The rule of thumb I’ve always used is: the more seams and thus structure the garment has, the more shape it gives to your body. The fewer the seams a garment has, the more your body gives shape to the garment.
@@PeaceOfMake in general the higher the number of seams the more focus the garment gives to the shape of the wearer. And the reverse is true. So shapeless dresses tend to have less seams like the tunics, the robes etc. The seams give the body definition. Hence, certain cultures where modesty is important, they do not employ a lot of seams in their dressmaking but have other ways to beautify the dreas such as embroidery and beading. Having said this though, we have designers who put seams not to emphasise the shape of the woman’s body but to give it a more androgynous shape. Hence, seams are important to give the body shape. Where modesty is important, less seams are used to avoid giving away the shape of the wearer.
See I feel with my body type I always do better with the slouchy blazer and I don’t need to worry about how I move in it. I have strong shoulders, when I wear the more form fitting one I feel like a box and a stiff robot 😂 but the blazers that are loose on the hanger where perfect! I’m a soft natural body type so I think that has something to do with it 🤔
I prefer the hanger appeal but in spring/Sumer transition I like the cooler option. It’s easier to throw it with a linen dress and scrunch up the sleeves
Man, no one talking about that indigo shirt sitting flowless-ly on you? That is the timeless alpha piece here (to me)! And talking about structure, it fits pretty damn well. Where is it from ?
I would have liked the indigo shirt with the indigo blazer. (Of course a darker wash jean, but then you're taking it in a different direction altogether. 😉)
Carla, I have a great idea for a book: We need the Carla's fashion dictionary! I love all the "loosy gucy? Carla's adjectives, nouns, verbs, adverbs...
Love a fitted blazer, princess seams to highlight your shape. You can dress them up, dress them down; always look great. Carla, you could rock a burlap sack and make it chic and stylish. That is your superpower! 😂❤
This actually helped me a lot. I used to wear a lot of "oversize" clothes and lately I started disliking how I look in them, like it made me look slouchy and messy. Actually assumed it was because ive gained weight compared to before, but now it makes sense its my posture thats changed the most in the last few years, for the worse that is.
I lovvve the black blazer! ❤ The way i see it : With a wide pants/Dress or Skirt i wear a slimmer top/jacket.. With a wide top i wear a slimmer pants/skirt. Its all about Shape HONEY..SHaPe!! 😂❤ Eitherway..You look stunning darling as ALWAYS! Lots of love!
Is that shirt black or dark blue, because if it's blue...it's 😃AMAZING! I don't like blue except for a very very dark blue(the kind where you ask if it's blue or black); they are so hard to find. 😖
I have both kinds gor different iccasions. Because I already have square shoulders, the soft version does not appear "frumpy, as one person put it, and the structured one can make me look rather severe, almost military.
this is why I hate slouchy styles. having wide across the front thin shoulders and small chest I look like a walking hanger up top . I'll stick to structured coats and jackets thanks !
Structured blazers look good for all body types and slouchy ones don't. Also, with a slouchy blazer you need to sometimes balance it with a more form fitting bottom whereas with a structured blazer you can pair it with just about any bottom. Slouchy ones tends to make people feel more comfortable wearing them. The blue blazer is gorgeous 😍

i love this!!!!
Un-less you'r short and curvy, then it just makes you look like a box.
im not sure if this applies to everything.
@@kays3956 Where does it not?

I'm a guy who definitely prefers structure, but I can't deny that the unstructured blazer is giving 80's vibes and I'm all for that too.
Us big breasted, slouchy shoulder girls cannot handle the slouchy blazer. Glad to know it’s not just me! Love me a sharp blazer!
Both are fabulous ❤️
I'm thin with angular shoulders, I look like a walking hanger with the slouchy jackets and coats- they wear me ! tailored for the win !
@@CarlaRockmore1plz style for chubby girls, love your videos ❤

I'm a Soft Natural (Kibbe type), also. My shoulders, bust, and ribcage need room to BE.

Madame Rockmore🎉 I am so inspired by you! I own those jeans and YOU Madame Style Maven have given me TWO new ways to wear them ❤

Hi Miss Carla, I am a petite, love the structured blazer❤
I learn so much from you!! Thank you ❤ Anne from Cape Cod
The light blazer reminds me of James Spader in pretty in pink.
Nary ,black for me 😊
Architectural visual screams confidence ❤
Love that 🙌
Loving both! ❤❤❤
Your voice is nostalgic; reminds me of Ms. Frizzle from, The Magic School Bus. I love it!
Knowledge is Power, Yaaaas Carla!! ✌🏾🔥🔥

I don't do too many Miss Carla-- But I do, do denim! Those jeans are calling my name❤

Carla, you could rock a burlap sack and make it chic and stylish. That is your superpower! 😂❤
Lucy here, totally appreciate the Loosey Goosey aspect!
I love a structured blazer and gave a couple away when I lost 50 lbs. I will have to buy a few more.

Love those. Try it out xoxo
Love your jeans ❤
May I ask where did you get the navy shirt from, and the navy blazer both are🌼
Navy shirt is carlarockmore.com and the navy blazer is another tomorrow honey!! ❤️❤️❤️ xoxo
May I ask what size and length of the Sid's you are wearing?
I would love to know where your first button down is from, I love how it fits you!
It’s my own collection on carlarockmore.com 😍😍😍
Gorgeous
Finally something relatable 😅
Love that structured blazer. Been looking for one like that for a long time in plus size. Doesn’t exist. *heavy sigh*

Defenetly the Super Cool Side 😜🤣👍😘
XOXO
I say structured looks more flattering. Loosy goosey is almost sloppy
Jean Info plzzzzzz ❤
I will always love the second one. The first looks good only because of the person, not the style imo
I tend to wear flowy and boho slouchy styles as I am not only tall but athletic build.
Would you add bigger or smaller jewelry with a blazer?
I have both kinds gor different iccasions. Because I already have square shoulders, the soft version does not appear "frumpy, as one person put it, and the structured one can make me look rather severe, almost military.
You’re not saying it but I’m saying it I’d go with the structure blazer.
And if they follow you, then they'll be ahead of the game
Please watch the episode of Taskmaster where Sarah Millican sings about how a bralette is a bra without scaffolding 😂
Those jeans!!!
Fitted over frumpy blazer.
...butt the jeans! ❤
this is why I hate slouchy styles. having wide across the front thin shoulders and small chest I look like a walking hanger up top . I'll stick to structured coats and jackets thanks !
What is that structured blazer? I’ve been looking for exactly that for years!
from Another Tomorrow!! You need it 😍😍😍
Anyone find out about this fab jeans?!!
Светлое поинтереснее ❤

Truly ⭐️⭐️
"Soopurrr coowell!" 😎
😍
When someone hears me say 'hanger appeal', I get eye rolls. It's a wayore important aspect of design than people give credit for
how can we style an oversized blazer? a structured blazer looks better on me but feels too formal day to day
Dont think i can pull off the slouchy blazer look. Love structure in my jackets whther im wearing them casually or not.
😊
Structured blazers look good for all body types and slouchy ones don't. I just looked at your wiki page and am blown away by your age, Carla. You are so beautiful. What is your secret?
You have a 2 floor closet 😮
The frumpy style is difficult to wear because one can feel sloppy all around…
We say "Chin up and tits out ladies! Lets get it done!" At work All the time. It's become our work war cry. 😂
I have broad shoulders so I don’t like shoulder pads. I look like a football player.
First one 🥰
🥳
Another lesson in how to wear oversized clothing from someone who is petite enough to pull off oversized clothing.
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🪽
You have great style but those jeans are very odd looking imo.
Can we take a moment to talk about copy catting😮😮😮😢
It looks very sloppy and dated….sorry.
