I would be SO annoyed if I was riding my mustang and a person decided to come up and grab onto the reins without permission. I feel for these guards I dont know how they handle all the tourists, i could never with me being overly protective with my horse
I watched a man do that to a girl on her horse trying to get in the ring. The horse flipped over on here and broke her pelvis. People are so stupid. 🤦♀️💔
Sadly this happens a lot where I live. I blame it partly on tv/movies portraying horses as not dangerous and like big dogs. Remember a lot of people who aren't horse ppl get most of what they know through various media forms. I just got through a court case when some dipshit parent thought that because their special snowflake did 4h I should give her my pwetty horsie so she could get pictures. She ended up kicked in the chest after she literally threw her hands up in front of him to prove he wasn't really that reactive. She's lucky all she got were broken ribs and not a casket. Back hooves put you in the hospital, front ones put you in the grave.
As someone whose service dog used to work in public, people absolutely think they can just walk up and touch them without saying a word. And they think you won't notice or care.
Yes I have a support dog his harness and leash says working don't touch or distract no one pays any attention and think because he's small and cute the have the right to touch thankfully my dog couldn't care less about other people and ignores them
I encountered a woman who told her child to hold my dog for a photo. I asked if she was blind, because the dogs vest stated “assistance dog. Do not touch”. She became aggressive and said that I shouldn’t have the dog in a shop if I didn’t want attention.
As someone who tryed to have a service dog but had it sabotaged by family due to their aggressive dog, this happens too often to me, many will either outright pet, or interact with my dog! Only when out in public was she determined to be not acceptable to pet most of the time but despite that, it fucking SUCKS becouse now I'm stuck, with a trauma based reactive dog, that cant be my service dog which I need still -_- for mt ptsd, and anxiety, as well as my autism, although she was supposed to be specifically a ptsd/anxeity dog, when she was able to she actualy preformed wonderfully! But now I cant have that literall life line all becouse of selfish people petting and letting their dogs offleash! Thank god I can handle it on my own for the most part when I need to but there has been times I couldent and it greatly affected my life
There is one horse named Arni. He nips and bites at a lot of people. He doesn’t put up with much until he lets the tourists know he’s pissed. The guards don’t stop the horses from biting. I like that.
@@trekadouble757 So glad there is someone else who realizes that bits are not fun for the horse. Jointed snaffles pinch the sides of the mouth, curb bits put pressure on the tongue due to the curve in it , the chain acts like a vise and as you point out, because of the long shanks any hand movement is magnified. I honestly do not have as high an opinion of most of these riders as most people who comment here.
@@hotpocket5265 I agree, I am Canadian so many of our cities have horse mounted police. I have seen people straight up arrested for harassing the horses thinking it's just a cute animal. No, that horse is a police officer it's illegal to mess with them. You can ask politely to pet them, especially in Toronto they will usually say sure and show you how to nicely pet them. They used to actually have trading cards for the horses in Toronto you could ask the cops riding them for one idk if that's still a thing though. I don't think horses should be used for crowd and riot control and stuff in cities, it's abuse but that doesn't change the fact if you are going to run into them in public you NEED to know basic manners around them
Agree it's an entertainment factor. They serve no purpose. These horses have attitude cause there sick of their job. When in the year 2024 still stuck in the 1600 century.
I love that you refer to these “entitled” people as “adult babies”. You are so right. The problem is, they are out there, in the world, and they are breeding!
@@Eeee-xl4xbwill you be my best friend? I nannied for 3 years and I would say 95% of everyone in any class or guardian/kid activity we did were entitled parents that were awful and kids that did whatever they wanted and had zero manners. The cycle will only continue and I'm not bringing a kid into that kind of society. And that's to say nothing of the incoming ecological disasters and not wanting to contribute to that.
Just as the King's Guard are actual elite soldiers, their horses are actual trained warhorses, and they know their job includes keeping people in line. How do horses keep people in line? Same way they keep other horses, cows, sheep, and dogs in line. Turning, shoving, biting, and kicking. So while for most horses, aggression of any sort is huge problem, this warhorse is being a good boy and doing his job :) There are signs posted telling people not to stay behind the barriers, to not touch the guards or the horses and to give the guards space. Both the guards and the horses are authorized to use physical force to enforce those boundaries, and believe me those guys will tackle a fool with no remorse. And of course, the part that these videos never show you is the people getting removed from the premises or even fined after breaking the rules. So... it's not a lack of rules, it's just tourists being complete idiots.
Thank you I was actually going to post this, She seems to only react to the worst of the video's or only show the most dramatic parts without even understanding anything about it. It's become a common troupe with her at the minute. I don't think she cares as long she gets something to make content out off. I've been to London and seen the sign's and everything posted around there, seen the armed guards wandering in the crowds and the barriers that's supposed to stop them but a lot go around them. I don't think they mind as long as you don't put your hands on the reigns, most of the guards are pretty mellow until you touch the horses reigns. You see British people standing were there supposed to it's people from other countries who seem to think it's OK to break the rules. People like these are probably the same type who would be out in the wild's and approach a bear or something then wonder why they get mauled.
I said this in my video, I understand theses are trained military horses and that the guards are also military... the entire point of the video is the quality of live these horses live and the public safety risk this poses. Horses don't HAVE jobs, they're horses.
I did watch the video and as I said you react with out knowing the full story those videos don't show everything that goes on. There are armed police in the crowd, barriers, multiple signs in different language's, police cars but again its tourist's being idiot's. How many times have they ignored sign's just for the perfect selfie, climbed barriers that had a share drop on the other side, fallen to there deaths because they were idiots. You can put huge neon sign's all over and they wouldn't listen. Also you say horses don't have a job but isn't Link's job to be you personal riding horse. If horses didn't have a job there would be no horses.
@@RaleighLink I'm sorry to disagree, because I valued and respect the points you tend to bring up in many of your videos. If horses never had jobs, even now, then there is a high chance we simply wouldn't have domesticated them, they wouldn't have been around today, and I feel that would be a great loss to the world. Even now, if many horses didn't have jobs, people wouldn't get them. You've even stated in other videos that people don't really get horses that they can't or won't be able to ride ever. The main reason people want them is for riding, and that in itself is a job.
I feel bad for the horses. Being photoed with , constantly being grabbed and surrounded. Everyone speaking loudly. Then when the horse tries to tell them “hey I don’t like this stop.” Everyone gets pissed. I’ve been to the castle with the horses and I’ve seen people grabbing / squishing the horses cheek - lips and ears .
Clearly you don’t know anything about them. They are trained to do this just like police horses. If they didn’t like it the horse would’ve done something by now😊
@@Dusty_toast the horses have done things - I actually know quiet a lot since when I was younger I was really fascinated by guards and especially horse guards. Yes the horses are trained but it doesn’t mean that they can’t get annoyed with people constantly taking pictures and touching them. They still have feelings.
If you think that's bad just think of how shit their lives would've been when they ran with heavy ass people on their back during wars.. _Compared to that this is a vacation._
It seems like a really fast way to condition those horses TO bite people to avoid their mouths getting ripped out. Imagine whenever people come up to you, they grab the reins and then the guard rips the mouth and shouts. If I were one of those horses I would worry every time a human walked up to me while standing there. Poor horses. 😞
Seriously, though. I feel especially bad for the horses at 5:03 and 5:19. They did nothing wrong and yet they receive such harsh tugs on the reins. Regardless of if you like bits or not, the bits these horses are wearing are objectively very harsh, and you can see such in the way they react even with the lesser pulls on the reins. The guards need to find a different way to keep the tourists in line than inflicting pain/discomfort on the horses like that. They don’t want the tourists there anymore than the guards do.
@@lumini3172 Personally I choose to not use bits with my own horses. But even for people who do, the bits used in these videos are incredibly harsh and downright nasty. I completely agree with you. Poor horses indeed… really very sad…
@@countchocula5379 I totally get not using bits. Honestly at this point I have a borderline repulsion to them, but I sure as heck am not going to condemn people who use sensible bits in a sensible manner. The bits the guard horses are forced to wear are far from sensible and those harsh movements don’t help in the slightest. There is no reason to have such an overkill device anywhere near an animal as sensitive as a horse. Some bits should be outright banned in my own biased opinion, particularly ones like that in the video which increase torque to such a grievous degree. What’s keeping them from using a less extreme bit? It makes no sense to me. Edit: By “they” I mean the higher ups that control what the horses wear. I know that the guards themselves probably have little to no control over that.
I've watched quite a few of these videos. I can honestly say I am hoping for one of two things to happen: a horse takes a good bite out of some entitled encroaching human who thinks this is a Disney exhibit and/or a guard swoops down with that sword and smacks a rein grabber, hard on the arm. Two things I know I will never see but still hope springs eternal.
I wonder if they're allowed to use the swords? I mean a tourist distracting your guard duty is definitely a safety hazard so I think a sword smack would be appropriate
I actually did see a video where someone was nipped on the arm by one the horses… they were standing next to a clear Warning Horses Bite and Kick sign💀
In Sweden, I'm pretty sure the guards can even shoot you. They likely won't, but they're allowed to do it if they warn you and you don't move back. They are real guards.
Went to see these guys a few years back with my then 7 year old daughter. She was desperate to pet the horse, I stopped her explaining that the horse was a working animal, like guide dogs. (She knew about blind people and the dogs) A woman behind me heard what I said, walked past and said "it's ok, it's why they're here!" Horse wasn't pleased by someone rushing up to it and headbutted her square in the face. Guardsman wasn't best pleased either. Animal education is so important! Thanks for the video, keep up the good work.
I see this a lot with dogs. My dad has a people reactive German shepherd. He does not like men. The other day while I was taking him out for a hike, this guy at the park reached out to pet out him and my dog reacted accordingly. He didn't bite him thankfully, but he gave him quite the earful. People are so inconsiderate and entitled, so I have to agree that the horseman guards shouldn't be a thing.
I have a reactive dog and so many people who exercise their dogs in the empty lots by my house lack recall, down or sit stay. The owners also do not clean up after their pets. My dog may have issues, but she is so much more obedient and well behaved than all the other "good" dogs as my vet says. She wears a muzzle which keeps most people away thankfully.
@Anna Strand I have people yell at me sometimes saying my dog shouldn't be in public if he doesn't like people. What people never fucking understand is the way to manage reactivity is with exercise and socialization. Reactive dogs deserve just as much as a non reactive dog. I've been considering a muzzle for his safety. He's never bit anybody but he sure makes a scene if he doesn't like you.
@Detective sorry if it bothers you but it's how I choose to speak and express myself. If you don't like it you don't need to read it. Im not going to change myself for your comfort. But there's no rules saying I can't either.
Me and my family adopted a 6 month old Blue Heeler puppy not too long ago and she recently got scared by some kids while out on a walk. They ran up to her, didn’t even ask to pet her and were trying to pet her and the whole time she was backing away, tail tucked between her legs. I backed away with her, kept her away as best as I could since I knew she was uncomfortable. And they wouldn’t listen to me when I told them to stop, she’s doesn’t want to be pet right now and of course their dad, who was out with them, didn’t even tell them to stop. That pissed me off. We’ve also taken her into a couple pet stores so she can get socialized and people have just walked right up to her to try and pet her. She’s a very sweet dog and honestly loves the attention, all tail wags and wiggles, but it annoys me that half the people we’ve encountered don’t ask.
I've got to be honest, I agree with everything except the part where you said the soldiers would be left alone if they were just standing there. That's already a thing and they get treated appallingly, there have even been incidents of tourists attempting to urinate on them, punch them, kick them, scream at them, you name it - just to get a reaction for videos. It's awful! If the ceremonial aspect is to continue then there needs to be a barrier to prevent tourist getting withing 5-10 metres of any personnel or animals as well as additional security forces. Take your pictures from a distance and safely. People forget that for the soldiers and animals, this a is a day at work and not a "fun attraction" or petting zoo
There are barriers people just go around, your asked to stand a respectable distance from them but people don't listen at all. Why do you think there are armed police and guards around to try and keep order, if it showed everything that went off you will see people being asked to move on or stay back but tourist's will be tourist's. Look at all the deaths from trying to get that perfect selfie including ignoring all sign's.
But the soldiers on duty have a right to respond in a fashion after a certain period of time, as I have witnessed when a large gentleman from America was right in the face of one of my countries guardsman throwing abuse etc, he was wanting a reaction and after, as I said a period of time, not that long a time, the guard did react, he floored him with one swing, knocked him out cold!! He deserved it.
I lived in the United Kingdom, but being from the Netherlands, the first time I saw the horse guards was when I was 12. I saw the changing of the guards. It's a go-to place every time I am in London. The horse guards are combat veterans and it is a very sought after job just like the the Yeoman Warder at the Tower and the guards at Buckingham Palace. The last time I was in London I got a chance to go to their little museum that tells you all about the horses and you can visit the horses in their stables. I felt very privileged. The horse guards horses are a heavy Irish horse. Every guard gets assigned their own horse and is fully responsible for taking care of it. The horse guards ride in Hyde Park every morning for exercise. They change shifts every 30 min
Sought after job? You mean by people who are lazy hoping to get paid by being stationery? I wouldn't want that job for big money. That's a zombie servant job
@ML This is NOT a zombie servant job. You, like many people who are completely ignorant about what the Horse Guards do, are under the impression that it's the same horse and guard day in day out all day long. In fact, the horse guards change every 30 minutes, and many horses are used throughout the day. The Horse Guards or Blues and Royals do a lot more than just stand outside at White Hall or where White Hall used to be before it burnt down in 1698. To call this a zombie servant job just shows that you have zombie knowledge of history, honor, and duty to your country. The Blues and Royals are part of The British Cavalry, and before they can even apply for the Kings horse guards, they have served in the British Cavalry in operations around the world just like the United States Cavalry that my son is currently in. They have distinguished themselves in service to their country in some way to apply. But obviously 🙄 you have no clue of what that means.
And while those guards and their mounts are stationed in the huts, the horses are manhandled, frightened, surrounded and generally bothered by fools from around the globe. If reefing on a bit and scaring the horse with your loud, angry shouts is what you're after, I guess this would be it.
Thank you for bringing this up. I absolute hate it when people go and touch horses (and any animals) that don’t belong to them. I was on a trail ride with my leopard Appaloosa pony and some family came up to us and let their child start touching my horse and taking photos of my horse and their child. I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable with this! And when I tried to walk away they told me I was being heartless and tried to gaslight me into believing I was bullying their child because I didn’t want the random child to touch my horse! Maybe if they had asked, I might have let their kid give my horse a pat, but it is EXTREMELY RUDE to touch an animal (or let your child touch an animal) that they don’t know/own. You always need to ask, and if you are told no, take that as an answer!
That's nothing. I had a guy, his girlfriend, and their toddler drive up my 1/4 mile driveway, get out, and approach my stepmom's untouched stallion, even holding their toddler over the electric fence to try to have her pet him. I have never sprinted out of a house and down a driveway faster. People are stupid, nuts, and ignorant of just how dangerous horses can be. This horse regularly kicked my dad, and frequently attempted to bite me when I'd try to gentle him down. That child could have easily been killed.
I used to do some voluntary work at a museum, where we basically dressed up from a given time period (in this case where we still used horses for labor etc) and I drove around with the baking wagon, where I was a baking maid (not sure if it's the English term, it's not my first language) and my job was to drive around the museum with the fjord horse and the wagon and sell bread. I cannot tell how many people wanted to pull the horse around, sit on him, pulled around my clothes because they wanted to feel what it felt like etc. I've literally never been this objectified in my life. I was 19 at the time. People really are worse than toddlers when they want photos etc.
Tourists forget that these horses are not lesson ponies that are bombproof and don’t bat an eye at waving things around in their face. These horses are near to fearless, they are officers of the kings guard. So respect them like you’d respect any other officer.
I cannot comprehend why people think they can touch everything with zero permission. I’m autistic and I literally stopped coloring my hair because people would randomly touch my hair! I also see people go up to service dogs and pet them without permission all the time.
A friend of mine was out riding her lease horse, and he has some trouble with not wanting to go away from the barn. It was a good day, so he only stopped once they were in the woods (these are public woods, used recreationally). She patiently waited him out, occasionally nudging him, which is what works, but then some guy comes up, grabs the reins and start pulling on the horse. Not asking if she needs help, just grabbing and start pulling. She was so shocked, she couldn't speak.
So true. I used to take my pug to work with (I own the business) and adults were typically the ones who would pet my dog, who was behind the counter, without asking. The children usually had better manners. It always shocked me when someone would come behind the counter like they owned the place. I eventually had to stop bringing her to work with me, which is sad.
With the guards and their horses, they really need to teach these people “look with your eyes, not your hands!” That’s what I learned at a young age, I’m still a teenager. Seeing adults acting like children make me so mad and disgusted/disappointed.
Have you seen the one where that one lady is constantly harassing the horses and blocking other people from taking pictures and directing people how to pet them like she’s the damn horse whisperer? Meanwhile, the horse is growing increasingly agitated from her constantly messing with him. Later she gets yelled at for grabbing the rein and she complains to the police. She’s absolutely infuriating. She shows up another day too, poor horse.
She's no longer allowed to touch the horses and if she stands in front of the boxes too long she's told to move on by both the police and the soldiers.
Yes, that woman definitely has some mental issues. The horses REALLY didn't like her as well, which was interesting as she was quite friendly. I also saw a Tibetan type monk come up and the horse and the man touched foreheads for a few moments...it was beautiful and thought provoking to watch.
They use the horses the same reason police use horses. The guards can see over the crowds. The horse guards see the issues and alert the police. It’s not just decorative.
As an equestrian from the uk I totally agree with what you said about it being out dated and the bits they use are awful 😊 Edit: the saddles are made from WOOD some horses get sores on their backs and sides 😢
The saddle tree is made of wood for a specific size horse, the base is padded and covered with leather. If the saddle fits the horse and is used with a saddle pad and is properly cinched, there is no problem on a healthy horse!
The finest saddles have a wooden tree, because they "give" and can be more tailor-shaped to a horses back. Much better than metal trees but some people don't like them because they are prone to creaking (oh boo-hoo!). Military saddles are built to last and are not quite so comfortable in the padding department for the rider anyway, hence probably why the soldiers used sheepskins which could have had other uses such as a blanket in the field of war. The regiments have some of the best Army trained saddlers and farriers you can get.
Non-wooden saddles are a very recent product. All saddles were made from wood for as long as horses have been saddled. If a saddle fits the horse and is well padded there is nothing wrong with it.
I cant think of any situation in which these brutal bits should ever be used. They can never be justified. These horses are being used as actors in a ridiculously outdated glorification of a ridicularly outdated monarchy.
My friend uses a replica of an 1800 wood saddle custom fit to his horse. He said it is very comfortable and his horse likes it better than the saddle I have ridden his horse in.
We have mounted police officers in Mobile Alabama. I’ve never once walked up to any horse, let alone a police horse and thought I could just start petting it. You always ask politely and if they decline, you move on. It’s not a hard concept. You always ask. These people would never walk up to a wild lion and pet it. It’s the same concept. You don’t know what that horse has been through or doesn’t know. Thank you for educating these people. Hopefully they will listen.
Well, to be honest, people can't really ask the guards if they can pet. The guards aren't allowed to move or speak unless they or the horses are touched or impeded in some way. I think they should be sectioned off in some way, to prevent people from even having tje opportunity to touchie.
@@alongcamekarmaYou can actually ask them. I've seen plenty of videos where people do ask the guards and the guards nod or say yes. It's not so strict that they're not allowed to speak at all.
@perkasami6305 this is true, but technically they aren't supposed to respond. Since it has become more of a tourist thing than an actual guard thing they seem to be more lax. Which is nice. But a lot of times even if people do ask, they don't typically receive a response. If they do it was purely from kindness from the guard. ^.^
@@alongcamekarma I believe they do nod yes or occasionally speak because while they are guards, they also serve as a semi-ambassador role for the monarchy and for the country. The impression they leave on tourists can be fairly important. Some of the guards do seem to be very kind, though. Some seem to very much enjoy that moment where they can scare the crap out of people yelling at them suddenly, though, too, lol! I've seen those same guards be very kind to others that are respectful. Edit: There are a handful of kings guard horses that seem to LOVE attention. One especially that I recall. So I'm not surprised that they allow people to pet him and even crowd him frequently. Even allowing multiple children to pet him at once, and he just eats it up. I've seen that horse snuggle many people. That horse is ideally suited to the role.
Every time I go to the national gallery I LOVE walking past these horses, they’re absolutely stunning and I just stare. I would NEVER touch the horses, even looking at them too long I feel like I’m being weird haha
Was taking my horse on a beach ride (her third time ever despite being super well behaved and already familiar with waves crashing and similar sounds) and had two random ladies and a toddler march up to us, hug my mares neck and have the toddler right next to her and declare that she’s so pretty they want to take a picture with her. I would normally not mind but I was seriously overwhelmed and still managed to tell them to be careful since my mare is still quite young at 3 1/2 and unfamilar with this situation. Luckily she’s a very good girl and wasn’t startled but I saw my life flash before my eyes as they walked away again just trying to imagine what would’ve happened had my mare not been calm and collected and bitten the toddler. So scary people have no concept of personal space with animals
Sadly we do have areas with just the guards standing and people still act like dumb asses with them aswell. I also wanted to thank you for your educational videos. they have taught me a lot about horse behaviours and how to be respectful when interacting with them, which in turn has helped me to train my dogs good behaviour around horses.
I agree with most of what you said, except for the last part. I live in England and I can tell you that with or without a horse, tourists still take pictures of guards. It's literally seen as a tourust attraction to try and make them laugh or move because they are supposed to stay still. Removing the horse would definitly make the horse safer, but you would still probably get tons of tourists crowding the guards.
The guard get payed for it and chose to appy for this job. The horse had no choice but is coerced to stand there by spors and bit. Just get a better fence and locks and there will be no armed guards needed. These guards on horse have no function at all but "tradition". F*** tradition. Where are the animal right groups when you need them?
I was at a festival, and they had carriage horses. When they stopped people started taking photos next to them and just touching them, the part that upset me was that one person touched near the horses point of hip. People should understand that horses, with millions of people around and crowding them DO NOT like being touched, especially when they are uneasy.
13:25 most people who live in London also are not exposed to horses as it is a busy city. If petting an animal without the owners permission became illegal we would be better of as a society. I completely agree with Raleigh on this one she does such a good job at getting her points across keep doing what you are doing Raleigh it makes a huge difference to the community even just by pointing out the slightest issues and how to correct them.
The Horse Guards serve a purpose. They are part of guard duty protecting the palace. As important as the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. People need to respect that they are ON DUTY, and that means don't play with them, they are MILITARY MEMBERS, with permission to TAKE YOU DOWN AS A THREAT. Should the horses still be used? In this day of imminent threat, horses are great crowd control against "just" peopled mobs. A car bomba may change that, but until then, in the UK, tradition wins out.
It hasn't really anything to do with protection. They could put a few dozen police officers in armor in front of the palace of it was for the protection. It's just for tourism, nothing else.
I would really like this comment to be pined on top because.... Anyone who live in the UK knowns NOT to touch the military horses. They treat their horses extremely well, they take their horses out for hacks around Windsor and their youngster along to get them used to traffic. they put so much work into them and so much care, they do care. I personally have had pictures taken next to those horses, however I've kept the right distance, and most IMPORTANT of all, I asked the rider for permission first. Tourists don't just walk up to those horses on daily basis, it happens sporadically, most people have respect. Queen Elizabeth loved her horses and invited Pat Parelli to the UK, she raised awareness on the right horsemanship. It is an outdated practise, but it is also a part of the beauty of England. These horses are well looked after, they have outdoor time, they have quality training, aren't back too early, have SO much work put into them individually. Way more than most horses do. Thank you for attending my TED talk x
I agree with everything you’re saying. People who have never owned a horse and possibly some who have, do not know that bits put that much pressure on a horse’s mouth. People who are horse illiterate think bits are for steering the horse and nothing more. You’re doing a great job in educating people about horses.
well if you were right, then all riders would not use bits at all, would they? But they do and do so harshly. As the guards in this video did to make the horse toss their head up. The tourists are idiots in any way, no question.
That kind of bit should never ever be yanked on. It should never be used with a tight rein and it should only be used by a person with very light hands. In other words, most people should never use one.
UK person here, and I have watched a lot of these. I hate the nasty bits that they use. And also I think that these horses, as well trained as they are, they know that they are going into ultimate boredom in that box, where they are expected to stand still for hours at a time. I watched one where the horse was clearly uncomfortable, they led him out of the box, I was hoping that the horse was going to be replaced by another, but no they just circled him round and put him back in.😣
@@sirgrandpa3787 only sometimes! Yes, sometimes they do, but on many occasions I have been around watching these people do all this and the few horses we saw were on 1-2 hour shifts and I never saw either of the 5 horses get any food or water and we were stood there for the majority of the day!
Ooooh watch out Raleigh! Last time I made a comment about those guard Horses being outdated, Rick Gore pinned my comment and an angry mob of monarchy bootlickers came after me XD
I TOTALY AGREE with You. I've seen many of theses videos and in so many I see STRESSED OUT HORSES. They get BORED and FRUSTRATED having to stand there in one spot for So Long. The consently chewing on their bits, getting spooked, jumping into the crowds, and feeling unsettled being consently touched by kids and adults.
"People are babies these days" - THIS! Yes, so much! You're so right - this is THE quote of this day and age. Watching these videos just makes me yell at the screen because all those people are so stupid!
People have always been babies. There are many old stories and written complaints from as far back as the 1800s of people acting like entitled assholes. It's actually pretty funny to look through, but then infuriating when I remember recent real life comparisons.
As a long time UK resident I unfortunately have to report that the guards without the horses get the EXACT [if not possibly even worse] treatment. Additionally I didn't realise they were using those nasty bits still that's a little sad to hear :((
Im glad you covering the queens/kings guards. It's a daily issue there. People just ignore the private space of both the guards (horse and rider). They are on duty and no one would touch a police guard just because. Just unbelievable what people do just for a frigging picture. And people even don't thank the guards once a Pic is taken
Your assessment is good but there is another consideration. The mounted guards are expertly trained to scan the crowds in a way that even cameras cannot. And the mounts can truly be a less obvious first line of defense. Yes, it may well be time to give it up because even with good care and frequent rotation the job of standing still and supporting a guard while wearing extreme tack is not a great assignment for a horse. To note, though, we desperately need a society where people respect even the simplest of rules. So many to almost any public attraction taunt standing guards, feed sanctuary animals, pick flowers, drop trash, write on walls. . . I guess the inventory for reaction videos about bad human behavior is endless. Thanks for continued, excellent content.
There are barriers but people just don't give two flying ones about them. Even when armed police ask them to step they don't care, its the culter that tourist's expect to get everything they want no matter what. Look at how many have died by being stupid to get a selfie provers a point when they go over barriers in some of those.
I am from the UK and I'm very sorry my dear, these horses are trained to do this work, just as a Police horse is trained to be in the public midst. The horses are NOT MISERABLE thank you anymore than a carriage horse in America that has to tramp up and down the streets of certain big cities, with gas guzzling vehicles weaving dangerously close to them, or like the Budweiser horses pulling drays of beer etc, etc. It is my countries tradition and we are proud of it and want it to continue. Plus the fact that yes there is the backup of armed policemen for these guardsman, but any mounted Policeman will tell you that they are very useful seeing ahead from a height other than from the ground, should something be amiss, but for getting into places that motorised or foot patrol Policeman might not be able to get too and quicker. So you see, though they ARE part of our countries pageantry they still are very useful . I agree that people should not feel they have the right to manhandle them, that's where we in the UK fail the guardsman and their horses. As there is a large sign telling them to be aware the animals may BITE!! we should also include that no TOUCHING of the animal by visitors is allowed either!! Our visitors love to have pictures standing by the duo's and why not they've paid to come to our shores so lets make it memorable for them, it is possible to mix the two together, it just needs a little tweeking though. I'm quite sure that NYC's mounted Policeman would definitely agree that they play a very important part in Policing and that they would be sorely missed and not just for sentimental reasons. Good programme you have.
Have you seen the man trying to ride a horse that he buyer off craigslist from Austin to Washington in 100 days….. the horse is skin and bones at the moment he is called: 2raw2ride
The horses name is Shiok. The man who is riding him has not conditioned the horse at all and has packed so much weight on to the horses back it unreal…. I honestly don’t think that the horse is going to make it…. Shiok is also lame aswell…
I was born and raised in London but spent as much time as possible at weekends in the country with my aunt and grandparents who both had horses and they taught me to ride, stable management etc. and horses are a great love. So I have grown up with the Blues & Royals, Life Guards, Kings Troop and the rest as being part of my country's Royal culture and heritage. I can say that from a very young age I would go to Horseguards and stand with other members of the public to watch the guard and 4 o'clock inspection. We watched through the railings not slouching about the quadrangle like they do now, getting in the way and being rude. When did that become a thing, allowing Joe Public to get up so close to sneer at these men and women doing a job and treating the place like Disneyland. Nobody touched the horses, a few people would stand nearby for a relative to take a photo with a big old camera and that was it. No touching. I now don't have much reason to go up to The Smoke but when I have the amount of tourists is shocking. Well it's nice they come and visit but they are so disrespectful: pushing and shoving you out of the way, climbing over statues, walking where they are not meant to, but the worst are the huge travelling groups who just swarm without a care for others. I used to love interacting with tourists; giving them directions or a nugget of information of historical interest. Not now, many are rude, entitled ....and I wish they would leave those poor horses alone.
As someone who comes from London I completely agree with everything you’ve said here. The royal family are not really animal lovers…. They’ll never get rid of the mounted guards (my grandfather was a Lifeguard in the ‘40s)
What’s dumb is even if you take away the horses, people will still harass the guards and want to take photos and touch them lol. There’s videos all over the Internet :(
I agree with you on many aspects, but not this. I'm legitimately curious. Horses have a variety of jobs. Many can be safe. These horses are switched out each hour, if I recall quickly. They are all provided shade and security from the rain from the areas they are posted. They are also rotated in terms of jobs: For example, one week they are posted, other weeks though, they do drills or may even be on rotation. In the palace, armed guards step forward to assist, but that is also a safety precaution for the horses themselves. Most horses enjoy training and having jobs, as long as they aren't abused or mistreated. Also, even when guards are posted by themselves, people do these actions. I DO agree that there should be clear markers preventing tourists from being able to approach or touch the people or horses, however, even if it is an outdated practice because no one really uses cavalry horses anymore, there's nothing wrong with showing off, especially because over the years care and consideration has been allotted to them, and their jobs are treated as a standing guard, with much much shorter shifts. I have nothing wrong with people showing their culture and partnerships with animals when their animals are cared for. This isn't like bull fighting or big lick. This is literally horses that are cared for being displayed as an aspect of culture. (Again I wanna say I do think the touching should not be allowed, period.) But my question is this: if it wasn't for the touching, would you still have an issue with this? Do you think this is something that could be done in a way you would be satisfied over the horse's care, or would you abolish it completely and feel like there is no redeeming or possibility of this being positive?
As a British person, I agree that they shouldn't have the horses standing there any more. They're purely decorative and a living tourist attraction, and the number of tourists hanging around is just too much for them these days. I also get the sense, from some of the clips that I've seen, that it's becoming a thing to touch the reins and get shouted at by the soldier. If they have to have the horses there, at least put some sort of barrier around them so people can't get to them.
It’s sad how many people are willing to let go of culture in Britain :( this is a very old tradition and is a part of our great culture which must preserve, sad to see people think otherwise
@@charlie2834 the fact you're not acknowledging that traditions can be outdated and incorrect baffles me. Letting go or altering traditions that are dangerous or inhumane is a good thing, it's sad to me that some people don't see that.
People have.become so entitled over the last 20 years. I don't recall people grabbing the reigns of these King's Guard Horses, at this frequency, back in the day. It's a rule that you couldn't come within six feet of them. People poised with the horse and guard, but they had to stand on the left side of the warning plaque, if you were facing it. That usually gave about a 5-6 foot distance. But now, they just walk right on up. So I agree with you. Either stop the tourist attraction, or stop people from posing with them, before someone, or a horse, gets injured.
I love the way you undetstood both perspectives and then stating the facts, it makes everything easier to listen to and understand. This is the Raleigh we know and love, and anyone who get's super defensive about anything can argue against these facts! "I wish these horses would bite more people". I agree 100%, people need to learn
Hi, I hope you see this, as a British equestrian I feel I can add more context and add information, the kings horses are indeed Switched throughout the day with a horse usually standing for approx 30mins to an hour and will stand in a post no longer than 1 and a half hours at most. These guards do starve a purpose, while there swords are mostly traditional hence why they don’t carry guns like the queens guards, ( for reference a gun armed kings guard, the ones with the bearpelt hats, are the kings guards while the sword armed guards are called the kings lifeguards) both types of lifeguards, mounted and patrol, WILL use there swords and are especially trained to use swords in a case where there is a threat to the king. Every 10 minutes or so another guard will come and check on the horse and switch it out early if needed, your not allowed to pet or touch the tack or guard, even trying to talk to the guard can get you escorted away, however people do it anyway. And your argument that these horses live terrible lives is certainly not true, there is both an on site and off site stable and pastures filled w it h treated grass, miles of fields to run in, daily exercise and training and overall these horses live better than most. These horses are trained for battle, there not just props, both the solider and horse are trained for an instance with an attack, bombing or shooting. Basically, the only thing a tourist is allowed to do is stand about a foot away and keep there hands to themselves, and depending on the guard they will either choose to strictly enforce those rules or loosen the rules a bit but let me tell you no guard will let a tourist mess with the horse, if you touch the horse you will be shouted at.
So interesting to hear your take on this Raleigh. It made me laugh out loud that you would prefer armed guards to be visible outside the Palace, what a shocking idea!! We don't do guns like you do, lol. The horses are there so that guns are not seen! For hundreds of years they have been The Attraction, the reason for visiting the palace, our connection to our heritage and our Monarch. Whilst I completely understand where you are coming from as an American, to the Brits, especially the English, removing these horses would be like removing the Monarchy itself, there'd be riots! lol. "Public safety? Dangerous?" LOL we use horses in crowds for public safety!! Horses are the first line in crowd control on purpose because humans respect them more. It takes far more for a riotous crowd to attack a horse than a human. A horse can charge an assailant far more safely than armed men. They are learning to navigate massive, loud, unpredictable crowds. Dealing with these idiots gives them the experience to be unphased, the idiots will never forget their lesson! They are never on sentry daily and the ones that don't care for it are not selected. The late Queen was one of Monty Roberts first converts, she transformed her entire equine empire. Everyone involved with training Royal horses are Monty educated. The Guardsman, are exquisite horsemen, the horses' welfare always paramount, their holidays long, lush and frequent. Decades ago I was an exercise rider for The Horseguards, an incredible, privaliged experience. I can say the bits are chosen and used correctly, (even at sentryduty), those horses defiantly let you know if they're not happy believe me! They have a far better life than most people and I'd be very happy if I reincarnated into a Horseguard horse for sure! Love your channel and your passion, sorry this was so long I hope it was useful.
The entitlement of these people reminds me when I was walking my boxer dog Bandit on the beach (leashed of course), and a mom with her two kids were deliberately moving in my direction, despite me making attempts to move *away* from them. Kids yelling in excitement, with the mom hyping them up all like "Come on, let's go pet the doggy!" and I was like "You do mean, ask me for permission to pet my dog, right?" and she looked at me as if I insulted her, when all I wanted was her to be respectful and ask :I
I’m so glad you did a video on this, this stuff isn’t talked about enough. I don’t get why the tourists are just allowed to walk up and bother the horses.
I have two elderly dogs. One I have fourteen years and I carefully socialized him when he was a puppy (sat on bench outside the library and inviting people to toss bits of snacks on the ground then to the "department of Justice" for our state and sat on a bench and had people in uniforms, suits and kinda scary people toss him snacks.) I never let strangers pet him. People with kids say can my son pet your dog and I say NO. This is just a bad habit to encourage your children to pet your dog and something can go wrong in an instant. You think if you ask permission, but this dog your kid is petting is a stranger. Respect their space. Do not touch.
You make such good points, Raleigh, things that I wouldn’t have necessarily thought of prior to seeing/hearing you on this video. Makes me sad that the horses are the ones that always suffer.
Yeah people need to stay away from them. It has been done for centuries. These horses are better taken care of than 80 percent of horse owners. You want to pet a horse go to a petting zoo.
One day in the last stable where my horse was I found a stranger in my horse's paddock. A man watched in front of the barrier while the other tried to catch my horse, in fact he had climbed the large wooden door to enter. I did not know before that day that this stable was unsupervised and that they did not put electricity in the fences.. My gelding is usually very friendly but from afar I saw that he didn't want to go near this man. When I told him that it was forbidden, that it could be dangerous and that he had to go out, he didn't want to cooperate. He kept repeating that he wanted to "just pet him", I even wonder if he hadn't been drinking or taking drugs because he had a really weird attitude. I had to yell at him that I was going to call the police to get him out of the paddock and there he became aggressive with me, I thought he was going to come and attack me but the other man came between us to hold him back and they left, luckily I never saw them again. The problem is that people think they have all the rights and they get offended when we ask them not to feed or enter the pasture without horses that do not belong to them. My horse has food allergies and has already had serious diarrhea because people came to give him carrots, bread etc. without forgetting that if an accident happens during an intrusion into his paddock, in France it is the owner of the horse who is responsible for the damage caused by his equine, even if it is the fault of the imbecile who entered. It's really time for people to become more respectful and intelligent, but that in our current society seems very complicated!
Totally agree with your views as far as the equestrian component goes. But then there is tradition, the Kings Guards are professional solders who have been on duty even before pale faces turned up in the Americas. In the US there is a tradition of carrying arms; and ever so often a depressed person goes and shoots a bunch of people. Has your country ever seriously considered changing this tradition?
Every time these horses see a person approaching they know they’re going to experience pain. It’s a wonder someone hasn’t been seriously injured. And I would not blame the horse at all.
They should honestly replace the guards and their horses with life sized statues. Because that's the only way to make this better. I agree with you so much that people are just ignorant. I used to ride along the shoreline of our beach and the tourists would come out with plates of fruit and veggies for our horses. Thinking it was like an attraction.. they'd ask us where we "rented" them from. We always said they're ours and you have to get your own if you want to feed them.
I went to horse camp once and I had my pony Annie and she had ulcers at the time, and she was kind of cranky, a little bit, so she would kind of nibble at people, and we went down her aisle and a little girl tried to pet her. And I said, please, don't pet her. She might bite, and I told both I camp counselor person. She was like, yeah, I get away from the pony, and the kid said well, it didn't bite me, and I was like, well, if she didn't yet, so please don't pet peoples horses if you don't know them.
I really don’t understand why people try a touch a trained War horse, I mean you wouldn’t touch a guard dog. So why a 500kg animal trained to be aggressive.
I hate mounted guards/police with a passion, there's absolutely no reason for it and the animals lives are miserable. Just put them on quads or something if they have to ride something, both safer and cheaper, I will never understand why in this day and age people feel the need to use horses like they're mindless tools. Just have some empathy for fuck's sake...
I visit london a lot and make a habit of telling people who bother the horse guards to back off as politely as possible. It really annoys me how invasive people can be.
It’s so sick that the animals ALWAYS have to end up paying for the ignorance of humans. People are not good people anymore. You cannot have nice things without ignorant people ruining it. There should just be officers there. The horse is doing nothing wrong but having other people disrespect it, but is the one getting hurt. So sad. Stressful for the horses and guards
I guess it's easier for simple minded people to just accuse, misuse, and punish the "lower being" for anything they don't understand. It doesn't require any thought to point blame at a creature who cannot express and explain/defend itself.
It’s so insane to me that people thinks it’s okay to touch a horse they don’t know. And then people will be upset when they get bitten, there’s a sign for a reason lmao. I saw a lady get like swung around by the hair once by one of those horses, I will admit it was very refreshing.
I just wanna correct you on something Raleigh... YES people do in fact go up to strangers' dogs and pet them. Or any animal really.... Some without asking permission, some getting mad if you tell them no... It's crazy.
Whenever I see one of these videos I always wonder how long the horses have to stand like that. 🤔 They can't even pace a little back and forth or put down their heads to grace, but are supposed to just stand there, completely still, with a rider on their back. World's most depressing job for a horse. I wonder if they get stiff and tight in their back, if they get to go out in a big field at the end of the day and get to MOVE.
The horses DO NOT stand there all day with someone on their back. They're 'on guard duty' for ONE HOUR per day. The rest of the time, they are with their horsey pals, either stabled or turned out, being ridden, schooled, rehearsing displays etc. Being 'on guard' is part of their training and there are ground soldiers (skilled horsemen themselves) who will check on a horse's comfort whenever requested or needed. I also need to explain that what is never shown, for obvious reasons, is that many of the horses actually doze off during their hour on duty, and need to be gently and frequently nudged awake by their rider, so they don't startle! About public safety ... a well-trained horse with a competent rider is FAR less of a public danger in a city than is one or more random persons carrying guns!
I feel bad for the horses and the riders, especially that rider who was touched by a literal stranger and was clearly uncomfortable. People are entitled toddlers these days, not realizing there are times where there shouldn't be horsing around, and one of those times is being around a animal that is known to be able to cause injury and has its own feelings including "Yeah keep being annoying and I'm sure to bite you to remind you to leave me alone"
In my experience people don't even respect dogs. All the time strangers come up to my dog and try to touch her cause they think she's cute. I've even had people try to touch her while she's growling at them. Literally had one person tell me that if I'm out walking in a public place, then they should be allowed to touch my dog.
Great to see your response on this. I have no idea why the authorities are not acting. The situation is out of hand. Either put an exclusion zone around the horse or get rid of them altogether. Yanking the horses mouth makes me sick.
There are sign's and barriers around them but people ignore them, it's a common thing. Look at all the death's of people ignoring warning sign's and barriers just for a selfie.
I'm glad you reacted to these videos and share your take. It's frustrating to see people not respect the space of these horses. I'm disappointed in the bits and tack they use considering the Queen was such a horse enthusiast she could have changed some of the rules around how these horses are treated. I'm not holding my breath that King Charles will any thoughts to them.
Even without the inclusion of a horse, tourists will still crowd around the guards and want to take pictures with them because "Oh look! The queen's guards, this will be the only time we'll ever see them!" There have been plenty of instances of people straight up harassing the guards and treat them as if they were exotic animals and not human beings with feelings. I do agree that there should be a law that specifically states to NOT touch or crowd the guards and their horses. Although it should be more heavily enforced for the sake of the horses because they aren't as well equipped to handle these sorts of situations (at least mentally). At least with guards who are human, they are fully aware on what's going on and know how to properly handle these situations while horses don't know why there's a bunch of people crowding them and touching them when they're clearly uncomfortable.
I was hoping the video of the little girl asking the guard for permission to pat the horse would be here :( the guard spoke with the girl and helped her safely pat the horse.
the horses shouldn't be touched like it's fine to take a picture with the horse just stand there and take a picture. don't touch the horse, but I also agree that they shouldn't even use them-like just use robots if ur that desperate to have a horse don't just yank an animals face like that it's just abuse, and before people come at me or Raleigh, culture is NOT. an excuse to harm an animal.
If you would approach and pet a working animal. Expect a negative response. And just LISTEN. These people are obviously no knowledge of horses otherwise they wouldn't be doing this surely
Another great video, Raleigh! I completely agree with everything you have to say in this video. People should know better to not walk up and start touching. Honestly, if you walked up to my horse and started touching her, I will literally spray you with mace (if thats how you spell it) 😂. And I think that it would be so amazing if that's what they did. But, of course you know they would get in trouble and stuff.
@just nix Yeah, I would. Especially to protect her from a dog attack which has almost happened. I am not afraid to stab something or spray it with bear spray to save my horses life or from her getting hurt. Believe what you want, I know I'm a good horse owner. You on the other hand probably not, I'm guessing you are one of those people that would just sit on the horse while it's being attacked without trying to help. What an embarrassment to the equestrian community that you would call somebody a bad horse person when they are just trying to protect the things they love. Also, I never said that I would spray the mace while being on her, how do you know I wouldn't get off. Also, learn to take a joke. 🙄😒
@@EmmaVeelle you said "if you walked up to my horse and started touching her I would spray you with mace " which would put your horse in danger of being sprayed and implies it being a person not a dog attack
@just nix Yeah, that is something called "a joke". You probably have no idea what that is, so I encourage you to go look it up if you want, or don't, I couldn't really care less. But if it was some sort of threat like a dog attack, I will use bear spray or get off and try to punch the dog or stab it (only if it's being aggressive of course) and you can't stop me. Bye.
Can you imagine if someone walked up to a sniffer dog at the airport and started playing with it. 🙄 I agree, though, no real reason to have them and definitely no reason to let tourists approach that close in the 1st place.
People are sooo ignorant about horses. I saw one of these videos where the horse refused to go out there and stand. It was so bad that they had to replace him with another horse. Don’t blame the horses for reacting to all these stupid humans. Great video. ♥️🐴👍
The fact that the "guards" don't say anything until the people are already invading their space and touching them, at which point they start bellowing unintelligibly, is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. That part of the "tradition" is not worth it and just humiliates the guards and makes them into a joke. What the actual fuck is the point?
Omg I love u and Link♡ U really are the black sheep in this community but u are my favorite honesty. I was wondering what breed cross exactly is Link and how old is Brailey?♡
Imagine going up to any other equestrian on horseback and grabbing their horse's reins. They really treat these people and their horses like objects.
Fr Billy got spooked and bolted
In this case - my horse bite.
Drives me insane, absolutely no excuse for it.
@lynhowe4158 That is ridiculous. I’m sorry you had to put up with that. 😔
I feel like people need to know horse etiquette in general. But that's coming from someone that grew up with them and respecting them.
Hell, if the people are getting that close, I really don't have a problem.

This is honestly one of my biggest fears! I don't want someone's bad energy transferred to my baby because they ran up and started touching my belly.

@@piaogilvie8463 WTF !!!! Whats IS WRONNNNG with people !!! 😆
Just as the King's Guard are actual elite soldiers, their horses are actual trained warhorses, and they know their job includes keeping people in line. How do horses keep people in line? Same way they keep other horses, cows, sheep, and dogs in line. Turning, shoving, biting, and kicking. So while for most horses, aggression of any sort is huge problem, this warhorse is being a good boy and doing his job :)
There are signs posted telling people not to stay behind the barriers, to not touch the guards or the horses and to give the guards space.

@@Dusty_toast I think in every video we have seen; the horses were actively doing something to communicate their annoyance.
@@Dusty_toast full offense there's no way you're actually that stupid
They should whip the people not the horses. Or train the horses to bite the dumb tourists
@@lumini3172 Personally I choose to not use bits with my own horses. But even for people who do, the bits used in these videos are incredibly harsh and downright nasty. I completely agree with you. Poor horses indeed… really very sad…
@@countchocula5379
I totally get not using bits.
Some horses are a bit bitey, some don't mind the attention, some seen to quite like it when it's the children who come up to them.
In Sweden, I'm pretty sure the guards can even shoot you. They likely won't, but they're allowed to do it if they warn you and you don't move back. They are real guards.
by by by by no no no❤ hi❤❤😢😊
Went to see these guys a few years back with my then 7 year old daughter.
She was desperate to pet the horse, I stopped her explaining that the horse was a working animal, like guide dogs. (She knew about blind people and the dogs) A woman behind me heard what I said, walked past and said "it's ok, it's why they're here!" Horse wasn't pleased by someone rushing up to it and headbutted her square in the face. Guardsman wasn't best pleased either. Animal education is so important! Thanks for the video, keep up the good work.
Well, that woman got her Karma! 😂
Thank You for your respect and teaching your Daughter the same. 😍 From a life-long horse and dog owner xx

@@ML.0001 And other jobs aren't? Get over yourself
Theres literaly a diggn rigth bu by the guards telelinse them them not to to the reins. 🤦♀️
Wow!! unbelievable!
@@Anubis30224 wow that is so crazy!!! Some people might have to learn the hard way!
Wow. You should have asked if you were allowed to touch their child without asking. ;) Jokes aside, people are inconsiderate a-holes sometimes.

My grandma used to say "Look with your eyes Not with your hands" guess they stopped teaching people that.
I cannot comprehend why people think they can touch everything with zero permission. I’m autistic and I literally stopped coloring my hair because people would randomly touch my hair! I also see people go up to service dogs and pet them without permission all the time.
I can't believe strangers would touch other people without asking. That's like a toddler level behavior. Not boundaries whatsoever.
A lot of the children are more respectful than the majority of the adults.
As an equestrian from the uk I totally agree with what you said about it being out dated and the bits they use are awful 😊
Edit: the saddles are made from WOOD some horses get sores on their backs and sides 😢
I have heard of people stupid enough to get in a cage with a wild animal. They didn't live to be sorry.
At least a human knows what the job entails. The horse doesn't really have a choice.
I commented on this saying how irresponsible this was and got so many comments saying it’s not! 🤦♀️ drives me mad!
Thank you for attending my TED talk x
there’s a lot of videos of the horses ACTUALLY biting the people, I’d love to see you react to some of those!

Those bits they are wearing are of themselves cruel and should never be inflicted on a horse.
Have you seen the man trying to ride a horse that he buyer off craigslist from Austin to Washington in 100 days….. the horse is skin and bones at the moment he is called: 2raw2ride

These people are crazy trying to touch these horse. 😮
Why are tourists even allowed to get that close. It’s stupid and uncalled for.
(Again I wanna say I do think the touching should not be allowed, period.)
But my question is this: if it wasn't for the touching, would you still have an issue with this? Do you think this is something that could be done in a way you would be satisfied over the horse's care, or would you abolish it completely and feel like there is no redeeming or possibility of this being positive?
Why would that lady stick her hand in the horses mouth that was dumb 💀
As a British person, I agree that they shouldn't have the horses standing there any more. They're purely decorative and a living tourist attraction, and the number of tourists hanging around is just too much for them these days. I also get the sense, from some of the clips that I've seen, that it's becoming a thing to touch the reins and get shouted at by the soldier. If they have to have the horses there, at least put some sort of barrier around them so people can't get to them.
I agree ! I went to London with school and I didn’t get to see the horses because it was raining.
Typical British weather 🤷🏼♀️
Finally! Much needed video and you did it so well hats off to you. Also the Matching outfit with headphones 💋
#1 rule for Morons around horses
DONT STICK YOUR FINGERS IN A HORSES MOUTH!!!
I can't make it to the Premiere today.... So sorry Raleigh I am going to watch this video the second I get a chance!
Obviously if it keeps happening, it’s a problem that needs to be addressed!
Personally I'm not a fan of what they put the guards, and horses through. No person or horse should have this job!!!!😢
It's crazy.
It's like touching a person's purse strap for a photo. Think of it that way. It would spook you too. "GET OFF THE PURSE STRAPS!"
Well as she said they rotate the horse so they don't stand for Too long
1 hour
They can’t act like normal. They have a buzzer that alerts the army vets, officers and etc to check on them and the horses.
Still, that yelling and pulling the reins is most stressful for the horse. And it must be for the guard, too, telling every second person to piss off.
The fact these guys are trying to do their job, and the horses being caused pain because of both the guard and tourists.
Harm an Animal? the guards? These horses get better care than a lot of People.
9:37 _"when you grab the reins, you take control of the horse!"_
Well THAT sounds like a safety hazard
If you would approach and pet a working animal. Expect a negative response. And just LISTEN. These people are obviously no knowledge of horses otherwise they wouldn't be doing this surely
Have
“All horses spook”
War horses: 👁️ 👄 👁️
Another great video, Raleigh! I completely agree with everything you have to say in this video. People should know better to not walk up and start touching. Honestly, if you walked up to my horse and started touching her, I will literally spray you with mace (if thats how you spell it) 😂. And I think that it would be so amazing if that's what they did. But, of course you know they would get in trouble and stuff.
You would be willing to spray mace while on your horse 😮 not a good horse person
Bye.
I can't believe they allow this to continue. These guards are working. It's very disrespectful to torment the guards and horses🤨
Can you imagine if someone walked up to a sniffer dog at the airport and started playing with it. 🙄 I agree, though, no real reason to have them and definitely no reason to let tourists approach that close in the 1st place.
i dont get why people think its ok to act like the guards are objects and not real people
People are sooo ignorant about horses. I saw one of these videos where the horse refused to go out there and stand. It was so bad that they had to replace him with another horse. Don’t blame the horses for reacting to all these stupid humans. Great video. ♥️🐴👍
They don’t blame the horse trust me. It’s a matter of public safety.
Omg I love u and Link♡
U really are the black sheep in this community but u are my favorite honesty. I was wondering what breed cross exactly is Link and how old is Brailey?♡
