Ray is a class act. No bad language. A set of values in his monologues. Family man. That's what sets him apart from the other stand-up comics.
So nothing impressive
@@lampad4549 his comedy is extremely relatable. That's part of his genius.
He's a great actor and he's hilarious, not like Seinfeld who can't act, isn't funny and steals ideas from friends like Larry.
@@lampad4549 Says you who obviously doesn't kow actual talent when he sees it. Ray's been pretty damn successful all these years and got more money and popularity then you'll ever see in your lifetime so I wouldn't talk junk if I were you.
He does swear and tlak about sec but eh sue she’s so known for his family show he says his audience won’t let him get that crass on stage.
So not that he don’t want to but he can’t based on his common audience that won’t receive it
I'm 25 and I grew up watching Everybody Loves Raymond I still love watching reruns and still laugh. I have always enjoyed following Ray Ramano. Ice Age is my favorite movie franchise.
The only TV comedies that make me laugh out loud are THE COSBY SHOW, RAYMOND, WKRP, and I LOVE LUCY. Today’s comedies aren’t much, in my opinion.
The old ones, when comedies ruled, are the good ones.
Ice Age is my favourite movie franchise, too! Ray plays Manny so well, especially in the first one. For being mostly a comedy guy at the time he was able to a bring a lot of dramatic depth to Manny and his voice acting was so great in IA1 and the other Ice Age movies.
@@cards0486 I think the early years of Two And A Half Men were great.. ditto Modern Family. When the kids grow up the shows start to lose steam.
This is my Fav sitcom. I still watch all the reruns..I loved the whole cast. Wish there were more sitcoms like this now
Everybody Loves Raymond will always be my favorite tv show and I love seeing Ray getting the credit he deserves for changing television!
If there is an episode in all of TV sitcom history that is funnier than the Raymond episode where Marie creates an “abstract” piece of “art work” that resembles the female anatomy, well, I sure don’t know what it would be. That episode of Raymond has to be the funniest 22 minutes in all sitcom history, bar none! 😂😂😂
@@davidvankeuren3806 the part where Marie is told what the statue looks like, and after having that revelation made to her she just looks at Raymond and says "oh my God i am a lesbian". just…impeccable timing.
He didn't change television. Norman Lear owns that title
@@GregWatson-wb8ydactually, Lucy and Desi changed television using multiple cameras on film with I Love Lucy! Love Ray and his entire cast.
I still watch it all the time. This morning!
Yes! Finally an interview with my dude Ray! Everybody Loves Raymond is perhaps the most influential sitcom for me as a writer and i grew up loving it and still loving it.
I'm just getting into Ray Romano. Having been sick, I just began watching Everybody Loves Raymond. Great show. I was too busy working over the years to see the broadcast shows. Not that they're similar, but I decided to Chek him out because I'm a Jerry Seinfeld fan. I'm just looking for straight stand-up shows for Ray Romano now. Also love him or hate him, Bill Cosby has been an influence on him and so many other comedy artist. I'm a huge fan, Ray Romano is refreshing to watch even though it's decades late.
I have watched Ray since the show started..still watch his reruns every night..love him and his cast
I had Thanksgiving dinner with Ray in 1987 at his uncle Dewey's and aunt Carletta's house. I was dating his cousin. He was doing stand up then. He was a riot at that table. 😂🤣
did you ever listen to him knowing how big this guy was gonna pop off less than 10 years later? like was there a feeling listening to him where you were like "damn…this guy is special"
Love it!
Ray the everyday guy chasing his dream, perseverance and hard work: great success story (-:
I found everybody loves Raymond in the last few years and it's now one of my favourites. This is such an interesting interview.
Always loved Raymond show... lots of heart... which explains it success
Everybody Loves Raymond is one the best sitcoms and all the actors have done such a fantastic job.I still watch the episodes .
Everybody Loves Raymond & King of Queens
the best sitcoms ever tbh.
@@olfan92 Yes! Also Frasier, Sanford and Son and The Golden Girls.
Thank you for the most transparently honest interview with Mr. Romano. Seriously it provides insight to who he is...excellent.
Raymond was a great show. Also loved his guest shot on The Middle where he shows up at Mike & Frankie’s honeymoon camping trip.
I wish he had talked about the bloopers (which are on youtube), funniest TV bloopers ever
Love Ray❤❤❤🇺🇲
The only show that came the closest to my family. I still laugh even though I've seen every episode dozens of times. Right up there with I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners.
Again, LOVE the work you’re doing here documenting these stories. Great insight into the behind the scenes.
Ray NEVER EVER EVER wanted to be rich.....
Just "making a living"....that was good enough for Ray!
LOL!!!
I had no clue he was a stand up comedian when he came out and I thought I knew them all at that point. I was 16 then. I guess because his stand up wasn't what I watched. I was more into Def Comedy Jam and raunchy type comedy. Jerry Seinfield was the same. I had no clue he did stand up when his show came along, but at that time I figured it was because I was only 11. I never thought his stand up was that funny on the show he did in the beginning, but loved the show. I've never watched Rays stand up. About to though.
My wife and I really enjoyed Men of a certain age. Damn shame it didn’t go longer.
I love this man!
He’s one of the best story tellers in Hollywood. I hang off his every word every time!
There was an interesting omission from this interview.
Ray is one of the funniest stand ups to ever do it.
I've seen better.
@@eddyedwards4955 no you haven't
Everybody loves Raymond, I believe to be the best family sitcom of all time. NO laugh trac here. Check out " Men of a certain age" That could have kept going today.
I could listen to Ray talk all day.😍. Yes. He's my crush sigh🤗
We had a refrigerator at work with a bunch of magnetic letters on it and we always had to keep an eye on the outside to see who's name was going to be in the letters "(name) stinks"!!
Wow! We have David Letterman to thank for Everybody Loves Raymond’s!! I don’t know that
Loved the feature on "Everybody Loves Raymond", however did you realize that you spelled it RAMOND in various places in the video? Pls fix!
He ended up being in a Scorsese movie. Not bad at all
Waiting for the edited version
I don't think he's TV show was the funniest show however, he's such a nice guy and a relatable character (and I'm not American) and it's not as if he isn't funny, that's what makes him, for me, so entertaining to watch whether it is stand up, his sitcom or the amazing acting in so many movies.
He's kind to Phil also, who isn't great, Phil could have been replaced by anybody.
On the TV show, Ray, Brad, Peter & Doris were indispensable, the little girl was surprisingly good too, the wife could have been replaced by anybody and most of the other cast also was replaceable.
😁👍🏻👍🏻
The title card at 21:48 spells the name as "Ramond". And again at 30:54, same mistake. It isn't that difficult to proofread the guy's name, is it??
Wow, look at you catching a typo, you are a genius. Thanks for the lecture Joe
@@MikeA15206 Not just Joe. It is annoying to some of us who still care about professional quality.. This series also spelled Lucille Ball as Luccile Ball. Ick.
Maybe Ray could had played "Ricky" on "Being the Ricardos" movie..
When was this taped? It can't have been 2021 with his references to Bill Cosby.
"No new standup comedians are good."
I think I just heard Dave Chapelle say, "Hold my beer."
Chapelle isn't new or good.
When he mentioned Seinfeld, I said to myself Everybody loves raymond is much better than Seinfeld because I find jerry seinfeld sort of boring Ray Romano I find underrated end of story
How is it funny then Seinfeld
@Lex Kanyima got tired of seinfeld I felt like I watched the same episodes back to back that's why
@@austinwygal3177 back to back ?
Edited. Edited. Edited.
Gollee! They can't spell his show's name right?
I watched a ton of these since they were recently uploaded and the only one that is a good listen is Joan Rivers. Hers was intriguing, and work the listen.
Nothing against Ray, but what does this have to do with the Pioneers of Television?
Ray's grandparents were scalped on the Oregon Trail.
It's annoying that you only show Ray's head and the background is gloomy, you don't show who he is speaking to, or the audience that is there. Very strange idea. I wanted to see other people.
Drivel.
Good stuff liked his show but was better Fan of Seinfeld show
I found the character Ray Romano to be weak, annoying and typically sitcom. It was until watching his other performances that I realized how good of an actor he is.
Cosby 🤮
Never found anything he's said or done as a performer remotely funny. A mystery how he got a show on the air.
I find it depressing that the people who are in charge of setting up "The Pioneers of Television" are in an industry where the lyric or the spoken word is everything. Yet how can it be that they have no concept of what the word Pioneer means ? Pioneer means those who are among the first to explore, settle or develop in this case T V. To be there in its infancy. I understand many of the original pioneers of T V industry have passed on but there are still some left to interview. I am not singling Ray Romano or any of the other non pioneer actors out, Rays show was funny And he has talent. this is not about any of that, A pioneer in T V would be Jack Benny, Yul Brenner, Dick Powell, Those who working in live T V when it began, Actors like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Even Angela Cartwright qualifies as she worked on the Danny Thomas show from 1953 to 57. Many of the actors they showcased here as pioneers started their careers when T V was in its 40th year. Hardly a pioneer. It's like comparing a pioneer family who traveled west in a covered wagon in the middle to later19th century, Who were the first real pioneers, To some guy driving west on route 66 in his 1940 ford and calling him a pioneer.
Put a sock in it.
@@baronvonnembles The truth burns like holy water Baron
He never talked about Patricia Heaton. She was such a huge part of that show. I was very disappointed. Loved the show, but my feelins about Romano have changed.
Why did they make Ray Barone such a lousy husband and uninvolved father? He was a whiny man baby. The only thing he was good for was the paycheck. In real life, Any woman who married him would have done so as a last resort. Same with King of Queens.
I watch the re-runs, only because Brad, Patricia and Doris were so good!
I often wonder where the world would be if all the money the world has invested in movies and fictional television, and invested it into something else. Greed has stunted the world's growth.
People need to make a living, make art, and if people want to buy that product, then they have created an industry that supports many. How many depend on the entertainment industry for their livelihood - from electricians to factories manufacturing Star Wars t-shirts in Bangladesh? Yes, the few actual creators make big bucks, as well they should, when millions of people want their creation that they spent their money to produce. Not everybody can just pull a hit show out of their ass; hardly anyone, as compared to the population. But people sure want to see them.
It isn't evil to be successful. It isn't evil to pursue success! And entertainers do not steal money from the needy.
I like Ray but he is not a pioneer of anything
Good Point. And true.
'men of certain age' was very good in my opinion, but apparently Im alone on this
Any1 else think Ray looks like Arj barker???
