There are 2 beasts in this film : Bowser and the animation
I honestly didn’t mind Mario’s voice so much. It sounded like there may have been a slight New York accent in there, but his lines were so quick. Hopefully we hear more of his lines in the next trailer so that we can get a better idea of what the voice will be like.
They gave Mario his original voice the Brooklyn one, you slightly hear the accent towards the end, the stereotypical high-pitched fake Italian voice came later for video game sound effects. Mario is originally from Brooklyn, if people understood this they would be more ease of mind, I'm sure most of the boomers won't mind Mario's voice.
Yeah the mario super show mario voice was a Brookyln accent which I think is what he going for. I do hear it in the last line but a part of me feel like he needs more energy in the delivery in his way he talks. But yeah we really need to hear more from him before we can fully judge it. -Ben
Ngl, that teaser was very reassuring for all of us who thought the movie would be a disaster like almost all video game adaptation, especially in terms of animation, I'd say for now, we can expect something on the level of Detective Pikachu.
Us French are really lucky, while we retain great voices for Bowser, Toad, etc... Our Mario voice sounds much better, he's voiced by Pierre Tessier, who's the official voice actor for Ryan Reynolds.
So yeah, now I'm excited to see it, to see the great adventure the movie apparently propose.
Yea that part where Pratt is talking about his Mario character.. he had a time trying to remember the turtle characters as Koopas lol

Why does Chris Pratt say KOOPAHS like he almost failed a qte?
Honestly I didn't expect for the voice to be anything other than Chris Pratt lol. Like, there's a small bit of a Brooklyn accent in that last line, but not much else. And yeah it's not good but apart from that, this teaser absolutely blew me away.
I'm really on the fence for Mario's voice. Like the voice acting isn't bad, like from what the trailer shows Chris does a good job at voice acting. The problem was who he was cast as, he just doesn't sound like *Mario*

I’ll watch for Jack Black and Charlie Day, every other big name celebrity has a lot of trust to earn from me.
Damn it's a shame Mario sounds pretty 'meh'. But have to wait and see for the whole movie. Jack Black did good imo. But I kinda like Finnish Bowser too. (Our Mario sucks tho. He is worse than Chris).
French Mario on the other hand gives real mario vibes.
I think people are overreacting with Chris Pratt as Mario. Like guys, Mario sounds good without accent. Also, is not Chris Pratt fault,its nintendo's
Yeah the overall consensus is people like everything, except for Chris Pratt's Mario voice. I can tolerate it. I want to know who voices that Penguin King. If that WAS one of Charlie Martinet's cameos, then we definitely know he can talk in full sentences and Hollywood should have let him be Mario, oi.
If it was, then that doesn't mean he could talk for a whole movie AS MARIO. That's a very different and more strenuous voice compared to most others, especially compared to the penguin king
Charles Martinet played Paarthurnax in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, so he can definitely talk in full sentences and has a wide voice range. But I honestly think having Mario sound his usual self wouldn't work for speaking full sentences. Mario's Charles voice really only has one type of voice, and it wouldn't fit for a movie where scenes would inevitably become dramatic similar to movies like Kung Fu Panda.
I did wish he'd have more of an accent though. but we'll see.
