If you really wanna talk true talent, look at some of the actors in Wicked. Some of their longest running cast members playing the role on and off for 14 years, Erika couldn’t handle proper broadway stint if she tried.

I just saw Chicago last week, and I didn't have a clue who she was. She does ok, but I thought her voice wasn't as good as the other main characters, and she held her own with the dancing. Her acting was fine, but she didn't have the vulnerability of Roxie. The show stealers for me were Amra-Faye Wright as Velma, R.Lowe as Mary Sunshine, NaTasha Yvette Williams as "mama", and Raymond Bokhour as Amos. All of the ensemble were amazing, and I would cast any one of those females as Roxie before Erika Jayne. Just my unprofessional opinion, no haters please :)

She never claimed to be a great singer. I think she just like to piss her "haters" off and what better way to do that than to be in a Broadway show even if it's "off Broadway ". She's entertaining and that's showbiz...kid!

I don't know much about her. (I don't watch the show she's involved in.) She is entertaining. Her voice is interesting and not bad. How that translates to the stage remains to be seen. Some people ;may scoff at unconventional casting, but the producers have to be creative in finding individuals who can bring the people in. I'd want to see her, given the chance. I'm a long time fan of the show, since 2011.
Well, I guess her career is over... Well, maybe Cell Block Tango as an encor.
Love me some Erika Jayne, but honestly she was horrible. Definitely the worst Roxie I've seen and I've seen a lot of them. Chicago has been running for so long, they need big names to get butts in the seats and they've done the same things with the Billy Flynn character too over the years (don't get me started on that). I've seen some bad ones before, but this was pretty bad. She needs to stick to what she does well. I salute her for being brave enough to give it a go, but Broadway's just not her thing..

Gosh she is awful not for broadway. I don’t know why they just letting anybody take to the stage. She needs a lot of vocal lessons and her movements are stiff. This could of been a opportunity for someone who actually deserves it.

She was the biggest let down by far.
She is beautiful, and she tries really hard but she is very stiff in her movements and not fluid and impactful at all. It almost seems like they are just doing the best she can not the usual standards per se. She doesn’t seem natural in her performance.
She's not a Broadway actress/dancer. Have you ever watched any of her music videos? She is a lot more relaxed, but that is her wheelhouse. The movements for Roxie are very "Broadway" and I think that may be the issue.

I get it is her first show but I am saying the standards for broadway are not met by her but she is still there. I appreciate her hard work and her progression in her career but that does not mean I don't see her limitations ( at least my opinion )???

I’m just thinking of all the Musical Theatre students and professionals who worked their asses off, tirelessly auditioning, getting door after door shut in their face, and really earning their stripes- just to have the role taken from them by some 50 year old Mid-Life Crisis Barbie from reality TV (who was auto tuned beyond believe in this clip btw) who’s music career is carried and provided for by her old lawyer husband with millions in the bank…

I’ve seen Chicago twice, in mid 2000s it was amazing. The second one was with Erika Jayne in 2019. I didn’t know she was in it and throughout the performance I felt like it was off and just not as good. When Velma performed I got goosebumps. When Roxie performed I was underwhelmed. Afterwords I saw Erika Jayne on Wendy Williams talking about her performance and it made sense. Her voice is fine but not good enough for Broadway. Sadly this is one of many situations of Broadway shows choosing a person with a known name to preform on Broadway, too often those performances are lack luster. Just because some can sing doesn’t make them good enough for Broadway. It’s sad how much standards have gone down. Now I know to research the cast.

Beverly Sawyer I don’t see her as full of herself I just think she is a performer and likes to play dress up dance and act. I actually think she is very down to earth and is much more in touch with what’s really important unlike most of the other housewives

Her as Roxie is actually brilliant because she has the "attitude" to play her! But also the story of Roxie is about an average woman. She's not supposed to be this perfect singer. She's just a regular woman so regardless of how perfect or imperfect the singer portraying Roxie is as long as the person can convey the feeling of Roxie to the audience than that is what REALLY matters!

Two words: STUNT CASTING. Girl can not sing 😭 I have a theatre degree, and as a performer I have multiple awards for musical theatre so I know a little bit about this lmfao she cant sing without auto tune and you can't auto tune a broadway performance without being laughed at. I'm glad covid shut this stunt casting mess down.
