I’m convinced that Daniel Garcia has compromising pictures of Tony Khan and Orange Cassidy reaching into each other’s pockets after hours. That’s the only logical explanation for why he gets so much screen time.

imo its one of the worst uses of talent in wrestling history. For the money he is paid / the name value he is worth, it's horrendous. There's lots of people that were underused or not given a chance, but Danielson is an established star, bigger than everyone they have bar maybe Punk.
Daniel Garcia can wrestle (do spots and moves), but I'm not sure if he can WORK (ring psychology, telling a story, etc.) He looks uncomfortable walking down the aisle, he looks unsure of himself, his promos seem forced, he's just not someone that should've went over Bryan. Someone else could've used that win way more than DG, like Hobbs.

15:17 To answer Brian's question, Tony Khan believes that "if I do X, I'll get Y." He thinks that if I want Daniel Garcia to get over, I have him beat a bigger star and then he'll be over. Wrestling booking isn't a formula though. You can't just do that equation with everyone and expect it to work. Yeah, Tony did X, but Y wasn't the answer. He does that with everything else he books too. "I've got a new guy and I want to get him over, but I have 689 wrestlers on the show already, I'll stick them in a stable, and just because they're on screen for a few seconds, they'll get over because they're on TV." He books wrestling like he's playing one of the fantasy wrestling simulator games.
To be fair, those also sound like Danielson's thoughts. He's wanted exciting real wrestling matches and more opportunities to give new guys main event shots. And if you throw in the possibility that Jericho could've had a hand in putting this match together then it's already a clusterfuck of conflicting ideas before Tony even walks in the room. But I'm just happy this crap happened on forgettable weekly tv instead of something I paid for
After seeing the finish I start to believe Tony Khan did something kinky or illegal and Daniel Garcia has proof hidden somewhere. Garcia is a good wrestler and his match against Bryan was great, but his main event push is ridiculous.
I think Tony pulled a Cartman. He took a picture of himself with Garcia's dick in his mouth thinking it was a practical joke on Garcia when Tony is the one who looks gay. Garcia still has the pic and is blackmailing him with it.
The strangest thing about this is he has people who have gotten themselves over who he buries. John Silver is wildly popular (like him or hate him) but can't buy a television win in years. Hook was WILDLY popular and instead of making him a weekly feature on Rampage, he turned him largely into a vignette dude who eats chips and doesn't talk. Kris Statlander is wildly popular and is almost never in an actual match on television. And before you bash Silver, yes he is small, but he still got himself over with the fans (you could do a 123 kid thing with him for sure). Then you have actual stars like Miro who is literally NEVER on television.
Yeah I agree I totally like John silver I didn't like him at 1st but he has worn on me and I feel like they should give him a push. I feel like Kris had her chance too but she got sick I believe with covid or the flu and then she got an injury to her knee and she was out for a min. so they passed her up and then give the belt to thunder Rosa of all people who always looks like she's about to botch every move she does.
I'm a casual fan, and when I saw Tony Nese in Worcester, I thought, "YO I remember this dude back from 205! This guy kicks ASS, this is gonna be FUN!" Then, they stuck him in that fucking awful match where he was the least charismatic heel in the universe, or the... I COULDN'T EVEN TELL WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BOOED OR CHEERED. I was PISSED! The room was five times quieter in person than on TV, it got NO response.
I’ve been saying this for the longest. He was smart and he saw it coming. His brother decided to stay since his in ring career isn’t going anywhere anymore but he can still mentor the women. AEW has been terrible and the focus has shifted to showcasing Jericho more and more who has gone to shit also. Once he goes, and the bucks and Omega get humbled they should be ok.
It's funny, I remember people saying WWE misued Daniel Bryan when he returned when in actuality, he was almost always the only guy who was used effectively in the entire roster, now look at him, AEW have completely wasted our f*cking time with Danielson, he should've been the top heel world champion right now.
He main evented Wrestlemania Twice with that size under Vince McMahon. That's huge. I don't know why he left WWE, he could have put over young talents there if that's what he wanted to do.

I was so excited when Jay Lethal debuted in AEW. But boy did Tony Kahn drop the ball with him. It took 2 losses on Dynamite and then we didn't see him for months. When he reappears, he's stuck with that giant goof and Sonjay Dutt. He was pure gold in old ROH. What a misuse of a great talent.

I know it’s pro wrestling, but I’ve been in leg holds before when grappling, and there’s no way you’d ever pass out from the pain. You’d rip your damn leg to pieces, but it’s not gonna make you faint. When they did it with Austin, he was bleeding so badly you could buy it. This was just stupid. Especially given how bad the submission looked.

Aew sold a bag of highly paid goods to Danielson with the promise of doing pro wrestling. Instead he has constantly been beat. Put into nonsensical feuds and a stable. Now is getting injured in garbage matches. He has to be having buyers regret. He would of been better off staying with WWE
I remember watching Brandon Cutler, I believe it was on Twitch, a couple months after he returned from his orbital bone injury. He was hurt while playing his Dungeons and Dragons character. One Being the Elite, the Bucks told him, (paraphrase) "Hey, you're gonna be our water boy, or you might be out of a job." So, he became the cold spray guy. On Twitch, someone asked him when we could expect him to return to his original character. And, his response was, (paraphrasing again) "I love this opportunity. If this is what gets the job done, then I can see myself seeing this thing through, being the Bucks' water boy forever." Really? I know you grew up with these guys, and you would love to work with them forever, since they're your friends. But, really? You went through all these hoops and spent all that time in the gym to not be a wrestler? Why be in showbiz and not aim higher? He can't possibly believe that the Bucks were watching his Twitch stream. He could have easily said, "We'll just have to wait and see." That would have been politically correct and left people on the hook. Heck, just last week, he came out and had the "villain who ties ladies to train tracks" voice. Where the heck did that voice come from? Who forced him to do that? is he that afraid for his job? I think that's how most of these guys are. No one will stand up to anyone and say, "I'm not really buying that for my character. How about this instead?" And, if the answer's no, then so be it. This roster is so swollen and the leadership is so biased that people just have to accept what they're given. AEW used to be heralded as the company that listens to your input about your character development. I'm not saying that the Dragon Master character was amazing or anything. But, Cutler's been healed for ages and the Elite has been busted up forever. Cut him back to the mid or lower card and let him work or something. At least he can develop into something. And, I mean that for all their talent. I'm just using Brandon as 1 example. He'd be more over if he was jobbing with The Wingmen (which I love The Wingmen.)
Jobbers, which make up a good portion of this roster, are given whole segments and 10+ min matches consistently, and against recognizable names at that. Yet, the only time we see Hobbs and Starks is to job to the head jobber, aka Tony’s most prized action figure, or to now turn on each other.
They waste Bryan Danielson's return by announcing it at Comic-Con, then confirming it at the ROH PPV instead of keeping it a surprise. Which could have given them a massive rating boost. On top of that, it's the charisma vacuum and rating poison that is Daniel Garcia. Bryan Danielson went from being the best heel in AEW, giving Omega and Hangman the best matches they've had to be a part of a faction that is fed to Jericho and his bloated ego. Danielson got hurt in the said feud and had to miss "Forbidden Door." One of the reasons he can to AEW is to face New Japan talent. On top of that, you have Danielson carry Garcia for 20 mins only to lose his first match back. I get wanting to book new stars but Garcia is on TV every night, he's a flunky of Jericho and will never be any more. Also, why is Danielson the only one building up new stars, when are Omega, The Bucks, Moxley or Jericho going to put over a young new star? This is just pure dumbass booking.

HBK collapse with Owen Hart enziguri was a good spot that played well. It wasnt about the marines it was supposed to be because of Owen's enziguri. WWF never really went into a lot of details themselves about the supposed assault on HBK.
It was DEFINITELY about the Marines…. It was his first match since the report came out, which was in the NY DAILY NEWS and he had to relinquish the IC title … he was still selling the real life attack, the Enziguri was like a killshot

It’s a slight miracle BD is as over as he is, because he does not seem to have that same instinct for people he wants to work with. Erick Rowan and Drew Gulak in tag teams, Ricochet during a Royal Rumble, and now Daniel Garcia - all folks who could roll straight sixes and not have one point of charisma to share in the lot of them.
I understand the criticism of TK and AEW. But a lot of the criticism has to land on Danielson too. He left a company he was in the Main event on the biggest show for this time of booking. He said he wanted to bleed and do foolishness. So a lot of this is Danielson’s fault.

A year ago, Daniel Bryan Danielson was debuting in AEW after having just been in a main event program in the WWE and was one of the top guys in the industry. Now, he's returning from injury to randomly lose to a guy who is, what, 6th place in his faction? Jericho is the big name obviously, Hager is his permanent right hand man it seems, Sammy Guevara is supposed to be a big deal, being attached to Sammy means Tay Conti is more important, they just turned Anna Jay heel to join up so she's currently ahead of him...Daniel Garcia is at best ahead of the tag team dudes and even that is debatable. He's not just a henchman, he's a really low ranking and irrelevant one! Makes no sense to do this with a guy who has no build up or credibility, it doesn't even put heat on him, it puts all the heat on Jake Hager for making Danielson lose to such a scrub. And Hager is not a dude that needs any sort of heat, he's Jericho's bodyguard, he'll always be credible in that role and never be credible for any other role.

Last I remember hearing, Jericho is the producer of DSOTR so as long as he's on good terms with Khan/still employed by AEW, I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.
Match felt weird because Garcia and everyone else acted like something was wrong after DDTing him onto fucking concrete instead of going in for the kill. Even JR mentioned how much time Danielson was getting to recover. I wanted Garcia to end it 30 seconds after that DDT by shoving him into the ring and pinning him.
If the other matches where guys got hurt is any indication it seems like either most of these guys dont know how to think on their feet and just have to "get their shit in" or Tony has some order that you continue no matter what to the planned finish.
Joe Greene Nah Angle definitely did his damn thing in TNA and was more entertaining, raw and uncut as a character than he was in WWE I don't know wtf u were watching.

This isn’t hard, have bryan danielson turn on BCC… fight moxley, challenge for the title and win it. Switch him back to his pre-BCC persona as the cocky heel, and then setup the title unification with babyface returning Punk, which is probably the biggest starpower match they can do. Stick the JAS on rampage if you must.
That would be perfect. But we'll see what happens. By the time Punk returns all of their other main event talent should be back as well. So we'll see how all of that fixes in but to be you're right on point. Punk vs Bryan is the biggest match this company could possibly offer. Especially now that the Omega title run ran through the entire roster.
Aew should stop pushing guys like yuta, garcia, jungle boy , hangman Or sammy. They should focus on ricky, mjf, wardlow, miro. They have much better promos, charisma, storytelling ability & persona. Any wrestling fan with brain cells can tell that yuta is one of the worst ever on the mic.

Once their audience finds more enjoyment in the aforementioned four guys than them, their friends, and the people they don’t find threatening, then the jig would be up. So why feature people they can’t compete with on an entertainment scale as opposed to people similar to them, who they can paint themselves as “better than”.
It reminds me when WCW tried to put over Shawn Stasiak and Chuck Columbo as main event stars when at best they were just "guys" who should be in the lower mid cards (at best).

Thank you! I never watched ROH before Danielson came to WWE, then I saw his move-set, up to and including his finisher, and said,”That looks familiar. Are we noticing a pattern? No? Welp.” Once he became mayor of Concussion City, I thought, “Ok, we’ve seen before. If this keeps going in a similar fashion...😐” My belief is that, simply due to people liking him and enjoying his wrestling, they don’t assume that Bryan will end up like Benoit. PS WWE was right to have him retire. Tony will wait until either Bryan voluntarily retires or the concussion protocol does him in first.

For the most part I kinda agree with what you're saying, but then again I can see BD telling Khan he wants to put over DG. DG has alot of potential and I can see why they'd want him to go over (especially because of his match at the DBD ppv. They have smoke with the BCC, BD just got back from a injury which made the whole "concussion" angle seem kinda plausible, and it would be a shock. On the other hand, DG isn't even a midcarder and he lost his last match against a "rookie" in the BCC who's getting mentored by the person DG is going to beat in his next match. He didn't even pin him, BD passed out? The finish was awful. Plus you can see BD hand the ref his blade on the ground. The ref tries to hide it under his foot on the floor but then he swipes it ON CAMERA under the floor mat 🤦🏿♂️. Someone else really needed that win because DG has a long way to go until he's over. He's still learning himself (as far as character work).
I doubt he had anything to do with it other than not having enough sense to say no. With the way things have regressed in two months, it kinda seems like Punk must've been the only one protecting certain guys from Tony's bad ideas.

I don't think Garcia is a Jobber. He is mismanaged and seem to put in a idea you don't need to work right. Jericho is feeding these guys a façade knowing he can't work anymore. Most of the vets are harming the business in AEW.
Bronn Breaker vs Daniel Bryan would have been a banger to make Bronn learn, just a trilogy of Bronn losing everytime because of his inexperience and Bryan is just a master type of story, then a few years later, call it back with Bronn finally beating Bryan as he finally learns etc

I have known a few people who believe it was legit. In fact, most of them don't believe it when someone says it was a work because they believe saying it was a work is a cover up. They think in reality that he passed out because of some drug overdose . In other, other words they thought him passing out was legit but the reason given was a work.
The moment some of the stars went down with injuries, AEW booking went to completely shit. They have no idea what they are doing right now with this massive roster they have. But they better get their shit together fast because HHH taking over creative is going to put AEW out of business I think. If all HHH does it make the main WWE products feel like Black & Gold era of NXT, they will start to pull the AEW fanbase away.

@@thesupervisor3270 It was before I was born, but did watch it on dad's old VHS he taped off TV. Think I was 3 or 4 when I started watching the wrestling shows. Mostly remember, I was a fan of monster movies when I was a little girl, so really liked that Undertaker character, because he seemed like a real life version of the monster movies.
I thought it was real, but I was 12. But even if I was older, I wouldn't have been privy to things like "works or shoots." Looking back, I would've thought, why are they still running the cameras and switching angles, if this was legit? But I still would be unsure.

Jim Cornette needs to understand something: Bryan Danielson WANTS TO DO THIS STUFF. He has creative freedom in AEW. He has been putting lesser talent over since his last run in WWE. He has been selling his concussion off the Missle Dropkick since his last WWE run as well. I’ve personally seen, and it’s on camera on UA-cam, Danielson stop a match when the ref botched the win for him, he counted the 3 and the match wasn’t done, so Danielson got on the mic and said “do you guys wanna see the stuff we had planned to do? If you guys want it we will keep going..” And then they restarted the match, they did their planned finish and the match ended with Bryan winning anyways. Jim needs to understand this, Bryan is JUST LIKE ALL THESE OTHER GUYS. He’s my favourite wrestler, Jim just has a false perception and no actual knowledge on who Danielson is.
Boy oh boy, I can’t wait for that humongous Wheeler Yuta vs Daniel Garcia match for the RoH Pure championship on AEW! The build up is tremendous so far! This, this is what pro wrestling is all about?! Two 135lb guys with zero muscle tone, with Regal to talk for one while Jericho and the big headed jobber talk for the other! Eventually they’ll go 45 mins in the ring, complete with gratuitous blade jobs, 2 false finishes, 3 separate run ins, a special guest on commentary, and an arena full of people who couldn’t care less, but really like to chant things!

I've been waiting for this since it went down. I was watching AEW with a group online, and many of them were gushing over Garcia winning. I thought it was shit, and it focuses on what I've been saying for months upon months. T.K. needs to get a competent booker, I don't care what Bryan Alvarez says.

The strangest thing about this is he has people who have gotten themselves over who he buries. John Silver is wildly popular (like him or hate him) but can't buy a television win in years. Hook was WILDLY popular and instead of making him a weekly feature on Rampage, he turned him largely into a vignette dude who eats chips and doesn't talk. Kris Statlander is wildly popular and is almost never in an actual match on television. And before you bash Silver, yes he is small, but he still got himself over with the fans (you could do a 123 kid thing with him for sure). Then you have actual stars like Miro who is literally NEVER on television.
Yeah I agree I totally like John silver I didn't like him at 1st but he has worn on me and I feel like they should give him a push. I feel like Kris had her chance too but she got sick I believe with covid or the flu and then she got an injury to her knee and she was out for a min. so they passed her up and then give the belt to thunder Rosa of all people who always looks like she's about to botch every move she does.

I remember watching Brandon Cutler, I believe it was on Twitch, a couple months after he returned from his orbital bone injury. He was hurt while playing his Dungeons and Dragons character. One Being the Elite, the Bucks told him, (paraphrase) "Hey, you're gonna be our water boy, or you might be out of a job." So, he became the cold spray guy. On Twitch, someone asked him when we could expect him to return to his original character. And, his response was, (paraphrasing again) "I love this opportunity. If this is what gets the job done, then I can see myself seeing this thing through, being the Bucks' water boy forever." Really? I know you grew up with these guys, and you would love to work with them forever, since they're your friends. But, really? You went through all these hoops and spent all that time in the gym to not be a wrestler? Why be in showbiz and not aim higher? He can't possibly believe that the Bucks were watching his Twitch stream. He could have easily said, "We'll just have to wait and see." That would have been politically correct and left people on the hook. Heck, just last week, he came out and had the "villain who ties ladies to train tracks" voice. Where the heck did that voice come from? Who forced him to do that? is he that afraid for his job? I think that's how most of these guys are. No one will stand up to anyone and say, "I'm not really buying that for my character. How about this instead?" And, if the answer's no, then so be it. This roster is so swollen and the leadership is so biased that people just have to accept what they're given. AEW used to be heralded as the company that listens to your input about your character development. I'm not saying that the Dragon Master character was amazing or anything. But, Cutler's been healed for ages and the Elite has been busted up forever. Cut him back to the mid or lower card and let him work or something. At least he can develop into something. And, I mean that for all their talent. I'm just using Brandon as 1 example. He'd be more over if he was jobbing with The Wingmen (which I love The Wingmen.)

On top of that, it's the charisma vacuum and rating poison that is Daniel Garcia. Bryan Danielson went from being the best heel in AEW, giving Omega and Hangman the best matches they've had to be a part of a faction that is fed to Jericho and his bloated ego. Danielson got hurt in the said feud and had to miss "Forbidden Door." One of the reasons he can to AEW is to face New Japan talent. On top of that, you have Danielson carry Garcia for 20 mins only to lose his first match back. I get wanting to book new stars but Garcia is on TV every night, he's a flunky of Jericho and will never be any more. Also, why is Danielson the only one building up new stars, when are Omega, The Bucks, Moxley or Jericho going to put over a young new star? This is just pure dumbass booking.

It’s a slight miracle BD is as over as he is, because he does not seem to have that same instinct for people he wants to work with. He's not just a henchman, he's a really low ranking and irrelevant one! Makes no sense to do this with a guy who has no build up or credibility, it doesn't even put heat on him, it puts all the heat on Jake Hager for making Danielson lose to such a scrub. And Hager is not a dude that needs any sort of heat, he's Jericho's bodyguard, he'll always be credible in that role and never be credible for any other role.

Match felt weird because Garcia and everyone else acted like something was wrong after DDTing him onto fucking concrete instead of going in for the kill. Even JR mentioned how much time Danielson was getting to recover. I wanted Garcia to end it 30 seconds after that DDT by shoving him into the ring and pinning him.
If the other matches where guys got hurt is any indication it seems like either most of these guys dont know how to think on their feet and just have to "get their shit in" or Tony has some order that you continue no matter what to the planned finish.
They should have just ended the match then, then maybe Garcia would have some heat.

This isn’t hard, have bryan danielson turn on BCC… fight moxley, challenge for the title and win it. Switch him back to his pre-BCC persona as the cocky heel, and then setup the title unification with babyface returning Punk, which is probably the biggest starpower match they can do. Stick the JAS on rampage if you must.
That would be perfect. But we'll see what happens. By the time Punk returns all of their other main event talent should be back as well. So we'll see how all of that fixes in but to be you're right on point. Punk vs Bryan is the biggest match this company could possibly offer. Especially now that the Omega title run ran through the entire roster.
This is why the narrative of "pushing young talent" is great to strive for but not always practical to implement.
Aew should stop pushing guys like yuta, garcia, jungle boy , hangman Or sammy. They should focus on ricky, mjf, wardlow, miro. They have much better promos, charisma, storytelling ability & persona. Any wrestling fan with brain cells can tell that yuta is one of the worst ever on the mic.
Guys with personality are a novelty but not to be featured in that company. They think work rate makes money, it does in small doses but not arenas.

Once their audience finds more enjoyment in the aforementioned four guys than them, their friends, and the people they don’t find threatening, then the jig would be up. So why feature people they can’t compete with on an entertainment scale as opposed to people similar to them, who they can paint themselves as “better than”.
It reminds me when WCW tried to put over Shawn Stasiak and Chuck Columbo as main event stars when at best they were just "guys" who should be in the lower mid cards (at best).

Thank you! I never watched ROH before Danielson came to WWE, then I saw his move-set, up to and including his finisher, and said,”That looks familiar. Are we noticing a pattern? No? Welp.” Once he became mayor of Concussion City, I thought, “Ok, we’ve seen before. If this keeps going in a similar fashion...😐” My belief is that, simply due to people liking him and enjoying his wrestling, they don’t assume that Bryan will end up like Benoit.
PS WWE was right to have him retire. Tony will wait until either Bryan voluntarily retires or the concussion protocol does him in first.

For the most part I kinda agree with what you're saying, but then again I can see BD telling Khan he wants to put over DG. DG has alot of potential and I can see why they'd want him to go over (especially because of his match at the DBD ppv. They have smoke with the BCC, BD just got back from a injury which made the whole "concussion" angle seem kinda plausible, and it would be a shock. On the other hand, DG isn't even a midcarder and he lost his last match against a "rookie" in the BCC who's getting mentored by the person DG is going to beat in his next match. He didn't even pin him, BD passed out? The finish was awful. Plus you can see BD hand the ref his blade on the ground. The ref tries to hide it under his foot on the floor but then he swipes it ON CAMERA under the floor mat 🤦🏿♂️. Someone else really needed that win because DG has a long way to go until he's over. He's still learning himself (as far as character work).
I doubt he had anything to do with it other than not having enough sense to say no.

I have known a few people who believe it was legit. In fact, most of them don't believe it when someone says it was a work because they believe saying it was a work is a cover up. They think in reality that he passed out because of some drug overdose . In other, other words they thought him passing out was legit but the reason given was a work.
His fight with Hogan will always be a classic master class on how wrestlers should sell.
The moment some of the stars went down with injuries, AEW booking went to completely shit. They have no idea what they are doing right now with this massive roster they have. Mostly remember, I was a fan of monster movies when I was a little girl, so really liked that Undertaker character, because he seemed like a real life version of the monster movies.
I thought it was real, but I was 12. But even if I was older, I wouldn't have been privy to things like "works or shoots." Looking back, I would've thought, why are they still running the cameras and switching angles, if this was legit? But I still would be unsure.

Before listening to Corny, I went and watched the match and I don’t know what I watched. The match was just ridiculous, like it felt like a burial of Bryan Danielson.

Jim Cornette needs to understand something: Bryan Danielson WANTS TO DO THIS STUFF. He has creative freedom in AEW. He has been putting lesser talent over since his last run in WWE. He has been selling his concussion off the Missle Dropkick since his last WWE run as well.
I’ve personally seen, and it’s on camera on UA-cam, Danielson stop a match when the ref botched the win for him, he counted the 3 and the match wasn’t done, so Danielson got on the mic and said “do you guys wanna see the stuff we had planned to do? If you guys want it we will keep going..”
And then they restarted the match, they did their planned finish and the match ended with Bryan winning anyways.
Jim needs to understand this, Bryan is JUST LIKE ALL THESE OTHER GUYS.
