    Hi Dennis, I have a 2004 VW beetle I just picked up. It's a 1.8 turbo.engine seems to run great. Just started really driving it and the transmission when putting it in drive is clanky sometimes .also sometimes when coming to a stop, downshifting to 1st is a little jerky. I'm adding transmission fluid tomorrow. It sat up for awhile before I got it. Has 83000 miles on it. Do you think just sitting up and needing fluid would cause that to happen or is it another issue? Also if I needed help do you work on these ? I'm in South Carolina and don't mind bringing it to someone who knows what they are doing.thanks for the video and help

      Tried putting in fluid first if that doesn't help try the valve body and the final last thing is just a bad transmission I don't usually have time to work on vehicles Right now I'm working on a real big project building wise

    You mention 2003 tdi, same work. It's no longer on your page???? I'm having the same issues with my 2005 golf tdi. At 1st it use to have a hard time changing from 2 to 3 on a cold start. Had to warm up the car for about 15mins then all will be good. Check engine will good off after I let it warm up before taking off and would run for about 20+ miles. Recently, even warmed up on a stop light or going up some rough hills it does the same . Went to some local shop that specialize in vw and they're charging me about $1,300- $1,400 to fix the Solenoids

    Hello 👋 I hope you can answer me, I have a VW beetle 2003 convertible, and I think I’m having problem with the transmission, he runs fine but once I stop fast when he starts shifting down it shifts hard and I’m scared that could break or something, is it the transmission or something else?

    • @idennis75
      @idennis75  2 роки тому +1

      Sounds like the solenoid is getting stuck for whatever reason and that case the valve body would probably be the best choice

    Does this work on a 2.5 automatic vw new beetle SE 08 (convertible 2-door)(I’m not sure how specific I had to get) 6 speed transmission(does the transmission code matter? Cause idk how to find it and quite frankly I have no one who is willing to help me find it, besides my asshole uncles that want $800 from for labor and in top of that they want to pop in a new(used) vw transmission without having the code(does it have to be specific) I believe I can do this myself but they dont want to let me borrow the tools I need and then get mad at me for not learning why? Because if I don’t learn then they can continue charging me to do it for me, I need this learning experience

      It sounds like it is the valve body if it's not the valve body that you might be low on fluid which is rare unless you have a leak so you could try changing out the transmission filter and fluids and see if that fixes your problem if not then might be the valve body or the worst thing is the clutches inside the transmission even though it's automatic it's still uses clutches on that one

    • @idennis75
      @idennis75  4 роки тому +1

      The first answer to the question is you usually change out the complete valve body it's cheaper and faster The valve body should run about $120 but if it's the DSG transmission just changing out the solenoid is fine and that should run around $350 and about $40 in the oil the second answer is you will be doing damage to the transmission because it's running hotter but if you're driving short distances and keep it below the red line it shouldn't be that bad

    I have a 2006 Beetle that shifts good once you get past the first 3 gears. At a stop light when you take off the engine seems to race before it grabs the gear. I can put the gear shift in "S" and it seems to do better. It doesn't do it all the time mostly driving in town. Do you think this process would fix my issue? • @idennis75
      @idennis75  4 роки тому +3

      Yes two things that can cause shifting problem it's low fluid or the valve body if you have low fluid for too long then it can burn the transmission up but 98% of time it's the valve body unless you had a real bad leak on the transmission

  • @fishwanda

    One more question. I've read that it's not good to flush transmission. I'm really worried about having to replace transmission up the road. Not something I can afford. Will this cause problems with transmission?

    • @idennis75
      @idennis75  5 років тому +2

      That's not being a pain and in the old cars they would say don't flush the transmission fluid but on the newer cars it's a must they use synthetic oil now so you have to do it but it doesn't do any harm to the transmission it actually helps it and you'll be able to feel it when you start to drive and it won't affect the transmission The transmission will last a lot longer
