !
Thanks for your comment I think I’m gonna go with wireless because of what you said. The wire can be in the way and I’m playing on a desk.
Think about brain, cancer, and Bluetooth
I got myself the WIRELESS can't even image how much better teh wired would sound as this is already very very balanced clear detailed refined sound! as an audiophile i hear the limit of wireless but I don't care, it's really good, no distortion, no static, very good for music too (on pc u really need the sonar equalizer set to your preferences which is kinda stinker). I'm so fed up with wires being in my way (more than 3 m from my ps4 and tv!) and I wanted good sound so obvious choice for me. about ANC: i jsut realized how good it is when I wnet outside and the trains were so much "muted" and the busy road was almost gone away! in your room it gives that "tranquillity" by muting the outside traffic noises and the zooming of ventilation and stuff, you still hear high end ticks like typing or people's voices or noises while browsing papers. but traffic and other background noises were (almost)gone which made me feel al lot more zen..
Nice to hear you like the Nova Pro Wireless. Two questions: 1: The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless supposedly comes with a 3.5mm cable and can also be used with a controller too, without using the dac. Do EQ-settings and/or Sonar settings carry over to the headset when using the 3.5mm cable in a controller without using the dac? 2: Since you have a Playstation yourself, are there enough ports on the PS4/PS5 in order to connect two Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headsets with the dac to 1 console for couch-co-op? Are there enough ports on the PS4/PS5 to make that happen in a living room setup with a table in between the couch and PS4/PS5 on a gaming tv?
I bought the arctis wireless pro almost 3 years ago for a little over 200 usd while they were on sale direct from steel series. It seems it's time to upgrade them but once the Nova get on one of those crazy discounts.
Thank you, your informative and quick to the punch video is what made me decide to go with the wired versions. Not having the features the wireless has does kinda suck but ive never really cared for transparency mode or any of that stuff so the tradeoff for slightly better audio is fine with me!
Yea ikr. People nowadays pay too much for useless gimmicks man.
For example the swappable batteries are so unnecessary. They have batteries up to more than 20 hours with a charge time of like 15 minutes. Go take a shit or take a shower and leave the headphones charging and theyre full. No need to pay extra for swappable batteries.
Transparency mode? Man just put the headphones off for a sec, you look stupid talking with headphones on to someone who's in the same room as you lol
@@tunod-😂
If you wire the wireless you got the same frequency range like the wired but you got all the wireless functions. But besides that The "normal" hearing frequency range is between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz and decrease in the mid twenties quite quick.
frequency range does not decide the sound quality at all
Went with the wired one, despite I was using the Arctis Pro Wireless before. I love Wireless and I am kinda sad to lose that, but if the difference in Sound between wired and wireless is close to the difference of their mics.. than those are two completely different worlds and I need to experience the better sound this time.
I think a lot of people are forgetting that you can still plug in the wireless headphones for the same exact wired experience. On the website, the HZ limits when both are plugged in are exactly the same.
@@boxstar3d554 are you sure? I thought the Wireless-BaseStation has no DAC.
@@boxstar3d554 how do u plug it in just via usb-C?
@@boxstar3d554 Not true, the wireless base station is simply a transmitter not a DAC, you will not get the same sound.
@@bl_incxgnito the frequency difference is 5-40000 on wired while the wireless is 10-40000. Unless you’re a true analyst and audiophile. You’ll never know the difference.
All about the wired basically PC or console; can't you connect 3.5 via the wirless, and therefore obtain that same quality as the wired? Please confirm.
this review was awesome, actually gives pros and cons instead of trying to make them both seem like good options. thanks!
For me wireless. I still have my 2017 original Wireless Pro and they look and sound as good as day one. At this point, I think there is no point going wired. Wireless headsets, mice, and keyboards have achieved a level where you cannot tell the difference between the two. Just the ability to move around and not see any cables on my desk makes me choose wireless all day long.
@Sneef would you say in a FPS game this is a huge plus? like playing tarkov wireless vs wired?
can you just use the wireless ones with a wire and still have ajust as good audio as the wired ones? im thinking about upgrading from the Arctis pro + Game Dac (good deal ATM) but my main is pc but would be nice to be able to use with my phone or if i want to use with my laptop. i dont want to lsoe any amount of audio quality no matter how little
I’ve watched most of your videos on these headsets and I’m still so indecisive. I would 100% utilize the Bluetooth and probably will be using anc/noise canceling here and there depending on the situation. I won’t say that I’m an audiophile but u kinda made it sound that it’s worth skipping over the Bluetooth feature just for the audio quality. Does the wireless version not have the rumble the wired version have that you described or is it just that the rumble is less. I know you said you don’t like messing around with the software so when you were testing out the headsets did tweaking with the eq and other stuff bring it closer to the wired version or still no contest. There’s so much more I wanna say but right now I’m steering towards the wireless one. Thanks for all these videos. I just wish it was an easier choice.
My SteelSeries Arctis Pro in four years of 2019-2023 it had served me very well not as a gaming headset, but a monitor headset. It broken like everyone else headset. I use it for audio editing, listing to music and when everyone else is in the Livingroom. I still have them as broken. I use the pressure of the headset to my head and a few F...s and other words it nicely on my head. I am looking to getting the wired headset!
Glad to know I probably won't regret the wired version
Great video! Is there a difference in sound and mic quality when you use wire with wireless version? I know it kinda defeats the purpose of the wireless headphones but it would offer more options when using with diffent devices and situations. Thanks.
I would also like to know this if the sound and and audio is the same as the wired one when the wireless headset it plugged in with 3.5mm if it is I’d rather go for the wireless one hopefully we can get answer
Audio quality is far better on wired ones.
@@martinjp6792 Both use the same drivers so a wireless connected to a DAC by cable should be equal quality.
@@NotSadAwesomeInstead yes, but the GameDac 2 is not available for the wireless, so until that happens, wired will have supperior Sound quality.
@@martinjp6792 Has that changed in the 2 years since your comment? Is the gamedac 2 available for the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless?
The biggest question is that how wireless version perform when using wire connection. Does it have a great audio & mic quality as the wire one?….this is what i expect that this video would mention and conclude at the end, but lastly it didn’t 😅 however, i still believe that it could (as almost every wireless headsets in the market could!!)
@Pris Version Nope. but i already got a Audeze Penrose after watching lots of review on wireless gaming headphone (including this one),and its sound is very close to perfect for me
I ordered the wired version a couple of days ago have yet to receive it thank you very much for your videos helped my decision a lot.
Thanks for these videos, I just picked up a wired pair this morning and can’t wait to use them.
I just got the Wireless version for the simple fact i sont like the cable anymore, it can break and also the 2 batteries is infinite battery so you dont run out of battery and also the Bluetooth conection on the phone while playing games is also crazy.
As someone who doesn't travel a lot, the wired version is a win for me. I just need a great sounding headphone with good mic.
Wireless all day long - no restrictions- it’s so easy to swap from Xbox and ps5 and I can use my phone for calls. Absolutely love them :)
As someone who already has an option for higher tier sound (Sound blaster GC7 + PC38X) the wireless version is an easy win for me.
That higher quality sound is great for sure but there are plenty of games I play that I like to lean back in my chair on while I mindlessly grind and THAT is where a wireless option beats that cable out.
I can always just switch back to my wired kit whenever I play something a bit more serious.
I hooked my PC38X's up to the rear of the wireless DAC and it works good and you can adjust everything with SONAR. Try it and see what you think.
@@oldandslow8994 I definitely will, or I might use the 3.5mm option in the Nova’s with my GC7.

Thank you very much for your review. It helped me to make a decision and buy the Nova Pro Wireless.
I would like to add my experience with the Nova Pro Wireless.
Well, it is a gaming device, but I wanted a headphone which also is good for listening to music. I think, when music sounds good, a game also sounds good.
I bought mine Nova Pro Wireless about 2 hours ago and I am currently listening to Ted Nugent`s Stranglehold and wow: That rocks.
Before I heard School Days from Stanley Clarke and the baseline of that song is presented just sharp, present and so powerful. WOW.
I switched from the Artics 9 wireless, which I had for 4 days this week, coming from a 30 Dollars headphone, which I used for years, now I spent 375 Euros in Germany, but it needed to be. The Arctis 9 Wireless was not so bad but I wanted more punch, more power, more clarity, just a better headphone. And I felt in love with wireless. And I knew that I had to accept some flaws compared to a wired headphone.
What I strongly recommend besides all those great rewies - this included - if possible test not only whether the headphone fits to your head, test the sound, listen to your favourite music in the shop if possible. Wait some days, do not buy without testing and listening for yourself.
I did not follow my advice, I wanted a new headphone and I wanted it now. :)
If I had given me more time and would have looked for opportunities to listen to headphones I am interested in I think that I would have bought another headphone, and mybe I would have spent more money.
Neverthelesse the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless delivers a really sharp and powerfull sound, IF the source has the appropriate quality. !!!!!!!!!
To my taste it lacks a little of capabilities in the mid and higher range.
On the other hand, I still know HOW Stanley Clarke and Ted Nugent sound when delivered through a three channel bass reflex box and I doubt that even a Audeze Penrose can cope with that.
Last but not least technically the headphone and the wireless base station work well together and are easily adjustable and controlable.
Compared to the Arctis 9 wireless, which is 200 Euros cheaper, I like the Nova Pro Wireless better: It sounds better, has more power, the design is better, functionality is good and control buttons are placed in an ergonomical way.
Hope I could give some useful information.
Great review with awesome detailing, but what if you use the wire cable on the wireless version? Does it enhance the microphone quality in any way?
I really want to thank you for all your videos, I've been deep diving for a new headset for over 2 hours. I even went as far as buying the wireless nova pros for $349.99 (Xbox version because I wanted compatibility across the board.) I came across this video and and cancelled my order. (If my cancel failed I was going to keep them.) It was fated, as my cancel went through right away and ordered the wired ones.
I liked what you said about the noise cancelling nub and about what features you'd would I actually use and that was the nail in the coffin. I also opted for PC version which saved me an additional 13% on amazon. so I paid 217.99 for PC/PS wired version instead of $249.99 Thanks again!
Is the wire long enough if i want to play on a TV ?
@@dishkaa_lm1018 Yeah it's plenty long. I believe it also comes with an extender. I ended up returning the Arctis Nova Pro and got the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (kids) I loved the wired set, but I have a 3 and 1 year old and that wasn't going to work.
picked up the wired version and I was blown away but I ended up returning them for the wireless version. I have gone full wireless mouse, keyboard, controller and now finally my headset. I don't think I can ever go back to anything that is wired.
How big was the sound difference ?
I just got my wired set today. And I must say they sounds phenomenal. I hate all the cords, but the sound Definitely makes up for it....
I got the wireless version as it ticks so many boxes in one headset; unlimited battery life, can talk on my phone with dual Bluetooth/2.4, can connect my work desktop and personal desktop to it (I do a LOT of zoom/Teams calls for work) and I run a loud fan in my room and man that ANC is a godsend. If I was buying a headset for strictly gaming I’d probably get the wired version though, but as an all-in-one phone/work/play headset? Worth every penny.
I'm gonna be getting the wireless version. I have the arctis pro wired right now and the sound quality is awesome which is why I got them, but the wire is too much of a hassle for me now. Keeps getting caught on the arm of my chair and getting pulled off of my desk and over time it has broken because of this. The sound guality on wired isnt crazy better or very noticeable for most people so for me the wireless version is the way to go.
I owned the wireless Novas but after 3-4 hours of gaming they started to hurt on my ears. It’s the tiny mic in the middle of the speakers for the active noise canceling. I could see the red dots in my ears and it looked not good. So I decided to switch over to the wired model.
The wired version feels better?
buy the wicked customs ear pads
I never wander from my PC much when I'm in that setting and have no need to stay on the headset when I do wander off and no use for the extra features but for some reason I am still bias to wireless but I think you have convinced me to go wired, its not like I'm really gonna notice the cable, its cheaper and its better mic and sound quality its a win all around really and suits me
Got a few questions regarding this headset and it's wireless counterpart:
1: Does the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless Xbox version work to it's full capacity (Sonar and Engine settings) on PS5 and Xbox Series X when using the 3.5mm wire when it's plugged into a controller and if not, what features are missing?
2: I've used a Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X headset on PS5 due to it''s multiplatform use and that dongle had delay and robot microphone audio at times when using 2 of the same headsets on PS5. Is this an issue with this headset too?
3: Several people state that the earpads in the Nova Pro wireless aren't deep enough and that the ANC point in the earpads puts pressure on the ears on top of the fact that the headset is supposedly less comfortable than previous Steelseries headsets ánd the earpads are a bit smaller than other headsets too. What's people's opinion on this?
4: Is couch-co-op on the same console possible when two people have this same headset and use the gamedac wireless or does the base PS5 not have enough ports to be able to use 2 Arctis Nova Pro Xbox wireless headsets at the same time? The standard PS5 has three USB-A ports and one USB-C port. Is that enough for having 2 people play couch co-op on the same console at the same time?
Don’t know if you’ve gotten your answer already or not but GadgetryTech answers all your questions on his review of them, it’s like a 30 min video but very very informative
Can you compare the audio quality for wired version vs the wireless version when wired? I’m curious since the wireless version claims to have the same Headphone Frequency Response of 10-40,000 Hz when wired. That’s almost double the 10-22,000 Hz when wireless and I would think that would be noticeable. I tried asking SteelSeries customer support but they had no idea.
good question I would like to know
I got both to test out. The wireless version gives you the same audio quality as the wired ones when connected to the Gen 2 DAC via 3.5mm (not the transmitter). The transmitter puts out 24 bit 2 channel 48000Hz compared to the 2 channel 24 bit 96000Hz Gen 2 DAC in windows. However, when you activate sonar on either it puts out 8 channel 16 bit 48000Hz. I am no audiophile by a long shot but wired with the Gen 2 DAC sounds better than the transmitter. But the features with the wireless model are pretty neat too. BTW, you lose all wireless connectivity when you have a 3.5mm cable plugged into the wireless model.
TLDR: Get the wired version for better audio quality with the included Gen 2 DAC or get the wireless version for the nice wireless features with swappable batteries. Both are great buys. Just depends on the user.
Hope that helps!
@@MrLopez1285 Thanks for sharing this. Shame the transmitter didn't include the same DAC given the extra price already, but I can see why they didn't.
I already have a nice DAC in my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 3 interface, which I current have wired to Sony WH1000XM3 headphones. This is for improved quality and latency for music production in Ableton Live, but I wouldn't mind going back to wireless headphones for casual UA-cam listening, gaming, or rarely on the PS5 (although that's in another room so would have to move the transmitter).
I'm not too worried about the mic (I have an Elgato Wave) or the Sonar software features for now.
So I'm thinking I could keep using the multiple virtual audio devices in my Elgato Wave software which outputs via USB to my Focusrite interface, and from there connect a cable from the Focusrite headphone output to the Nova Wireless transmitter Line In input for low latency gaming. If I'm doing any serious music work I can connect directly from the Focusrite headphone output to the headphones just like I'm currently doing with the Sony headphones.
I'd likely still have to connect the transmitter via USB for power, but hope I can bypass that direct connection. Otherwise I can add a StreamDeck icon to switch between the Focusrite USB and Nova Pro Wireless USB output devices as needed. (I also have studio monitors connected to the Focusrite).
Thank you for listening to my TED talk. I typed this out mostly for my own benefit to make sure I wasn't forgetting something.
@@MrLopez1285so the gen 2 dac works with the nova wireless pro
I'm watching your videos, congratulations I appreciate them very much. I got both versions and as you say the version with the cable sounds better. I will make the wireless returns even though I really appreciated being able to connect them to my iPhone.
Hey man, have you tried using the wireless version wired? Was the quality the same that way or was the wired version still the clear winner in terms of sound quality?
@@Tadrax no, because the wireless version don’t have the GameDAC like the wired version.
You never disappoint 👏🏿👏🏽👏🏻. I play on Xbox Series & PS4. If I had $350 to drop on a headset I would definitely go w/the wireless. My consoles are set up about 10 ft from where I sit. Having Bluetooth is a must. Answering phone calls and being able to game during Zoom meetings/trainings (when I can have the camera off).
That work from home lifestyle I’m so jealous wish I had that I’d be doing the same 😭
The biggest and most important difference is Bluetooth. I bought the wired one and was surprised that it did not have Bluetooth!!
Great video very informative thanks for that! I had a question can I use the Xbox wired pair with my pc as well? As in can I connect the doc to my pc and Xbox ?
Are the wired still worth in 2024 or are there better wired headphones now
After watching this you really sold me on the wired ones just bought them and Gonna test them out
howd it go? I have the wireless and its good but there is a small room for improvement sound wise
The sound especially the bass sound wonderful. love it!
Super helpful video! I just picked up Nova Pro Wireless. It has an option to use the 3.5mm jack. If you do that would that sound as good as the Nova Pro Wired? Thank you!
Bought the wired set to replace my TB stealth 700 gen 2 as the battery was loosing performance after 2+ years. Must say I can finally hear enemy footsteps on warzone. Happy with my choice. Set the EQ to focus and you're good to go👍
Hi Techne another great review loved it... To replace my Arctis 9 X I would probably go with the wireless and I would use the features I love the hot swap feature on the battery way way back I had the Triton Warhead 7.1 headset and this has a spare battery that charged in a dock... However one thing stopping me from buying it today is a Audeze Penrose comparison review by yourself... Watch this space...
This vid changed my decision to go wired. Better sound quality and $100 cheaper? Ok. Thanks for the great stuff as always.
So I recently bought the Nova 7s and had buyers remorse almost instantly. Planning to return and buy some pro's instead but couldn't make my mind up on which... Think I'll get the wired though. As much as I love wireless and Bluetooth, the wired pros just look like a better headset for the money...
I recognize that buyers-remorse. I also owned the Arctis Nova 7's, specifically the 7X version due to it's multi-platform use and mine were mostly shit too. Imo, the headset was extremely comfortable ánd it had simultanuous bluetooth when using the dongle but the dongle itself had issues. My brother and I both had a 7X and using both wireless at the same time on a PS5 caused our voices to regularly cut out during part of a sentence, the dongle would disconnect in the middle of recording a gameplay video. One could say something like: ''I'm going to school'' and the sentence would come out as: ''I'm....to school.'' Sometimes words wouldn't get cut out but sentences would sound robotic. Besides those problems, our voices would be extremely soft when using the dongle/bluetooth as opposed to using the 3.5mm cable instead. Was glad to send that headset back.
Long story short... I busted my Astro A40's I bought in 2020 and order another one. Within a couple days both my ears were a sloppy mess of oozing blisters. Some kind of allergic reaction so something changed within the 3 yrs I owned the other set.
Ended up ordering the Nova Pro wired. Should get here this Wednesday. Also ordered a pair of replacement pads from Wicked Cushions as I'm not a fan of the leather like pads that make my ears sweat. Sure hope for the price that these sound better than the A40's (which I loved) and crossing fingers I don't have any allergy issues with these.
Also planning on hooking these up to my Sound Blaster Ae-7 soundcard which I'm sure is better than the included DAC.
Thanks for this comparison. I had a hard time choosing a great headset and finally made the decision to go with the nova pro wired for my ps5. Got mine on a special, and I must say I'm super happy with the wired. Keep up the great work with all the reviews, it helps us alot. Stay blessed brother ✌️
I sure love the arctis pro with dac and wireless version and already ordered the nova pro wireless for xbox (still waiting for it to arrive) to just have a single headset for everything instead of changing headsets for every system I use and also to avoid downtime having to charge them with the short cables I have. What interests me would be a comparison between the arctis pro wired with dac and the nova pro wired, to see if there's any substantial upgrade in terms of sound and features, or just keep the arctis pro wired and instead going for a dedicated dac and headphones in the future for wired connections. I mostly play on consoles and move around the house, so wireless with a single device for everything sure comes in handy but definitely using headphones and audio interface on pc is on another level and must say I'm pretty happy with what I have but might consider upgrading in the future and this sure looks interesting. Gonna watch all your comparison vids as usual anyways lol.
Hey dude if you don’t have an Xbox don’t get the Xbox version. I say this because the Xbox dedicated port if used to connect to PC won’t let you use Sonar on PC which also means no chat mix on PC. If you do have an Xbox then disregard
@@mannyfresh7065 What about the other port on pc?
Looking forward to you comparing the new ones over Arctis Pro Wireless and Wired Headsets.
Me personally I prefer wireless headphones but I need the best audio for the type of gaming I do, I got to try both out b4 I bought it and the wired ones are just perfect only downside is that their not wireless, but the most shocking difference was the mic quality. I recommend the wired ones
I think you're underselling, that it can do everything. It works wirelessly on both next gen consoles. There's BT, 2.4 and ANC. Comes with a DAC. The $350 pricepoint is fair for all of those features.
The wireless one isn’t a dac it’s just a base station no high res audio or amp steelseries should make it clear for 350 quid it should come with the gen 2 dac like the wired one
Awesome video as always. I'm a huge SS fan so I went ahead and ordered both to replace the previous versions. I'm breaking in the wired version now. The wired version sounds amazing and I'm blown away by the weight. The wireless version is still sitting in the box. I'm thinking I jumped the gun. I use the wired version version for PC and the wireless version for PlayStation. The problem is I also own the Penrose.... What got me interested in the wireless is the ANC. However, Techne review and a few others make it sound like the ANC feature needs some refinements. I always wanted a wireless gaming headset with Sony/Bose level of ANC. I know the leather cups provide good isolation. I've never used the old AirWeave. I use the SS replacement leather cups on all my SS headsets. Anyway, big decision to make when it comes to the wireless version.
its 2022 bro get the wireless esp if u like wearing it around the house
Has Steelseries improved the software on the Nova Pro Wireless version in the 2 years since you commented to make it better for you to use? Also, would two people be able to each use their own Nova Pro wireless on the same regular PS5 at the same time with a dac each or does the regular PS5 not have enough USB ports for that?
@@VRBH1 tech has improved a lot. It features an overwhelming amount of customization. It's constantly being updated with QOL improvements. It's one of the most feature rich, stable device apps out. This isn't too resource heavy, but it does want to take over most connected devices. I don't think you can connect multiple steelseries headsets to one DAC. I've tried in the past, each headset is paired to the DAC it shipped with or something.
@@anddo24 I see. Would it be possible for two people with their own SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headsets to connect each DAC to the same PS5/Xbox at the same time for couch co-op? The PS5 has 4 ports (3 USB-A, 1 USB-C) and the Xbox Series X has 3 USB-A ports. USB splitters seem problematic, so I'd rather avoid that option unless there are no viable alternatives.
The ideal would be to connect my own SS NPW with the dac to the PS5/Xbox and for my friend to the the exact same with his when he comes over. If this is possible, that might make me consider buying the Nova Pro Wireless. Only thing then would be to decide which version of the Nova Pro Wireless to use since I don't PC game (yet) but my friend does.
@@VRBH1 It should be possible on the PS5. The PS5 assigns audio devices to user profiles. I'm not sure if one profile can use two audio devices simultaneously. However, you can definitely assign audio devices to a secondary account simultaneously. USB hubs work but must be USB UAC 2. The Xbox USB situation is a convoluted mess. I'm not sure how this type of setup would work on Xbox.
I came across your videos and I’m kind of new to the Gaming world and I want something good right the bat! Thank you for all your points of view.
Thx for the great comparison! Your video is the best one to compare these two versions on UA-cam! Just one more question, if connect the wireless Nova Pro headphones to wired GameDAC gen 2, will it also able to provide great audio? Is the sound quality limitation at the wireless controller box only? Or the drivers from these two versions also contribute to the diff? To hx a lot!! 😂
In terms of sound, I own the Wireless version, is there anyone there that have tested both Wireless and wired? I wanted to know if I use the wireless one plugged in, does it have the same quality of sound of the wired one ?
One of the best review vids I’ve seen so I had to sub
You can also go wired with the wireless model because it has a 3.5mm jack for cable
Thanks for this video. To the point and gets very detailed. I am going to go with the Wired version. I have sensitive ears and piercings and that little ANC nub in the Wireless headset is going to annoy the shit out of me, and worse, cause chafing and maybe even headaches.
Techne is speaking to me, I keep buying high end things with features I never use.
Thank you so much for you review! This is exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want to make any compromises on sound quality, I just want to be fully immersed in gaming, no matter what. Again, thanks a lot, man!
I think the same and got the wired, best investment
I bought the wireless version for PS5/PC, I purchased them for the sole reason of them being wireless and the fact i had owned the Arctis Pro Wireless previously. I stinkin love these things, I have a pair of sennheiser hd 650's that I used for most everything else, but I haven't picked them back up since owning these. The Nova Pro Wireless really is the whole package.
Thank you for another stinkin awesome video bro!
So I was leaning to get wireless at first since I game on a laptop and I feel it be nicer to have less wires to put away. But now I'm kinda happy I accidentally bought a wired headset instead
If the wired version had Bluetooth included it would of been a great ! A headset that cost over $200 wired/wireless should include Bluetooth
I'm bound by wireless as a console user who sits about 8 ft. from my entertainment center, and the Bluetooth is a feature I'm spoiled by as I use it to sync up with other devices so I can use Discord. That typically paints me into a wireless corner since I'm soley a console player, with those consoles in the entertainment center. That's my preferred set up but it comes with that minor consequence since I also don't want wires all over the place for the dog or cat, or me, to trip over. So that fact that the Nova Wireless has those features, just makes it a simple answer for me, but I guess I have a two week return window to decide if it's the ONE. Both it and the Penrose have their pros and cons, and the disclaimer for the Penrose is that to get that headset cozy, you need to toss money at Wicked Cushions and Amazon to upgrade it's comfort in the cups and headband. That puts it around the cost of the Nova, so there's some balance to find after that. If the features work better than the Penrose, and I can find that sweet spot sound, that is close to the Penrose, then I'll say this is my new main but if not, my Penrose isn't a bad headset to fall back on!
@@gigolocalypsetv5520 hey man did you get the xbox or non xbox version? And where from

With just the mic test you can tell the quality is better, I always stick to wired headsets fortunately
Thank you bro. I really appreciate you being honest. You sold me the wired, and you just saved me a $100 bucks.
Does your head hurt when wearing this headset and glasses at the same time for hours?

Will the wired version sound even better connecting an optical audio adapter to it?
If the price comes down on the old arctis pro's do they sound as good as the new one's to justify buying the older version cheaper.? Also if you use the jack cable with the wireless do they sound the same as the wired.?

Pretty sure they’re discontinuing them. I say that because I just placed warranty claim on my arctis pro wireless and they’re upgrading me to the pro nova wireless

it is better than wireless, however it wont reach the level of wired version as it is missing the dac2 console.
@@rudiboss7989 Why would Steelseries not include the dac 2 with the Nova Pro Wireless? Has that changed ever since you posted that comment?
@@VRBH1 No, that hasnt changed. The DAC ist basically a device that requires a cable. It is just logical not to include it with the wireless version as most wont use it.
I got the wireless Nova Pros. The sound is good. The sound on Bluetooth listening to music/videos is AMAZING!!!! The 2.4Ghz volume is a lot lower than my Bluetooth volume. That’s my only gripe besides me having difficulty finding a comfortable fit.
yep thanks for the straight to the point..just bought the wired ones and after reading more on specs,,,i came to realize there is a lot of differences and was thinking maybe should get the wireless instead...so yes i will keep the wired ones ,,,funny you mentioned racing that is all i do dirt 2.0 to ACC all that..thankfullythere is aEQ and the sonar/ Nahimc has good EQ as well to curb those High's..,,right on cheers mate (im going from a pair of mixing and mastering Sony MDX headphones to the nova pros...lol,,i need my sony's back for my recording studio ..should be quite a difference).
Nit pick, but next time move the mic closer and further away. Most people don't play with the microphone out at the distance of Pluto and sometimes the distance to mic makes a huge difference. It sounded like the microphone was just out of the right range for you.
Do the wireless version become as good as the wired one when you plug it in with 3.5?
The wired one is better AND cheaper?
had the previous wireless ones that sounded great, and just got the nova wired because I wanted to try the hi-res music, but was a litle affraid from the loss of freedom because of the wire. Damn what a huge difference in sound quality, it sound so much better plugged in the dac !
