- instructions. every word typed into stereo is fully capitalized.
(space bar) (space bar) "SERVICE" (space bar) "PASS" (space bar) "OFF"(space bar)
after that press down on the very top left corner of the screen right before it says "password" and hold. this could take 5 to 20 sec so wait until you get a message on the screen witch Should say something like "unit has ben unlocked"

Thank you very much for in-depth explanation, after almost going one year with my stereo locked and not having the time to take it out and have it fixed, finally I was able to get it unlocked following these instructions, I had to do it a few times but managed to make it work. I had the same problem when I changed the battery. It asked for a password ( from the previous owner). It worked like a charm !!!! Just don't forget the space at the end. That's what I did. FANTASTIC!! Thanks for the video!!

This worked :D thank you so much! A tip we did was after entering the password and holding the corner, we used the bottom corner of a lighter to hold the screen. Try to use something as a stylus. The screen reset after less than 5 seconds!

IT WORKED! I applied this for my AVIC 6200 and to my surprise IT WORKED! I had to exercise a bit of patience and input two or three times, but IT WORKED! Follow instructions to the letter...the CAPITAL LETTER!

Man bud, many thanks for posting it worked!! My battery went dead and I forgot I had my password on my "old" cell phone which is gone. My advice is make sure you add that last space after off and no comas between words, no " around words just simply space space SERVICE space PASS space OFF space. The hold in the upper left and it worked. I was so frustrated with the idea of having to take out my stereo and sending back to Pioneer. Cost around $80 plus shipping! Thats if you can remove and install yourself!

THIS REALLY WORKS!!! password screen came up on my 2013 BRZ I bought 2 weeks ago after I unplugged the battery to clean it off and do some repairs! The old owner didnt know the password and I was worried because when I searched through forums they said id need to take it to a dealer and they take out the head unit then ship it to pioneer or something but this worked first try and im super happy about it :D Thank you so much you saved me so much time and money!!!!

My 20 year old daughter (who is still more like a teenager) was practically crying because her Pioneer unit wouldn't work after the car had been worked on. You really saved the day. I am 76 so she thinks I am not with it when it comes to this stuff. Every place a called said the unit had to be sent to the factory. Thanks again.

I just tried it on my avh-w4500nex and it worked. I had called pioneer and they gave me the same bypass code but i was doing it wrong. You have to literally press down right in front of the P by Password. Thanks for the clarification.

My avic-x930bt is asking for password when I trying to upgrade software (won't connect Bluetooth I currently have 3.0). Purchased upgrade 2017 software on eBay and second SD card is asking for pin although it starts up without asking. This does not work as it does not allow enough characters in password spot

Helped me unlock my avh4000nex.
I bought this at a pawnshop for 200 bout 6months ago , to findout it was locked & they told me that there was no returns after the 1st 24hours on electronics & prettymuch was out of luck and was stuck with contacting pioneer & getting Raped for the shipping to Ny / paying to unlock / if it was possible & not to mention any damage being shipped around or stolen.
