  • David Cannadine in conversation with Maya Jasanoff
    Presented by Hindustan Times
David Cannadine, professor of history at Princeton, argues that in its heyday -- from the 1850s to the 1950s -- the British Empire was based on a conscious effort to export a model of class hierarchy and status out to overseas possessions and that, contrary to the ideas of Edward Said, class, rank and status were more important to the British Empire than race. He will be in conversation with Harvard history professor, Maya Jasanoff.
