    Agree. And they shouldn’t have took up so many object slots with silly eye masks and pimple patches and accessories. They could have been actual pyjamas for men or kids.

      @ if they put too many items in a kit, that will set a new standard for kits, which then effects the amount of objects in stuff packs, game packs, expansion packs, it’s all greed.

      Ea is shooting themselves in the foot with these limitations. When paralives gets going (and early access gets to a certain point of playble) people are going to jump ship so fast, because I can already see that I'll feel like I have more freedom of expression, and just buying the game will mean I get access to all updates. I plan on buying the early access as soon as I can just to support them.
      I still think they'll need some longer term monetization, but I feel like they'll ask the community how to go about doing it first. Or do it respectfully Like, I wonder about if they have a good gallery, they could let people have a gallery of 200 builds for free, but then $5/month if they're a big builder like lil simsie. I could see the storage and network access getting huge.

    There’s this thing called “setting a precedent” and that’s why EA is very restrictive about ‘what’s in a pack’ based on its type. Its not about the pack costing more to make or worry about how much space it takes up on your computer or how bloated the game is getting, its worry that if they ever offer more than the standard they’ve set, people will start expecting it as the new standard for the $5 price tag and THAT they don’t want. They have never lived down the size in Windenburg for example and have been TRYING or years. Where as when CC creators make a CC Pack they just include all the things they think make the pack feel “complete”.
    Which is why I hate kits, they rely on you accepting small bite sizes cause it ‘cheap’ hoping to ‘cheap’ you into spending a lot of money over a long stretch because you’ll go ‘well its just $5’ several times a year where as for an GP or EP you might think just a bit harder about buying it. Its the psychological manipulation of micro transactions to create the smallest footprint for the highest profit (highest PROFIT not price) and because its ‘just $5’ people don’t think about the culmlative many $5 they’ve spent.

      ea defenders will never not bother me because $5USD on some virtual pajamas for a handful of pixels on a screen that I don’t legally own is objectively a lot. at any moment ea could decide they don’t want me to have their pajamas anymore and that $5 was for nothing.

    • @steggopotamus
      @steggopotamus 13 годин тому +1

      All the past events should be part of base game. Maybe incorporated into the base game worlds. If they release these things a year or two after the original event, then the original event will still have enough FOMO for people to play, but people stuck in the hospital or whatever won't have to miss out on the stuff.
      The events seem to add so much depth to the game and it makes the game feel hollow now that the Reaper's rewards is over.

    as a PC player who mainly builds, I don’t like using BB cc because I like uploading my finished builds to the gallery with no CC. I like kits because I mainly purchase them when I went a specific style or theme of build/buy items but I don’t feel like I’m missing out if I don’t own the kit. I definitely think I prefer kits to packs because they mainly exist for aesthetic purposes. As far as CAS kits, I wouldn’t buy them because I’d rather download free CC

    • @TheDawnofVanlife
      @TheDawnofVanlife 13 годин тому +4

      Yup, this is the advantage of in-game objects, there's no barrier of sharing because its a game object. Also, they stay game compatible unlike CC which always has the possiblitity of breaking. I had pet beds I was using for ages that just became incompatible in the DX11 change so while basic CC usually holds up just fine (still using some made in like 2016 that work fine), there's always the possibility also of the game changing enough to break CC where as in-game objects produced by EA ALWAYS stay compatible.
      I just hate kits because of their micro-transaction nature. And I remember old previous main-title Stuff packs which have their name because they were packed full of STUFF (before Sims 4 shifted what a Stuff pack was, they are incomparable). I can see what EA is doing with kits and I don't like it from a pay-more-for-less standpoint. Yeah, $5 isn't much as base price but that's the trick. It's not about base price only, it's about base price for yield of objects and I think it's a high price not because $5 is expensive, but I think it's a low yield of digital product for that price. I could afford any pack or kit I wanted, if I don't think it's worth the price I don't buy it. I didn't buy seasons forever cause I just didn't care and I only gave into Growing Together on sale cause it finally seemed reasonable and I love that pack as a family player. I haven't bought Life and Death yet because while I think it's a good pack, for the stuff I personally want for my gameplay (heirlooms, funerals, and the graveyard lot type), I can certainly wait for a sale. The trick is thinking any pack is "necessary", none are.

    I preferred the sims 3 store. Kits are so limited.
    Eventhough the sims 3 store was more microtransaction-ey than kits, I could buy entire worlds with pre-made families that had lore, as well as additional gameplay!
    There was just more variation in the quantity of items that came in big sets you bought off the store e.g. you can get furniture as well as CAS items buying some themed sets in the sims 3 store.

  • @MarkusHansson
    @MarkusHansson 15 годин тому +17

    My guess is that the creators behind these kits were hired as freelance artists, but I dunno. I doubt that they are getting a share of the sales. The limited amount of assets is because of the budget that they have for kits and I think this has always been an issue with the sims and just because a creator is making the content that's not going to change the allocated budget that they have. The solution is unfortunately cost reduction or convincing EA/Maxis to expand and allocate more money to their development (and that's probably never going to happen) so they would have to reduce costs like limiting items, less cross pack compatibility, or reducing features. No fun choices but unless EA starts investing in the sims this is what we are left with.

    1. if they need to spend a penny more to add more content to a kit, they wont do it because they can get away with less. Money is everything to EA.
    2. CC creators FOR SURE get paid less than the official employers. It is so clearly a method of EA to cut down costs by paying cc creators instead of career professionals. (even if you could possibly call these certain cc creators professional already, they still aren't in EA's eyes) Less pay more profit!
    3. I buy kits because I really like the kit content. Often cc just isn't my taste because the texture/swatch choices and/or quality of cc creators isn't always that good. Also I'm paranoid because cc has caused me bunch of issues in the past so I tend to stay away from it. Official content doesn't cause game crashing for me unlike 1 bad cas cc. And then you gotta spend hours to figure out what the hell is crashing or visually glitching the game. (I have enough bug issues with the vanilla game already so I don't need cc issues on top of that lol)

    i think it might be because of the pack system? Like how kits cost 5€ and stuff packs 10€, which means stuff packs would have to contain double the stuff from what a kit does? since there are alot of cosmetic stuff packs that dont come with any gameplay (because that was kinda the whole point of them before they discontinued gameplay packs for some reason) and if kits would include more objects that would kinda make them "more worth it" than a stuff pack since you basically get almost the same amount of stuff for half the price so they kinda HAVE to limit the kits to contain as little as possible so stuff packs still sell? and the only way to increase the amount of objects in kits would be to improve the overall quality of ALL packs in the process but that would cost them money since they obviously get away with putting less objects into the packs since they still sell so they wont do that? IDK if that makes sense thats just what i personally always thought was the reason

Plus the gallery filters don’t care if you don’t want Batuu or To the Max items to show up. They’ll still show up so if it’s something that’s has items I can see myself using frequently, and it’s in a lot of gallery builds, I will sometimes buy the kit.

    I know it's a basic guess but I would imagine they're getting paid at least around half of what the kits are being sold for, more or less, considering these kits cost about double the usual. It allows EA to make a good amount of money for it whilst giving the CC creators the full cost of a standard kit per sale. Of course, the people who suffer are the players thanks to EA making it double the price 😐💀

    As someone who plays only on PC, I don't use CC to build or really any CAS items (exception is eyelashes and some hair). I buy kits because CC tends to break my game and I tend to not keep track of where I got my CC items from, so when an update rolls around it's a pain to update all items. Another reason is I tend to travel, so it's easier for me to reinstall all my dlcs then to find where I get my CC that my desktop has. Additionally, I like to post things now and then to the gallery, so I want people to be able to find my builds easily. Finally, I genuinely like majority of the kits.

  • @clariscollection

    I still buy kits but sparingly, its only if the pack really appeals to me and i will always hunt down cc to compliment pack purchases. The issue is i'm so far down the cc rabbit hole i cant imagine doing a build without it now 😅

  • @Vixenoire
    @Vixenoire 6 годин тому

    I buy kits I like versus using CC because I want my builds to be more accessible. I want console players to be able to place my lots. I want people downloading my lots to have confidence that there won't be missing CC that might ruin the build. I also find a lot of the CC to just look glitchy or really out of place, which Satch had briefly touched on in the video. I am definitely a Sims whale and have disposable income to spend on things I want... and I want Sims content. I only buy packs when I have confidence that I will use them and get value. I didn't buy the new creator kits because neither are my style and I'm not a CAS person to begin with. I don't know the full details on how the creators are being paid either. I don't believe they are being paid fairly (just because I have not seen *direct* explanations *from EA* on payment) and that pushes me away even more from ever purchasing those kits.

    I'm more of builder than playing Live mode, so getting a build items kit is something I preferred. I liked the general idea of a kit since its focused only one category but at the amount of packs EA/Maxis released since - EP, GP, SF and Kits- is outright bonkers. Moreover, the colour palette and textures barely match with other items exist in the game.
    And the limit of items? I could've have swore some of these kits has less than the others. And I don't get why a window for a different wall height count as THREE item instead of one. My assumption; greed and laziness. Considering what happen with DA Veilguard... let's just say I'm not entirely surprised.

    as a big fan of the fallout games, the bethesda-ification of the sims is like watching history repeat itself. broken base game, patches that break the game further, a passionate modding community that gets exploited by the developers (looking at you creation club). fallout 4 is literally unplayable without mods to fix basic elements of the game… and let’s not even mention fallout 76, where they paywalled items that have been base game friendly for years. this is the future the sims franchise is heading towards, mark my words.
    the worst part is - we all know this! we all know how bad the game is. i mean, this is a satchonsims video, he’s pretty well known for talking about how broken this game is. but nothing is going to change because people keep giving ea money for their content. i know kits are great for console players, but at this point, with how buggy the game is as a whole? stop playing the game! stop buying the kits. all this does is show ea that people are willing to pay for the bare minimum and thank them for not breaking the game - or thank them for patching the bugs that do break the game. stop buying the packs, stop playing the game, stop giving this company more excuses to push content onto a game barely holding on.
    i recently uninstalled every pack and plan on playing base game only with mods. it’s going to be boring and broken but at least it won’t be boring, broken, and bloated with packs that barely work together. idk, that’s just my opinion though. people can do whatever they want.

      I mean the other problem is, except for playing the older sims titles, there really is no other game like the Sims 4. Which is why I am praying both Paralives and InZoi ACTUALLY land....and we need both, so I hope people don't feel like we need to have a "best of" contest between the two when and if they ACTUALLY get published in 2025. Fans of the style of play Sims offers need an easy to buy and download and play modern full simulation game to really leave the sims. Right now all we have is two games that "could be" and the one that didn't cross the finish line in the end - "life by you" RIP. And I am not even sure vivaland is in the running anymore, as un-excited as I was about that game that would be a disappointment.

    I believe EA said they were refunding the money of everyone who bought the kits under the mistake price, so that you would have to then re-purchase them at the correct price if you still wanted them. So if you paid 10 pounds, they would give you back the 10 pounds, and you would then have to repurchase it for 5 pounds. Seems a lot more difficult then just giving 5 pounds back to everyone who bought it at the mistake price. But that is EA for you.

    A real actual menswear kit should 100% be a thing. I don't want macrame jumpers and kilts for my male sims, and I want haircuts that are not massive swooping floppy fringes with a dodgy side fade. That said, I also don't want boxy jeans and those awful "sagger pant" jeans that came out a while ago, which were literally like that time in Friends that Joey wanted to audition for an 18 year old *BLURGH!* I feel like the fact that a lot of the male staff that work on the Sims team are just a tee-shirt and jeans/sloppy hoodie kinda look is what impacts on the lack of male CAS input. And for gods sake, its 2024, sort out how to get a decent cap on a Sim that doesn't look like when you put extra foam padding under a crash helmet when you're learning to ride a bike. Also, Satch, when you put on those glasses, in my head, I heard Penny from Big Bang saying "Molecules" and I didn't hate it ;)

Next thing is going to be harsh, regarding your comments on ethical concerns…it’s up to the creators to ensure that they are compensated fairly. That is not my responsibility. If they don’t feel they are fairly compensated they shouldn’t take the job.
