Just ordered myself one of these as a treat. Absolutely adore Vintage, my Vintage V100 plays better than my Gibson LP studio, has a slimmer neck and stays in tune much better.
Vintage guitars sound awesome. I have compared my Gibson SG to my friend Vintage SG. The differences well there are some apart from head stock shape the tuning machines are smaller then the Gibson 10.6mm post hole vs 8mm on the Vintage. Also when you strum the vintage it doesn’t resonate as Much as a nitro coated satin finished SG. Also the Vintage SG had been modded wiring to Cover all the tones a la Jimmy Page which works very well. If I had to choose between the 2 it’s Gibson all the way for me but if I didn’t have much money then the Vintage is a excellent guitar.
I currently have a LP shaped Vintage, and in my opinion they are great. Ive had a few Gibson LP,’s and i personally think these are 99% there. So for a fraction of the price you get a really nice guitar. Nice unboxing Dave
@@theWARMJET Actually very good. Surprisingly good pickups. I had purchased some Iron Gear pickups to replace them with prior to the guitar arriving but I didn’t need to use them.
Funnily enough, I don't mind Epi headstocks on their semi hollows. But not on their LPs & SGs. Their still not as bad as Vintage and Harley Benton. Looks like someone took a dremel to it!
You can change how it sounds, you can change how it plays, you can even change how it feels but if it doesn't have "it", what ever "it" is for you, why bother? I hope it has your "it" Dave, Lol. I don't think people realize how a million little things can add up to a guitar just being not that fun or inspiring to play. Looking forward to seeing it transformed into one of the herd, or heard, either way works. Stay safe
Amigo podras ayudarme por favor, estoy buscando un sonido lo mas similar a la Gibson SG...nose si comprar la Epiphone SG 400 Pro o la Vintage SG V6. Gracias
I have one in vintage white/ivory. Picked it up for £115. Only thing I don't like about it is the bridge pickup. Strange thing is I have the same wilkinson pup in another guitar and it sounds great.
Bloody hell the box is pristine, every time I get a guitar delivered it looks like the postie has made glory holes in it and gone to town on it🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I've played a few of those cheap? (cheaper) Vintage guitars Dave and they play and sound really good. Although much like the Harley Benton Gibson ripoffs, the headstock sucks big hairy balls. The headstocks on those Westfields look very similar to what Artistguitars are doing now (which I don't mind), although their SG's body shapes are more like the ESP Vipers. Their LPs are a pretty good price though as a base for modding. Most of my SG's I ended up with Epiphones (there's about 5 I think). Maybe even have a look at the Chinese Tokai's. If you're going to rip the electronics out anyway, I believe they're about the same price as the Vintage guitars, but with a proper headstock! Hope it all goes well for ya!
I have a 2017 Gibson SG Standard Ltd Ed. I bought from an estate sale literally never played with the tags still on it. I paid a third of it's Reverb listed value. My point is I have several guitars I paid about maybe 200 pounds for. I eventually upgraded the PU's and did setups and even minor work on a fret or two over time. My point is they play and sound as good as the SG.
Set neck... Dave, man... these axes these days for bugger all money... far beyond the awfulness I grew up on i n the late 80's. Shall keep me peepers peeled for any one of these. Am on benefits so ... budget budget budget. Glad to see you healthy man, aint looked in on the channel since 2016, a video about cheap pickups that I loved and showed everybody. Didn't realize I wasn't subscribed - am now! Bless you, sonic brother
Man, dunno what you problem is with that headstock - I think it's vastly nicer than, say, an Epiphone one? - ain't it funny, the things that wind us up haha brilliant video Dave
I got mine cheap on ebay and it needed some work. Had to sand down an even fret and replace a broken pickup guard, also added a roller bridge which helped the tuning once i'd got it set up. The pickups are a bit bland sounding but it plays fine. Have it next to my bed and if it falls over I don't care which is good.
Just taken delivery, this morning, of a Vintage VS63 in white/ivory and 3 gold pickuos. Terrific build quality and elegant look. Played it thru my Hiwatt T40/20 combo, found the pickups to be a little too bass and muddy with all EQ at 12 o'clock. Needs a play with for tone (possible Hot-Rodded pickup upgrade - but I had to Seymour Dunc' my Gibsons, too) - otherwise, a great fully professional quality instrument.
They had an apprentice make the template who accidentally used the electronics layout which was a drawing from the back and placed it on the front side of the template. If Vintage flips the controls around, there’s proper room for your hands and the first volume will be where it’s supposed to be. Guitar sounds good aside from that Blackstar tone. 🤮

Is the top actual piece of maple or a veneer? These snuck up on me and I live in Texas. Everyone needs a good import beater for flyover gigs.
How about the sound in a live situation?!

I have this in red I like the headstock better than the epiphone arse crack
The balance thing is so important. I recently bought a Yamaha Revstar and sold it the next day as it neck dived. Really good point.
Totally agree!
I have the cherry red sg and a vintage les Paul. I love these guitars.
Headstocks not as bad as the epiphone ones!
True LOL

I put P-90s in mine. It’s sounds and plays fantastic!

Good to know, thanks mate :)
I may listen to this again just to hear him talk. That accent and manner of speaking amuses me. In a good way.
I picked the exact same guitar up for £70.00. It has slightly skewed fret markers.
Sounds great and plays great

Got the Epiphone Sg (red) and I love it
