- My first video of York minster ringing and Chiming. I didn’t video the Carolyn bells yesterday which was Christmas Day which played Oh come’ Ye Faithful’ but recorded Great Peter strike 5 times, which this night is Boxing Day. Enjoy this as I do. The Minster looks beautiful lit up.
It does, especially in the nighttime 🙂
Fun fact: The quarter chime is actually going not from the bells for change ringing, there are some bells in the bell chamber where Great Peter bell hangs, and the biggest of these quarter bells sounds exactly like the tenor. The same goes for another quarter bells.
If you want to find that out then you might want to ask the cathedral staff about it and they’ll tell you all about it

Can you show us the York minster chimes inside the belfry where great Peter is?
I’m sorry to say this but I’m not allowed to enter the belfry without permission from the York Minster staff plus, it would be too loud in there and I could end up with blood coming out of my ears and I would end up being deaf and I wouldn’t be able to hear people or things at all 😕

Craip that bell is loud. I wonder how neighbours around the minster sleep. 😳 And did the bell strike 24/7? Cause i know countries where the bell doesn't strike between 22:00 and 07:00

Big Ben is turned off because it’s under major repairs since so many years when it wasn’t, I can’t do it in this moment in time so just be patient please 🙂

York minster London is great Peter bell🔔
Half true, thing is York is halfway north from London (capital of England) and halfway south from Edinburgh (capital of Scotland). There is history about it in a railway history video that another UA-camr made and uploaded I think a few years ago!
@@jamesfallon2700 Ive been to London and York, they're quite a journey from Manchester, 2hrs to York and 4hrs to London! They must be nowhere near eachother 🙂
