Oh man, Bill, that was really nice. No matter what horn you pick up, you always produce that nice, dark, rich, beautifully textured sound. I'm amazed at how in tune that little pocket trumpet plays. I was looking at a Carol pocket trumpet myself, but the brushed lacquer finish model. I like the one you chose as well though. Thanks for posting this video play-test.
Hi Bruin, the bell on both of these horns is brushed / lacquered finish along with a silver plate body. The cornet has the slides brushed too. It's a nice looking contrast, especially with the polished / lacquered valve caps and finger buttons in polished / lacquered red brass. CB doesn't charge much extra for the customization either.

I like the cornet but that pocket trumpet has such a dark sound that i have to say i like it better. Love your flugel horn videos too. I likedarker sounds too
Am I mistaken, or is this one track of a trumpet recording and a video playing a cornet and a pocket as advertisement? Not knocking just, sounds great, just wanted to find what's what?
Not sure what you're confused about. It's two videos that were synced together and presented as one. One take was recorded and filmed with a cornet and another take was recorded with a pocket trumpet. The purpose was for the viewer (or potential buyer of either horn) to hear the difference between the two horns in order to make a decision on which one to purchase or both. During editing, I switched back and forth between the two takes for sound comparison. Hope that clears things up for you.
Bill, I like your sound with both of these horns! The cornet has a 4.843" bell. How do you think the 5.25" bell would work on it? I also like the ACB FX mouthpiece and mine is the 5C. When I want to get a little brighter I use my ACB 5C TF mouthpiece, which is still a lot deeper than the normal 5C.
I inquired about the 5.25" bell on the cornet. It can be done but the bell would have to be flaired away from the bell slightly as to not interfere with the slide. It would make the cornet have a wider, more dispersed sound. It's narrow compared to the pocket with a 5.25 bell. If that's what your looking for.
@@rpoutan the Cornet mouthpiece was indicated in the opening graphic of the video. It's a Dennus Wick 4 cornet MP. It's deep and makes any horn darker. I haven't found the best MP match for the cornet yet. I ordered a Wedge MP and will see how that works. I haven't recieved it yet.

The mouthpiece is giving it the darker tone. It's an Austin Custom Brass 1.25 CSFX. It has a bright tone with a standard mouthpiece.
