Thank you! I love sewing of all kinds and am already planning on a somewhat quilted and embroidered jacket for possible entry for the Foundations Revealed contest. I plan on creating as long as I can. Cheers.
Stay tuned for new things...I am rather new at this video thing and find it takes more time than I anticipated, but things are underway. Make sure you subscribe if you haven't already.
As a certified AIFD floral designer, I agree, there are the same principles of floral design that are used in quilting: proportion, scale, color, balance, unity, to name a few. Well done! I look forward to seeing your Ikebana quilts!
Wonderful to see many of your quilts in one place! My fav is still the illuminated manuscript series. I didn't realize they were so large! And Bayou....love the feeling of mystery. Thank you for sharing your beautiful art Betty Jo!
Thank you for sharing your quilts, they are beautiful. You are very talented. It doesn't matter if some don't make it or win comps, it's about the journey while you are making them and the joy and fulfilment it gives you.
Debbie, Keep watching my videos and I will do what I can to address the quilting process with the projects I present in the future. Each quilt is a little different. Cheers.
Hi. I somehow missed your question earlier. Quilt shows, state and country fairs seem to be the primary places quilt contests are run. There are also some challenge contests by fabric companies, like Hoffman Challenge, which is where I started years ago (search for "Hoffman Challenge 2023" to find the challenge information . I usually find the shows I want to enter now at American Quilter's Society (AQS) quilt shows (they have several) and Mancuso shows (they also have several). There are two primary shows in the US...one is the Houston Quilt Festival and one is AQS show in Paducah, KY. These are tough even to just get in. Local quilt guilds often have their own shows (a good place to start). There is a lot of embroidery shown on wall art quilts, but i don't know where you would go for embroidery contests. Take it slow, allow yourself plenty of time to make a show quilt, and read and follow all the rules (available on the Internet for most of them). If you can attend a quilt show and see the juried quilts, it will give you a feel for things. They are spread out all over the US, and even in England and Dubai. Cheers.
Hey, not a quilter, but followed a link you shared on the Foundations Revealed video.
You work is AMAZING ! Keep creating !

fabulous, thank you. I am currently trying to include watercolor painting in my quilts.
You are welcome! There is a lot to consider when adding such painting to a quilt...it is very interesting and fun.
I was so thrilled to run into your you tube this morning. It was like finding a kindred spirit.@@bettyjotatum6115
