Tony Stark may be a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist and, you know, Iron Man, but he’s also the king of sarcastic quips and nicknames. Tony is one of the wittiest characters in the entire MCU so if he could come up with some funny way to insult you, then you know that’s exactly what he’s going to do. Tony Stark has given out over 50 nicknames throughout the years and most of these are insults, but you do you Mr. Stark. It’s crazy how he has nicknames for all the Avengers and even people he’s met one time!
James Rhodes is one of Tony Stark’s best friends, but after being called “honey bear,” “platypus” and “sour patch,” he might have to rethink his life choices. Thor has gone by “Shakespeare in the Park” and “Point Break,” which are both quite clever. Black Widow has been called a “triple imposter” while her best bud Hawkeye was dubbed “Legolas,” a Lord of the Rings reference we could all get behind. Hulk has been sarcastically called “Jolly Green” by Iron Man, but the best nickname of them all has to be when Tony referred to Steve Rogers’ time frozen in ice as him being a “Capsicle.” You’ve got to love a good portmanteau.

I like Rocket’s reply to Tony calling him “Ratchet”. He said, “you’re only a genius on earth, pal”, letting Tony know there are much smarter beings outside the Milky Way. Tony can see all of the alien tech the characters from other planets have had, therefore some super geniuses must exist that designed them.
Having different technology than ours doesn't mean that alienated beings are "super geniuses", it merely means they have a different way with science. Tony Stark is the only person to have created nano-particle tech in the MCU, and that would technically make him smarter than, well, everyone? When Rocket says, "you're only a genius on Earth, pal," he means that what he was working on involved alien technology.
@@yourcomrade888 also since iron man created ultron who created vision who can manifest the time stones power which is a infinity stone and we have seen how strong infinity stones can be to controll in guardians of the galaxy he is probably in the super genius level in the whole universe
I mean, they have advanced guns, but his nano tech can literally make anything, so you tell me what's more advanced, a gun that super advanced, or a gun that is super advanced that comes out your ass and attaches to your body? Drax was like "Do it quill, I can take it!" Then mantis rightfully says that he couldn't. Plus, they could never capture iron man, they had the device first used by peter back in guardians 1, the device that pulls things in, but that still couldn't stop iron man. Rocket has guns, sure they are advanced and he's quite smart, but I feel like Tony is still smarter in the armour and in general. I mean, tony created a time machine, and a gauntlet that could hold the infinity stones. Rocket is kind of useless without groot or the others, while tony is one of the greatest avengers.

Wait a minute - Tony gave 'Ant-Man' aka Scott Lang another 'nickname' - he called him 'Piss-Ant' in the scene before he & Steve go back to 1970 in Endgame
A 'Pissant' is an actual term, which is defined as, "an insignificant or contemptible person or thing", which was a reference to his size, because smaller things are typically less significant.

Thank you for explaining the "Underroos" name in Captain America: Civil War. I never understood what it meant. I had heard of Underroos, but I didn't understand how it applied to Spider-Man.
I thought the jolly green comment, by Tony Stark, was a reference to the jolly green giant in the vegetable commercials back in the day.. Because this new Hulk was happy.

9:15 Underoos nickname for Spiderman/Peter Parker was less about his pajama-like costume and more about what Underoos were. Underoos was a type of little boys underwear that would have super heroes on them--assumedly their favorite super hero. Admittedly, this nickname was a bit of a stretch and didn't fit perfectly, but I don't think it had anything to do with "pajamas". I think he was referring to Peter Parker as a little boy playing super hero.
Let's be honest, up until that exact second, we ALL thought Rocket was a Build-A-Bear.

Why didn't we see the big brother-little sister relationship, that Tony and Wanda have in the comics? In the MCU, they never talk.
Probably because after a bomb destroyed their apartment and killed their parents, Wanda and Pietro were hiding under a bed for three days while a second, unexplored bomb sat three feet from their faces with the name ‘Stark’ on the side of it, and every attempt to rescue them shifted the rubble and could have set off the bomb, killing them both.
