    No he's not trying to protect his O line. The reason sacks are so celebrated is because it's one of the best plays Dline, linebackers can make. But in term of impact on the game, they are far from as important as other big actions: 1st down, td, int and what not.

      QBs are also responsible for taking sacks. If there is a blitz and not enough protection, it's the QBs job to get rid of the ball. If he extends plays, it's up to him to throw it after a point because you can not expect the OL to protect for more than 4 secs because they can't hold. QBs get allotted so many advantages by even being able to throw the ball away while they are getting sacked and not take a sack.

      ​​@@shialaboof5977 That wasn't the point he was making....he isn't saying he nor anyone else shouldn't care about being sacked, he's saying that the sacked statistic is bogus because lots of those are 3rd down sacks in which it wasn't the o-lines fault and he was just extending the play as long as it could possibly go.
      He isn't saying he doesn't care about getting a first down, he's saying he doesn't care about 3rd down sacks in regards to how much it's showing he's being pressured, because the sack statistic and 3rd down sacks themselves are not indictive of how much the pass rushers are actually getting to him.

      His way of thinking got him to a superbowl last year and that was with being sacked 70 times in the regular season......now to put the importance of sacks the Steelers have led the league in the last 5 plus years in sacks.....not many playoff wins and almost no sacks in the playoffs......scoring more points is the objective.....he will have some bumps and bruises and it will take some time off his career......but he will be trying to win while he is here
