    "Bitter Taste" Lyrics
    The bitter taste
    On my tongue
    Many holes
    The damage done
    It’s bitter sweet
    Black on gold
    Talk is cheap
    Or so I’m told
    I’m gonna ride this bike
    to the edge of town
Roll to the bridge with my eyes shut
    and spit at the stars
    Scream in the dark
There’s nothing I can do to change it now
But if I cut myself open, baby,
you can read all my scars
    Read all my scars
    Hello, goodbye
There’s a million ways to die
    Should’ve left me way back
    Should’ve left me way back
    by the roadside
    Hello, goodbye
I was staring in the devil’s eyes
    Should’ve left me way back
    Should’ve left me way back
    by the roadside
    It’s a bitter taste
    Jagged stain
    On my skin
    Broken leg
    Born again
    Wide glide
    Upside down
    Twisted frame
    My new crown
I’m gonna ride this bike ‘til the break of day
Rollin’ through the garden like the fountain
    won’t take it away
    I’m not gonna change
I’m gonna live so hard these broken wings
will lift me to the sun
so I can burn up in the flames
    Again and again
    Hello, goodbye
There’s a million ways to die
    Should’ve left me way back
    Should’ve left me way back
    by the roadside
    Hello, goodbye
I was staring in the devil’s eyes
    Should’ve left me way back
    Should’ve left me way back
    by the roadside
    It’s a bitter taste
    It’s a jagged stain
    It’s a bitter taste
    It’s a jagged stain
    Hello, goodbye
There’s a million ways to die
    Should’ve left me way back
    Should’ve left me way back
    by the roadside
    It’s a bitter taste

I'm 53 years old. I have never left a comment on any platform like UA-cam etc... I felt compelled to do so after hearing this. For 4:50 i felt hopeful again for modern music. I can not remember the last time i heard new music and wanted to hear it again and again. This hit me like the music i listened to in my youth. So well written and performed. Excellent job Billy and the band. Bravo!

I'm 65 and still enjoy his music to this day. I usually can't listen to the samething over and over. I grow tired of it and move on. In the 90 and even now their isn't much music that I really find appealing. I don't listen to the radio anymore. It was nice when MTV played videos. You could get a feel for what was out there. Billy Idol always had great videos. I like this video and also where he's playing at hover dam. His music is one that I've never became tired of listening to.

Yes, I started to know Billy by a friend of mine whose big brother was a drummer in a small rock band (punk-rock) who played in youth centers in France in the suburbs of Paris at the time (I'm French). I was 16 years old. At the time Billy Idol was still part of the "Gen X" band. To say that it was a really long time ago, I also remember Killing Joke, The Clash, etc. (At the time in France, in the same kind of music we had "Les garçons bouchers", "Trust", Téléphone, etc. and a little later "La Mano Negra", "Les Négresses Vertes", etc.)

I miss the days when you could go to s record shop. There was one where I grew up and every week they would have anywhere from a couple of albums on sell to maybe 5 or 6. I went every Friday or Saturday and bought the albums. I also went to used record shops close to various campuses. They would sell albums to go out for a weekend or buy something like else they needed. A lot of pot . Remember when you could buy albums for 2.00 sometimes less. I have over 3000 albums. Didn't want to pay the price of CD'S when they came out. So I bought cassettes which I have maybe just 500 of those. I started buying CD'S and have more than 3000 of them last time I counted them it was close to 4000. I've bought a few since but that was years ago. I use to go to used CD stores around AZ State . I had a small notebook I kept with a list of music I was looking for. I'd also leave a list with the used stores and when they got a CD in I was looking for. People would bring in CD'S and they would have stacks of them on as counter that they hadn't priced yet. Thry would tell people to leave them alone they need to price them and go through to see if anything was there that people had requested. They ket me go through them probably because I bought a lot if CD'S. I'd always leave with a stack. One guy wss going in to sell the complete catalog of the Beatles. I met him in the parking lot before he made it in. I asked him what he wanted for them , he said I don't know. I said I'll give you 50.00 right now he thought for a min and said ok. What a steal. I have the original albums. My albums are all super clean. No scratches on them when holding them under a florescent light. I always make sure that the inside jacket is turned so they don't come out. Handle them by edges and label only. Even when I was a kid I handled them that way. They still have original poster with them. They're worth a lot of money. I'd like to sell them but I want them to go to a nice home. I have the first pressing when the albums 1st came out. I've seen Black Sabbath go for more than 300.00 in the show Pawn Shop show in Vegas.

Not only is the songwriting as good as ever, but it seems like his voice hasn't changed much at all either, there's a slight rasp that wasn't there before and the lower notes are more gravely than he used to be but it actually sounds pretty cool, not like his voice is strained or shot like some artists when they get old. Glad this dude is still around and putting out good music. I was born just in time to see a lot of my favorite artists die off so I cherish the ones we have left.

You're right! Billy's voice sounds very rich and resonant. In fact, it sounds better now than when I'd first heard him many years ago with "White Wedding!" There is something about this that reminds me of Nick Cave, a little "goth," but also very rootsy :)

I was a passenger on the back of a road bike in 90 and forced into the oncoming traffic leaving deer Creek reservoir just east of salt Lake City. One of my best friends driving "Dennis W Nash miss you my brother "did not survive the accident. It really seems the coolest of the cool ,the people I look up to ,the people I want to hang out with .those that I don't want to go,go too soon. Perhaps that's just perspective I don't know but I'm 52 years old now and I sure do get lonely for the old days sometimes.. I'd like to think I've learned some valuable lessons along the way and I have the hard way of course. I have more than just hope I have faith that I will see my friend again someday sometime somewhere as well as my family and you're a grateful for my limited knowledge and Christianity. I do believe Jesus Christ is my savior .I do believe he died for my sins and I do believe he came back that we may all be forgiven. It's in this belief that I have faith to see my friends and family again and to be with them forever. No matter how alone or lost I feel I know that God likes me and for that I am truly grateful.
It seems when I watch the news it's very easy to develop a negative perspective. Sometimes I have to remind myself that the news feeds on the negative energy and that's what drives the madness. When I stop take a deep breath look around me and think about it from a real perspective there's still a lot of beautiful in the world a lot of good and a lot of cool. I'm going to try and focus on those parts and leave the rest alone. Nobody ever got ahead one a war or became successful by worrying themselves into it. What will be will be and things out of my control are things I try not to worry about. Not to the point of ignorance for many of these things good potentially change my life as well as yours and everyone else but that hasn't happened yet. So I choose to live into here and now I'm going to try harder to turn off the negative because life really is all about perspective in my opinion.
Anyway I hope anyone that reads this has a great day know that someone somewhere has it better than you and always will have someone somewhere has it worse than you and they can change that so can you so can I.
I tried to edit this ramble but kept having to start over so I'm just going to leave it alone. Please forgive me. It's late for me and I'm tired and running short on patience. 😁
      Thanks,
      Just Brock😎😎
