Tunnel was the 1st club I went to. It was on a thursday in the spring of 89 and I had recently turned 18. They didn't even check for id. I was like, "HO YES!" I felt like a king. When I walked in and saw the mirror on the back wall, I thought the club was fuckin huge...til I realized it was a mirror 😂 My friends and I went to the limelight, saw that it was a church(that really bothered me), the super colossal hot tub outside with the smoke and the lights and the drag queens and we got scared 😂😂 we passed on it. We went to the underground and ended up running back to Penn Station in the summer heat sweatin like retards only to miss the last train back to long island til the next morning. Soul to Soul was performing at the Paladium and they was shutting down the iron gates cause the crowd outside was too crazy and we literally dived and rolled under the gates like an action movie to get inside. We was all over the floor like stunt doubles...we didn't care😂 We got kicked out of Webster Hall for fighting some instigating drag queens that were like 6'9 and pushy. I got stories for days about Manhattan clubs of the late 80s early 90s. It was a trip! #memories

Current folk don't believe this, but I was a 15/16 yr old clubbing at studio 54, red zone, the underground, thetunnel, mars etc. We have been spoiled. This stopped in the 90's. No way they would let a 15 yr old in a club anymore.

My brother was a DJ at Silver Shadow then Melons. I got in to a lot of places, including 54.
nejolo matrilo // Obviously, people who weren't from NYC can't understand this. Back then original club kids made a place hip and happening because we came up with all the latest dances. We started trends in fashion (street wear) that later got copied by designers and sent round the world. We didn't have any money so we weren't there to buy alcohol or do drugs. They knew we were kids, but we were just there to dance so we got in. Nobody carded you. It was almost innocent in a way. I feel sorry for kids today.
How many dance battles to this classic jam! Flat tops, turtle necks, them dance shoes with the metal tips. Oh the glory days... I had wonderful times to this jam. Thanks for posting it.
