Sidewinders is a 'Big IQ' move for these wheels. No riser adapt needed and the extra double Gulls are an ideal suspension system for the skateboard design.
Heck, I've even seen a board (2×) that the trucks were just on the nose and tail in different spots on the deck to accommodate a set of 99mm wheels. The second time, it was a set of 85mm and the guy I told the idea I witnessed just went out and built it the next day.
Also, in my collection is (somehow) a BMW StreetCarver and a Cinnamon Toast Cereal box that holds an actual box of cereal. (Or Cheez'Its)

I have an Atom longboard with these wheels on them for commuting on the rough, pothole ridden, manhole cover and or subway grating every 20 feet, New York City streets and I have to say they've lived up to my expectations. They shine on rough pavement and sidewalks. Don't expect these wheels to take you very far on soft dirt or thick grass. They may market them as "off road" but they don't go as far as you'd think. Stick to tires for real off road boarding.
Be careful of loose gravel. The person who made this video is right. I had my board for about 3 weeks when I was on a city street and I hit a patch of scattered gravel, not enough to notice, and my board skidded sideways and I slipped out falling back onto my elbows embedding that gravel into them. Ironically had I been on soft dirt that gravel wouldn't have mattered.
All in all I'm happy with the board, it is heavy because of the wheels but I'm 6ft 1in and I lift weights so not an issue for me. If you want to ride rough streets then these are good wheels to get. They roll forever and the ride is very stable on a drop deck board. Don't get them for any other type of board because you'll just wear yourself out stepping down to push from the height you'd have to have a board to put them underneath . My main complaint would be just watch out for loose gravel while the wheels are still new, the traction problem improves with use. I would highly recommend them for city use.

I've had these wheels 2+ years now, and the primary continuous benefit for me is giving me the reassurance that: the crappy cracked bad pavement, bad pavement-to-sidewalk transitions, random pebbles, debris, sticks, branches, pinecones, and all those things that you know could send you tripping off your board ... they just don't matter. And Since I use my board daily to get to work as my A to B, that comfortable, reliable functionality is priceless.

i recently got an MBS longboard with these wheels and i love it. i pretty much only ride popsicles or larger cruisers. The tires are definitely soft and bouncy but if you're just riding down a hill or street these are legit! the most comfy ride i've ever had on a board. definitely meant for a long board with the dropped trucks because i cant imagine these on anything else. the riser you would need on anything would probably be massive. it's like driving a monster truck on the street.

Sounds like the perfect rural, run-down industrial town wheel honestly. If they're good for rough compact surfaces, that's the kind of stuff i grew up on, and you really need SOFT soft wheels to ride comfortably on that janky pavement and dirt. I used to get cramps in the soles of my feet because of the vibration, so if these help cut that down at all it'd be a win.

I find they allow my to bomb hills on dirt roads, so that's pretty rad. They definitely can't go in soft dirt but I find they work great on rough terrain, gravel, and over small to medium sticks. These eat death pebbles for breakfast.

  • @jessedesens5845
    @jessedesens5845 2 місяці тому

I have a second set.... The wheels themselves are around a 55 width with only a 35mm contact patch.
All terrains in any form are absolutely useless on grass, gravel, and rough, under maintained (paths).
My wheels are the Ricky Glazier MBS set, currently. I had an original set of black colored ones, which absolutely start to chunk away on really rough, bumpy asphalt. As for traction, they really only barely make the cut..., they are fine on certain trails in my locality, and that excludes any time it rains (why are you skating in the rain and risking warping your board while screwing the bearings to zilch?)
So... My rating is a solid 4 outta 5. My testing conditions are more extreme and adequately test most of the durable boards I've managed to build throughout my simple 15 years experience. I've skated through rain, on greenways & bike trails, and even a few highways and sections of interstate around about 15 states and about 35 WalMart corners. Would I do all that over again with MBS All Terrain? Absolutely, and I would even do it across the entire country.
Now, my caveat is thati dwell in the desert where there is plenty of hard-packed, baked up dirt paths, and similarly less functional sidewalks than ought even be allowed. My particular notion when I build a deck is that one day, it will be capable of crossing several hundred miles eventually, which is easiest accomplished while riding on the bike trails, especially through Metropolitan areas. Not all of the trails are smooth paved and occasionally not even at all. Avoid rocks, dodge tree roots, and if you CAN jump the board across the small stream, don't.....
But yes, I will testify that I have owned two sets of these wheels and the current featured set from MBS & Aussie man Ricky Glazier are easily my go to deck on the Sector 9 Waimea Bamboo on Signature Benji Carver Gullwing Trucks is my first grab over every other skateboard I own.

I've had a set of these wheels for a long time now actually, and in my experience they are most certainly best suited to rougher pavement, not dirt or gravel. I run them on a 10 ply drop down longboard deck thats about 40 inches long with 11.5 inch wide trucks, and the whole setup easily weighs in at around 15 pounds. However, in my personal opinion these wheels most certainly aren't bad especially if you live in more of a mountainous are with less than ideal roads, but I certainly wouldn't put these wheels on any normal park deck or cruiser.
All in all I think that the 75mm range is best for most longboarding applications, and 70mm through 60mm in a softer duro is better for cruisers. Going all the way up to 100mm is more of a niche size for an uncommon application.

Honestly man that's a hard question to answer, first and foremost it's not a deck I purchased, it was gifted to me, original owner said it was to heavy for him to really get any air with.... Which is weird because it's a longboard, granted I've taken this thing to shred a skatepark before but it's really only good for ripping through the bowls in that regard.
Second, having gone back and looked at it, it's actually a 13 ply deck with 2 fiberglass layers sandwiching the main stack, which I suppose technically makes it a 15 ply but eh.
If I had to guess, i think it was actually a mountain board before I got my hands on it, certainly would explain the overbuilt nature of the deck, and the strange comment about not being able to get any air with it.
Sorry I can't be of more help here, the buddy that originally had it has since moved out of state so i can't just ask him either. If you can find anything like it then more power to ya bud.

I have an aluminum beer can board can I use these on it for a beater board so I don’t have to worry about it getting hurt or damaged with some bones big balls bearings and I love riding it The feeling of knowing that you have zero concern of hitting rocks sticks and other obstacles it is fantastic I also didn’t see a patch of mud that was kind of deep and they pushed right through no problem, same situation my buddy’s board literally sank down to the trucks and he went flying

Do you think that ghost board would be good for a beginner, I really like how they look but I don't know if they would be a good choice for my first longboard, also I would probably change wheels and that stuff

If you do that then you have to do that major arc board too and if you do that then you also need to do the curfboard. It's a slippery slope

My main obstacles when I'm cruising are cobblestone streets and sticks, would you recommend getting these over shark wheels?

Hey, I haven't personally tried shark wheels but I have these all-terrain wheels and they work great on rougher roads and streets, and they go over sticks and pebbles really easily for me. Hope that helps!

If you had to choose between SharkWheels and these All Terrain wheels, which would it be?
Specifically asking in regards to overall rough streets, and how well each could handle pebbles and stones, and little sticks.
(Everysingle time I've fallen from a longboard/skateboard, has been due to freaking pebbles)
(I want to minimize this scenario)
    Thanks!

the way i see it is that large wheels will generally be the same. it would be more beneficial to get something like 85mm speedvents or caguamas as rhey use better urethane. mbs and sharkwheels are more of a gimmick and dont really do as they are advertised. cags provide a more cushiony ride and speedvents are the meta for going long distances over all types of terrain. 77a vents shoyld handle rough terrain very well. speedvents are also made of verg high rebound urethane meaning they will hold speed well and go faster overall. they hold a world speed record for a reason

Another thing to consider. You'll have to spend more time cleaning your bearings if you 'off road'.

I'm thinking of buying these wheels with Original S10 trucks. I can't really decide on a good topmount deck with a nice drop to go with that setup.. Does anyone have recommendations? I also heard that these wheels can easily be converted into e-skate wheels which is always nice :)

Would these help dampen vibrations against concrete? I live near a trail that has decent concrete but also it still hurts my arches in my feet bc of the vibration while skating

Ehhh I don’t think it would help that much. You might want to look into a deck shape with less/more concave? It’s hard to say
