My EC 1000 has Semour Duncan pick ups . I played a number of Les Pauls, just didn't sound as good to me. Most EC1000 tested on UA-cam have EMP pick ups which I didn't like. They sounded too hard metal for my taste. Keep in mind I have a 1969 Gibson SG so not hating Gibson, just revealing what I thought when buying mine.
Glad to hear u find your EC 1000 sounding the best. Like I've said before ; I was hoping the EC 1000 would come out tops as it was a better built guitar. However the Tribute ended up sounding better. I suspect it's the thin paint n lack of clear coat that gave it its tone. A similar outcome happen when I tested out 3 Fender Stratocasters with the Texas special..America SRV signature, A Japanese 62 reissue n a Mexican Roadworn. All with alder body.. N it ended up with the cheaper Mexican sounding the best ..it too had a thinly coated paint on the body. So I suspect it's the poly urethane finish that robs the guitar of its tone.
@@ariffjohanismusic5577 Gibson uses 300k pots and ESP most likely puts 500k pots in since that's standard for humbuckers. 300k pots is part of Gibson's magic.
If a LTD able to stand to compare with a Gibson, surely E-II will smoke Gibson! Didn’t even have to mention the real ESP USA! And surely ESP JAPAN will make Gibson like a joke...! 👍😎
@@ariffjohanismusic5577 you're right, I just double-checked the specs on this model and Gibson says it uses 500k pots. Weird they sound so different, but not the first time. The Duncan 59/JB set sounds great in any Charvel but like crap in my Ibanez. More proof wood makes a difference. I remember a UA-camr made a little jig so he could swap bodies on a homemade guitar to prove wood made no difference in tone...and the result was the different bodies sounded different, so he was wrong even though he himself didn't hear it for some reason and uploaded the video like he just proved his point, LOL.

Good comparison! I like the looks of the LTD more, but I prefer the sound of the Gibson.
I felt the same way too especially when the LTD was the better built out of the two.. but in the end Gibson sounded better

Very good test! ESP wins for the money. Could use a few more upgrades.
arent they the same price?
it seems like gibson has warmer tone and esp brighter
U put a 500k pot with slash pickups. Slash pickups r overwound and hotter. Thats why the gibson sounds better. Its cuz of the 300k pots in the gibson
esp sounds awesome. might as well be an acoustic. im gonna have to check that out for myself
I dont get why the gibson sounds so much nicer and tighter. Is it the nut? The headstock break angle? The maple cap? Wtf is it!?!
I reckon it could be the finish on the body n neck... the Les Paul has the real thin paint n lacquer where the EC has a thick poly paint job...
so which guitar would you prefer?
I really wanted to like the ESP LTD as it was better built n had nicer hardware but the Gibson sounded better
@@ariffjohanismusic5577 worth to buy old studio and upgrade it :))
Definitely!
No suena peor la ltd ,lo que pasa es que la tocaste peor ..
Como nos engaña la mente jajajaja
Estas en lo correcto mi amigo. ¡Creo que nadie lo ha descubierto todavía! jajaja
I need a de-Yaser

The build quality of the LTD was way better than the Gibson tribute..so I wouldn't be suprised if the ESP is better than the higher end Gibsons!

really?? so I can add 300k pots to my Ltd esp ec-1000 and it will sound like the gibson les paul??
@@horacechaplin3504 300k pots if u putting slash pickups. 500k pots if u putting some low output pickups like 57 classics
Hi Johnny..both guitars had 500k pots in them. My apologies if I had failed to mentioned this.

are you saying the body shape made a difference? or the type of wood did make a difference?
Emg 81/60. Guy do your research
My bad! Thanks for pointing that out sir !
No dirty weight relief on the ESP, Fucking weight relief on the Gisbon. Kill weight relief, it's an horror !
