The peak of Opeth. I love every song on this album. That said, the last track is probably the weakest in this album, BUT it has a killer gem in it. One of my absolute favourite Opeth moments: 51:00 - 53:10. Eargasmic

This is the first Opeth album I listened. I've listened the rest of their discography, and Deliverence is the best album they released by far (I'd say 'Deliverence' is the peak of Opeth with no doubt), but not the best they composed. They can make better songs (the songs 'The lotus eater' or 'The baying of the hounds' are enough proof), and this album could have been the start of something completely different and innovative, but they chose another path. Although I don't have any personal problem with that, I'll always wonder how the albums would sound if they decided to stick with Deliverence's style.

I can tolerate some, the guy has an amazing voice I wouldnt mind getting the albums that have a good mixture of his "clean" and death metal vocals.
Ghost Reveries has the best mix of clean and growling vocals. Heritage, Damnation, and Pale Communion all have clean vocals exclusively. But they're not as heavy.
I'm with you on growling vocals, but I find these more bearable than other extreme bands.
I am not fan of Growls too but i think the music in the Album is great and the sound is really good !!!
I bought first Orchid and then Blackwater Park. Then I acquired Damnation and then Deliverance. Finally I got Ghost Reveries, but not because it's a bad album. Opeth has no bad albums.
The first album i got was Blackwater Park. That and Ghost Reveries are probably the best starting point for a mix of heavy and acoustic parts
At the very end of the final few seconds of the album, do i hear one of the verses from master's apprentices played in reverse?
Yes you do.
You do if you are high on jaggermeister
