Everyone's saying "Phineas is more sarcastic here, I kinda like it more than how he is in the actual show" and although I like it too, I don't think the show would be the same if Phineas wasn't as oblivious and optimistic. In my opinion, it works much better as a contrast to the sarcasm their mom already has and Candace's teenage anxiety. Yeah it's kind of "generic optimistic cartoon protagonist" but idk, he's his own flavor of that amongst the other characters.

It's so weird hearing Dr. D say "I'll get you!!!" instead of "Curse you, Perry the Platypus!!!" 3. I also found it interesting that Dan had the voice for Doofenshmirtz planned out before the others. You could tell he didn't just want to be executive producer. He wanted to get in on the action. 4. I think they could have left in the joke about the exits. And the one that goes "What a view".

I absolutely love how dry Phineas could have been. Even in the theme song, he was dryer and way more sarcastic. I would watch an entire episode where Phineas was sarcastic and a condescending jerk. No like, don't get me wrong, I like chipper Phineas, but just 1 fed up sassy child episode would be perfect.
It's fun to see this alternate version, but I think I prefer the sweeter Phineas we ended up getting... and the Isabella who chooses to be help along when Phineas and Ferb are busy.
the amount of running gags that have been established from the very start is amazing, its kinda crazy how many they managed to shove in every episode without making it feel repetitive

They were able to present a variety of styles under many trusted visions. Sure not all of the shows became hits, but this who did exceeded those expectations.
I remember seeing the episode and thinking "oh Doof's plan won't work because aluminium isn't magnetic", but I should not have expected logic to stop him, only crazy platypus antics can stop him.
The title sequence includes two lines that were not included in the final version: ...or giving a monkey a shower. Phineas: "Don't try this at home." ...or driving our sister insane. Phineas: "It's a short drive." Candace: "Phineas!"
Why is Phineas savage. Like its almost hilarious how rude he was to Isabella. And I mean we do see it a little bit in the actual episode. When he says "homework" but still very funny.

I always found it interesting how Phineas seemed a lot more bored/sarcastic in episode 1 compared to the rest of the show; it's interesting to see that even by that point he had been toned down from the original pitch. I'm also really glad that they reworked Isabella's character to be more interesting rather than just a one-dimensional unrequited love interest (now she's a two-dimensional unrequited love interest!).
I can definitely see why they changed his name to Doofenschmirtz! Not only does it sound funnier, but when spoken, Meddleschmirtz sounds too much like mittelschmirz, which is a type of menstrual cramp. That’s what I thought they were saying at first until I saw it spelled out, so you can imagine how that surprised me a bit xD

Growing up with this show, there is so much to appreciate that I honestly didn't get when I was younger. The entirety of Parry being a 60's cold war spy spoof is something I can definitely appreciate from a directional standpoint for the show. There's a huge amount of personal inspiration and creativity in this show.
I really loved the music in the rollercoaster scene of that first episode. I was rockin' out to it!! 😀 And I loved the little "🎶Ah ah ah, ah🎶" right before they get to space.
In an alternate universe, this was picked up as a Toon Disney cartoon in the 1990s. I can imagine it would be a cult classic or something, but glad it's still in popular culture like Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and Super Mario.
I don't really like Phineas more sarcastic and sassy personality because it'll probably be very grating during a marathon. I think it's fine if you're watching an episode a day but watching a lot of episodes in one sitting, not so much. I prefer Phineas being more optimistic and happy because it balances out Ferb that is already pretty sarcastic when he isn't silent.
And several references were brought back in the Musical version of the episode, like the line about “mark your calendars because you will want to tell your grandchildren about this!” Overall, very interesting! And is it just me, or does Doof sound like he’s playing pretend with his daughter when she’s little or something? 😆
