Great channel Debbie. Straight forward advice, no waffle or annoying background music. I have two pittosporum ruffles. They are just starting to bloom tiny purple flowers. They are very pretty and hardy.
Unfortunately, we have a large herd of deer on our property. They eat everything! Even plants that promise to be low on their menu! Great information and video! I’m a new subscriber.
Pittosporum tenuifolium is not noticeable fragrant. However, the Japanese mock orange, Pittosporum tobira, is very fragrant. I never noticed while growing up in the Seattle area, but when I was stationed in a more warm and humid location, the giant P.t. in the courtyard where I stayed, could make one swoon when it was in bloom!
I already had a spot picked out when you were showing the osmanthus. Unfortunately I'll have to plant it in some chest waders since that area will be WAY too wet for it.
Lovely evergreens. Wish I had more space for wider plants. Need a replacement for old (60 yrs) dying off azaleas in full sun in front of house. That is if I can actually dig a hole amongst many roots. Happy spring.
I have 4 Mexican Orange shrubs around my zone 8 yard. We had a freak cold snap in January, and it really beat them up. I hear they might recover, but at the moment (late March), they look horrible. If I have to pull them out, I won't replant with the same shrub.
The second plant you showed, it looks like what we call Apompo , or it looks very similar for the leaves, it does a produce a very big fruit or veg , I don’t know what that would be considered. But we never ate it , I really dont know if is eatable or not , it likes to grow by the creek and the blooms looks like those spring alliums in spring, in Burgundy colors .
The first one looks like a viburnum I believe is what it is called. It has the little clusters of white with a pink tinge and the same kind of leaves 🍃 oh my does it smell so sweet and amazing. They have them out n front of some of our stores and I got out of my truck and the whole parking lot smells amazing. So love your videos,
Sounds like you're talking about the Korean Spice viburnum. It's similar but has bigger leaves and a different shaped flower cluster. I have one and love it!
Here in my zone 7, I cannot plant anything marginal. They have to be for zones 6 & below others they won’t survive. I’ve killed many beautiful evergreen plants for zones 7.
What you don't know about. Places like Texas have gofers and moles who love the roots of these shrubs. When the shrubs decline and you pull them up, the roots are gone.
You are looking great Debbie! Happy Spring!
Love your videos. Can you please do a video on small trees for small garden?

Thank you Debbie. I would love to see more of your property. You backgrounds are always so lovely. I want that Curley pittosporum.
I love the pittosporum! Thank you for showing several shrubs.
Thanks Debbie! I always love hearing about evergreen shrubs. I love less maintenance, and I just think they are so underrated! Thanks again ❤
Thanks Debbie. 🪻💚🙃

Thank you Debbie. I’m a little sore today too. Happy gardening 💐
This channel is a nice little find ☺️🤓💕
I love shrubs and have a few Choisya; they propagate so easily. I'm going to look for an Osmanthus; they look great; love scented plants.

Exactly the info I needed as I plan my newly fenced back yard, as always very informative, love your channel.

Exactly what I needed today. I have a Mexican orange but mine doesnt look as good as yours.
Looking good Deb! How is your Mom? Native plants are best for ur pollinators. We need to protect our food chain.
I have 2 of the Mexican orange in my garden and I love them! The color is beautiful!
I like your choices.
Love them all 👌 great evergreen..thanks. Could they b controlled somewhat with trimming.. keep smaller longer?
Wish you told us what color bloo,s were thanks for the video!!

Can you show or give the stats on that pittosporum ruffles. I love the black stems and the lovely green grey foliage

It would be great if you couold tell us if any of the plants you feature are deer proof. I live in a heavy deer zone in the PNW
I have many of these shrubs
Maybe you can suggest shrubs for sunny areas. I have to replace a shrubs that died.
Does the osmanthus form seeds? Is this the next callery pear or butterfly bush that escapes into native woodlands?
No, it doesn't.
Of these four shrubs, which one is not liked by hungry deer?

I’m in zone 6. Any help with the same category for my area?
Yeah spring
I planted a Mexican orange right outside my living room window. 4 feet? Mine is closer to 8 feet…
👍

She's talking about the PNW
Nice but the nw in title fooled me.
You are in California. I do not think of that as northwest.
I am in Puget Sound area. Tacoma, WA
Nw is the northwest. I live in Gig Harbor.
She's in the PNW!!
