Ahh, I remember Sentsuizan from X6. Everytime I tried to attack an enemy with zero whil simultaneously trying to grab a rope, he'd fling himself into a death pit. That game was really stupidly designed.
When I saw the preview of MVC3 and in one of them i saw zero, i believe it was the 3rd preview i went nuts!! Zero is by far my fav video game character! And its awesome that capcom put him in the vs series....
This is awesome man, thanks for putting this together! I'm a HUGE fan of Mega Man, especially the X series. Did you look at the Mega Man Zero games at all when you out this together? It brings back a lot of Zero's attacks from the X series, including things like the upward slash and having Omega-Zero use the Rekkouha when you fight him. Plus the games are just a ton of fun, so you should check them out anyways if you haven't yet lol =)
This video is amazingly edited. The only possible flaw I could think of is waiting a tiny bit of time after showing the text on the screen, before displaying the footage of the moves from the original games. But I had to think really hard to come up with that flaw! This vid rules!
as a long time Megaman X fan, actually x4 being my first game ever played, never actually did i play x3-x6 or older megaman games, i play UMvC3 with zero, it didnt occur to me that the moves derived from the previous titles. Great vid :)
i just want to point out. the technique "rekkouha" also goes by the name tenshouha, which is translated to "amaterasu's command". it is obtained in megaman x8 by defeating optic sunflower. but this is a really cool video. good to know there are still many megaman fans out there.
actually genmu attacks come in the three varieties :) kai - the simple zero blade that zero uses against x in their normal battle and the one that nightmare zero uses in x6, zero - the one in mvc, most similar to kai but aerial, and rei - the instakill variation of maverick zero but amazing compilation, actually didn't know about some of these to be in mvc!
This is beautiful for people unfamiliar with Mega Man... but a seasoned vet like myself couldn't help but say 'duh' for most of the video :D Good at you for including the buster shots though. I never looked close enough at those to notice.
Genmu Zero was originally called Genmurei. "Rei" means zero in Japanese. Capcom wanted to be a bit clever and changed it to Genmu Zero in MvC3. His sprites are flipped because it seems he is canonically left handed. In most art works, his Z-Buster is on his right arm, and his left hand holds his Z-Saber. In the MMX games, the true sprite is facing left, meaning his Z-Saber arm is his outside arm. In MvC3, the true sprite is facing right, meaning his Z-Saber arm is his inside arm.
Sougemu (Twin Dream) is also an item/gadget/skill you could equip on Command Mission Zero. It's the coolest thing because you could have 2 aftermirages and then use his Hyper and watch the mirages bullying the boss xD
Holy crap this must of taken a lot of time. This is great! I was thinking of doing somethig like this with viewtiful joe since his moves are easy but im too lazy lol.
@halogodess The time freezing aspect of that level 3 is the Dark Hold from Mega Man X5 (Dark Dizzy's weapon). The giant sword part is made up but the shape the blade takes references the saber in Mega Man Zero.
thats awesome how all of his attacks are from teh epic games ^_^ Only othe rthing noticed.. During the Zero blade launch, hadangeki, his sword at the end of one of the slashes, looks like the Saber from the Mega man Zero series. Many of those attacks also return in that series as well.
Ya know, in my point of view, The Megaman games, pretty much all of them, are a a whole lot of under-appreciated diamonds. D: They had platforming levels, action fights during the levels where you can do whatever you want to destroy the robots, hidden items so you can discover it and figure out the secrets, and had AMAZING music. They should remake them or re-release them again and make more! If there are any complaints, it is that new people who play the game have a haaaard time. >.>;
Everyone complains about all zero players being the same. But here's an idea. Should they do another Marvel 3 like they've been doing with SF4, give zero a weapon change command like Ammy. Give him weapons he had in X8 and change his style with each weapon, and specific moves with each weapon. Haters will really have something to complain about.
3:23 , Final level of Zero's charged buster is reminiscent of the colour it is in Maverick Hunter X. (Most notably if you get the buster parts from Zero, the final buster charge will be a large red projectile like Zero's buster is.)
He doesn't need to double jump though, he has no only a normal airdash, but he also has his command air dash that he can use to zip around in all kinds of directions (which functionally is almost like a teleport). And yea none of his individual attacks are especially strong, but that's because he's a combo fiend and links all his moves together easier to take people down fast. I think they portrayed him very well IMO.
speaking of Ittou Ryoudan: Genmu Zero, while the original name is one i still like (Genmu-rei) the attack itself within the X series has a reason as to why it's nerfed, there is a Genmu-rei Kai that is used by Nightmare Zero when you fight him to regain certain characters, thus, Genmu Zero is still designed like Genmu-Rei (still translates to Genmu Zero) from X5, but has the power of Genmu-rei Kai.
The similar moves you mentioned had different names as well, they're not all named rekkoha, there's hakkoha, hakuhouha and Rekkoha, which omega spams a lot in mega man zero
When you talked about "Rising" being the launcher, I don't think it is, from what I remember in Xtreme 2, "Rising" was just Zero coming in, dashing at the opponent and then doing a uppercut, while rising off the screen which is when it turned back to X. It's either that, or when he dashes, he does a dash attack first (Similar to Shippuga) and then does that Rising Uppercut to vanish away.
Ah I noticed that there was no real use for ryuenjin described in the video...actually if you buster cancel out of it into raikousen L you can go into a corner carry combo. Need to be preemptively charging the buster or do a shippuga loop before hand. Also mad shoutouts to being gdlk and having time to play the x games again. I need to do the same :)
Dude you forgot the ground forward throw that looks like Rajingeki and how Sougenmu is made similar to "Heat Haze" in Command Mission! But either way it was a superbly made thing for fans of the megaman series...speaking of megaman...
@shadow2bolt is it really called cheerios?! I thought about putting it in, but it was fairly obvious. Also, I couldn't have his cool teleport away animation if he died
I didn't know where Omega Zero's attack patterns were based from until now. Rekkouha and Ryuenjin were the ones I was familiar with (except for the part where Omega dashes before using Ryuenjin)
I like how zero can still do so more but it may be impossible to do all of his attacks in a single game, also they should've added X, he CAN fight even if he doesn't have a sword.
lmao i loved using only zero on MVC3 thanks to the moveset i already knew how to play as him and landed almost insane combos XD couldnt even let anyone move
@jmoonies I'm not sure that's canon. Yeah, you summon Zero so he gets critically damaged so X can get his Z-Saber, but yeah. I guess Capcom just wanted to nerf Zero's Z-Buster so X's looks better in the later games.
@halogodess Dark Hold? That's from X6, though not nearly as flashy. Just a simple time freeze and Zero does his emo turn his back pose. Then the screen goes negative :P
This kind of ridiculous detail is why I love MvC3, I mean a move from X8, damn I'd love to see one of Haggar, mainly cos I got the game to see Dante, but Haggar left me gobsmacked. Violent axe comes from Capcom All stars, other than that he be pretty easy
Thats a nice overview about Zero's abilities. Btw, I don't know how to explain but the MvC series made Zero look weak in compairson with other characters ;/
@GojiGuy yeah, dark hold is fricken awesome it makes me super sad it wasn't included. Unfortunately I don't actually own tatsunoko, otherwise I would've considered adding those moves in as well :P
@VincentBelmont I was actually thinking about that. Trish too, since she's unlockable in DMC 2, though I imagine that'd take quite some time (yeesh, maybe another 6 months). I'd need to procure a copy of the DMC HD collection as well...
@jmoonies I think if they gave Zero that double jump along with his instant kill Genmu Zero move, he would be more powerful then Wesker is in Ultimate.
As much as dumb DLC stuff annoys me, I would probably pay for more music. Zero's theme is good and all, but after watching this, the nostalgia of all the great music made me miss those games. Also, not that I'm complaining but instead of his 2C being a reverse C, I would have appreciated a move like Hyouretsuzan being a 2C move but whatever Capcom. Great video none-the-less.
so in other words the Zero in the Game is a combined concepts of all Zero's in the Megaman X Series (Megaman X up to X8) with the Awakened Zero mixed in?
TBH, I'll take Genmu Zero over Dark Hold. It only does 350k damage, but unlike Dark Hold, which is another level 3 cinematic that would average to around 400k, this has utility. It's startup is invincible, and I've used it soo many times to counter a random beam super. It's so satisfying. I've never actually played TvC though.
They should have given Zero the X4 "Thumbs-Up" teleport if he doesn't take any damage for the entire fight.
i don't think it is needed because of zero's cool personality.. it might be awkward or maybe a cringe to see zero doing that.. just my opinion.
What if he just did a turn around no thumbs up like in x5
@@valiancer17 I think being cringe in a cool kind of way actually fits him.
6:09 SLIGHTLY nerfed??!? Dude, that shit was an INSTANT KILL. That move was mega nerfed in MvC3.
This video's well-edited but understated. It feels tasteful on its own, but for a Zero fanboy it's an absolute treat. Mad props to the maker.
I feel it's kind of lame that Capcom went with Ground Scaravich's downward dash weapon instead of X4's icicle of doom. Loved that sound/animation.
4:26 You forgot to change its name. It's "旋墜斬" not "龍炎刃".
Ahh, I remember Sentsuizan from X6. Everytime I tried to attack an enemy with zero whil simultaneously trying to grab a rope, he'd fling himself into a death pit. That game was really stupidly designed.
It's weird to see Shippuga in the X4 purple and in MvC3 it's red
Shippuga is pink not purple.
@Zedrik Allen Lol it's HIS technique...what if he changes the name...
@@solitudinepersona4468 You too
Movies like this are awesome, but Zero as a personal favourite character in any fictions makes this just too sweet. Huge thanks jmoonies.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing the nostalgia!
This is something that I would personally want to see people do in the future, especially with marvel characters, Great job jmoonies!
I know this video is already old, but the moment Standby Zero kicked in, you know shit was going down immediately.
1:30 Every time I see Zero do his auto combo in UMvC3, I just think of him shouting, "Ho-ha-WAH!!" in MMX4 :D
I'm glad they included 1 attack from X7, X8 and Command Mission.
as a long time Megaman X fan, actually x4 being my first game ever played, never actually did i play x3-x6 or older megaman games, i play UMvC3 with zero, it didnt occur to me that the moves derived from the previous titles. Great vid :)

I appreciate you using his X Command Mission music, thought Sky Lagoon would've been great too. Anyway, awesome vid =]
actually genmu attacks come in the three varieties :) kai - the simple zero blade that zero uses against x in their normal battle and the one that nightmare zero uses in x6, zero - the one in mvc, most similar to kai but aerial, and rei - the instakill variation of maverick zero

oh man :'D the feels when i see zero and his old moves there zero is my forever favorite character of all time and games , forever a rockman fan
You , Sir , have just made the awesome-est video ever.
Thank you so much for making this.
I shall now spazz over it again , BRB.
This is beautiful for people unfamiliar with Mega Man... but a seasoned vet like myself couldn't help but say 'duh' for most of the video :D
Good at you for including the buster shots though. I never looked close enough at those to notice.
Ha, nice! I'm glad someone is doing this, as someone else was also working on Smash Bros movelist. Always nice and informative.
Genmu Zero was originally called Genmurei. "Rei" means zero in Japanese. Capcom wanted to be a bit clever and changed it to Genmu Zero in MvC3. @prinnyvinny web spider's weapon is kind of a lightning lance though. Doesn't zero just spam shots during his throw?
I didn't noticed the attacks' similarities with other megaman x games. Good video anyways
Lotsa love to show this to everyone. I noticed a lot of similarities and I don't own the MVC3 games. Many thanks.
It is great to see that some people can appreciate Capcom's attention to detail :)
I was thinking of doing somethig like this with viewtiful joe since his moves are easy but im too lazy lol.
i have to say awesome and great but increadible recopilation of his attaks jejeje zero is the best XD
great video
congratulations on finishing such a laborious effort
@halogodess
The time freezing aspect of that level 3 is the Dark Hold from Mega Man X5 (Dark Dizzy's weapon). The giant sword part is made up but the shape the blade takes references the saber in Mega Man Zero.
Filled with nostalgia. Great vid! Hope to see more of these compilations!
thats awesome how all of his attacks are from teh epic games ^_^ Only othe rthing noticed.. During the Zero blade launch, hadangeki, his sword at the end of one of the slashes, looks like the Saber from the Mega man Zero series. Many of those attacks also return in that series as well.

i liked his three hit combo in MX5 and his voice was perfect, "FI!, FA!, FOE!" lol
English Translation : ''F*ck! You! B*tch!''
He doesn't need to double jump though, he has no only a normal airdash, but he also has his command air dash that he can use to zip around in all kinds of directions (which functionally is almost like a teleport). And yea none of his individual attacks are especially strong, but that's because he's a combo fiend and links all his moves together easier to take people down fast. sick stuff, loved the vids. saw a ton of stuff derived from x4 and x6, my two favorites :D
I love this video, and all the effort put into it.
whenever Zero uses "Rekkouha" it freaking sounds like "Tenkuuha" ....
anyway, thanks for the video, I FREAKING LOVE ZERO!!!
wow, i didn't know there were more zero references in the game. awesome.

And the fact that Sentinel attacks "humans", wich is the factor that defines a Maverick
That was a very cool video dude. It most have taken a lot of time to make, I wish you could do the same but with Strider.
Shippuga is purplr in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and wheres his Tatasnoko vd Capcom special Dark.Hold?
After watched this video, I imediately download all megaman games to my computer.
Ahhh...Memories...
Ah I noticed that there was no real use for ryuenjin described in the video...actually if you buster cancel out of it into raikousen L you can go into a corner carry combo. Woo ! I finally met someone that played and beat EVERY megaman game ! :D
amazing work jmoonies , love the video , can we expect more videos ? I think one of the longest video could be Dante or Vergil
It would be nice to see something from the zero series like the shield boomerang, chain rod(triple rod), or even the recoil rod.
This is cool, are ther more planned for other characters?
I knew that Stryder move hyper was familiar! Oh Captain Yammar you.
I didn't know where Omega Zero's attack patterns were based from until now.
Rekkouha and Ryuenjin were the ones I was familiar with (except for the part where Omega dashes before using Ryuenjin)
Can you please do this for Megaman X in MvCi
I like how zero can still do so more but it may be impossible to do all of his attacks in a single game, also they should've added X, he CAN fight even if he doesn't have a sword.
lmao i loved using only zero on MVC3 thanks to the moveset i already knew how to play as him and landed almost insane combos XD couldnt even let anyone move
how do u do the move where zero turns into strider?
Err, I meant compared to the other Mega Man games, Mega Man X actually had a storyline you could see.
The forward ground grab move for zero looks like raigingeki from mmx4 from the lightning boss just saying but great vid
I meant Hyper Move... Not move hyper...
Zero's forward throw (ground and air) should be derived from X4 acquired from web spider. Good stuff for the fans i suppose
also, at 7:00, the attack is very similar to one in zx advent called rising fang, which is in model zx's move list.
that oroboros from strider hyriu comes from mvc1 already and megaman x6 wasnt even being thinking of lol in that time the max was megaman x4
Rekkoha in that megaman X8 clip is close to the Hyper Animation in the game
by the way that Commander Yammark Weapon and Ouroboros rocks
@jmoonies I'm not sure that's canon. Yeah, you summon Zero so he gets critically damaged so X can get his Z-Saber, but yeah. I guess Capcom just wanted to nerf Zero's Z-Buster so X's looks better in the later games.
The end of Mega Man Zero 4 as well, i cried :(
Crouching H and air S more closely resemble the wall slide attack animation from X4 and X5, methinks.
Zero would be so OVERPOWERED with Uroboros and Sougenmu activated plus that he's fast dash and that he can set up unblockables
@halogodess Dark Hold? That's from X6, though not nearly as flashy. Just a simple time freeze and Zero does his emo turn his back pose. Then the screen goes negative :P
I would like to add that the creator of DMC also left Capcom and produce and similar game - Bayonetta.
This kind of ridiculous detail is why I love MvC3, I mean a move from X8, damn
I'd love to see one of Haggar, mainly cos I got the game to see Dante, but Haggar left me gobsmacked. Violent axe comes from Capcom All stars, other than that he be pretty easy
@jmoonies that's impressive. Have you ever thought about playing the original megaman games?
Excellent video. You should make one for Amaterasu!
No, they actually had a tangible storyline.
Am I the only one who dislikes how Zero's ponytail goes up like that?
Thats a nice overview about Zero's abilities.
Btw, I don't know how to explain but the MvC series made Zero look weak in compairson with other characters ;/
@GojiGuy yeah, dark hold is fricken awesome it makes me super sad it wasn't included. Unfortunately I don't actually own tatsunoko, otherwise I would've considered adding those moves in as well :P
@IkariTenryo yeah, would've included the awakened zero bit in there except that ultimate's X factor looks something like a cancer scan
@jmoonies Ah, so they'd change armour/style with their hyper moves?
The rakkhouha is more an homage to the Tenshoha instead of the previous version.
@VincentBelmont I was actually thinking about that. Trish too, since she's unlockable in DMC 2, though I imagine that'd take quite some time (yeesh, maybe another 6 months). I'd need to procure a copy of the DMC HD collection as well...
yeah it is, i've seen it used several times before dude.
@jmoonies I think if they gave Zero that double jump along with his instant kill Genmu Zero move, he would be more powerful then Wesker is in Ultimate.

Great video none-the-less.
so in other words the Zero in the Game is a combined concepts of all Zero's in the Megaman X Series (Megaman X up to X8) with the Awakened Zero mixed in?
do it with X in mvci v: and zero remake xd
Zero's lights in U/MvC3 could come from his Z knuckle or whatever that weapon was from X8, I think. (If this wasn't already mentioned.)
great video i would just saw u didnt show his jumping heavy only down heavy or his crouch light if iam not mistaken
Are you going to be doing this for each of the characters?
Same for me only I never beat X7 got up to the last boss and just found it a pain in the ass to beat as Zero.
What I thought they should have added for Zero UMVC3 was his double jump from X4-X8.
