Bridge Commander. Probably one of the best Star Trek games I've ever played. Really felt like the captain on the chair. I remember they had plans for an expansion AND a sequel, but of course, Activision, the evil publishers they are, shut it all down.
BC, KA and BoTF are the quintessential Star Trek games, with Armada following in close pursuit
Yes, we love that game here!
@@MarvinWestmaas Star Trek Legacy modded is amazing too
Always love when you guys feature retro stuff.
Always appreciate the support!
Always love to see a Freelancer shoutout. Probably my favourite game. Discovery is also my preferred option for multiplayer.
Damn the operation flashpoint music at 2:20 hits hard
Always love me a Retro vid!
The nostalgia trip here is exquisite. Nice recommendations.
Thank you mate!
Great trip down memory lane 🎉
I remember dragging my PC to its knees with some insane Civ4 games.
Not enough people out there highlighting the absolutely incredible selection of Civ 4 mods out there, many of which are still in active developments. One of my biggest disappointments in gaming is how Civ 5 and 6 basically dropped mod support for all intents and purposes beyond for the most part very simplistic UI and faction mods.
Civ 4 is almost a forgotten gem at this point, full agree! The mods are immense! - Tom
I recall a mod, not Ryse and Fall, but one where it takes you to -4,000+ BC to the hyper future.
Literally, it was a mod meant to take years. I spent three weeks on it. That Civ4 mod was the mod to end all mods.
The dedication and effort modders put into to making the games they love as near to perfect as humanly possible never ceases to amaze and impressive me.
Thank you for this review… very detailed and full of knowledge 🐸❤️✅
Glad it was helpful!
Great list! Seeing SWAT4 took me by surprise, it brings back nice memories, thanks! :)
Glad you enjoyed it! - Tom
Morrowind in 2024 is absolutely amazing.
Played it once on my best friend’s Xbox back in the day. He was super into it at the time. Never got anywhere really, so very little nostalgia. However, after playing Oblivion and Skyrim numerous times, I wound up trying out Morrowind a year ago. I played vanilla (with expansions) with OpenMW and was hooked.
I think it is now among my favorite games of all time. I generally play fairly vanilla (graphics are fine enough) but Tamriel Rebuilt is amazing.
I am surprised that Doom isn’t on the list. That, historically, has been one of the most vibrant, active, and creative mod and mapping scenes online for 30 years. They are still churning out complete map mods that well exceed the originals in quality and complexity and the total conversion and gameplay mods are absolutely awe inspiring.
Thanks for the suggestion mate, I have already had so many suggestions I will have to make a part 2 after checking these modding scenes out more! - Tom
If I find great mods for one of my retro games, I always play through it first, in its original form, then play it again with the mods! Although I do get annoyed by how many mods make the game much harder, sometimes I don't download a mod because of that, even though the mod has another 8 features I would like to have in my game!
Yes, the pain of mod difficulty increases, true for quite a few on this list 😅 - Tom
Great video!
Cheers mate! - Tom
What is the legacy mod for Bridge Commander? I hadn't heard of it before.
A newer mod released not so long ago. We made a video on it here : ua-cam.com/video/iriomJuQmcM/v-deo.html - Tom
@@LTGamingUA-cam thanks! I'll look into it!
The world needs more good Star Trek games!
I would have loved a mention of Freespace 2, the modding community is alive and still working on new campaigns and what not :)
And it's an equally good game, but that's just my personal take ;)
Can't fault any of the games on the list tho!
Would love for FS2 Series Resurrecta to get a shout-out on the channel, it's a great experience imho ... epic considering how long it was 'in the works' ;)
I had forgotten about Freespace series tbh, totally slipped my mind, one for the next list :) - Tom
@@LTGamingUA-cam I would love a playthrough and deep dive into fs lore.
I've never felt so small in a game, so insignificant when those capital ships go at eachother.. right to the moment the whole battle resolves on my interception of an enemy bomber squad 😁
Great List. Wanted to add a shout-out to the Empire At War (2008) modding gaming community.
EaW mod play-thoughs are often showcased by the XPGamers. Currently running the "Awakening of the Empire" mod (one of at least four awesome total conversion mods). Current sample starts here:

Total war Rome/medieval2 is missing on this list imho
i never heard of any of these games
Then you must have lived under a rock mate 😅 - Tom
