My son has been playing for a year just bought him this for Xmas as a surprise gift…it has a P90 pick up in and he loves it…his main one is a epiphone coronet
I highly prefer the ltd to the Gibson as far as the guitar itself goes. But esp designed pickups are thin and lifeless. I replaced mine with a cheap set of hot alnico 5 pickups from guitar madness and they sound outstanding. I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on pickups.
Is it possible to put a mini strat neck and put it onto a regular size strat body? Thank you
Yes, but why would you want to? Is your goal to shorten the scale length? There are some other things to consider, that might be better. Have you played a mini? Maybe you'll like the slightly smaller body? It's minimal. There's also a Squier strat available in 24" scale length. I put a full size neck on a mini body and I love it! Back to the small neck on a full size: you'll likely want heavier strings for tuning stability and tone.
Thank you for the tip :-) Also, I love that strat color with the white plastic and maple neck!
Bought a 2017 black one today for $70. Your video helped a lot. Came with improved tuners. Needs heavier strings. It does fall out of tune but stretching strings and breaking strings in should help. My Express Les Paul is my test guitar to a full size Les Paul or very good clone in 2025. Your video helped me on my decision. Thanks a bunch.
I have the Swede Dark King
Very nice .Ive got a deluxe {2 pick up] version on order .I understand their qc is better nowadays so fingers crossed .I plan to change the tuners to a locking but as you say pick ups are great and wont be swapping them out .I think if you tie the strap to the headstock like you see on some acoustics will improve the handling .

AL FATIHAH KPD KEDUA DUA...KARIM DAN ZZI
Play GNR please
Just got one....not push pull, single coil, etc. but you can always modify it. The sustain on mine is amazing...I don't like binding on the frets which is what a good LP has - that's the only thing I don't like about it...the weight of mine is 7.7 llbs too which is amazing!!!! The finish though is 2nd to none - for the price is can spar with a custom shop any day.
Maaf pak izin bertanya apa itu gitar original yamaha soalnya bride nya ada 2 titik untuk baut soalnya punya saya seperti itu juga kata penjualny ORI keluaran lama
How did you fix the neck dive problem??
Im a full on beginner, do you think this will work for me
Did you make any adjustments to the truss rod? My neck will be detached from the body for 2-3 days, I want to know if the truss rod will be a problem or not
There's no reason to make any adjustments to the truss rod. The effects of removing the neck from the body to the truss rod would be the same as loosening the tensions of all the strings of the guitar. The neck would most probably straighten from the lack of tension n will bow back once u fit it back on. U might hv tuning issues as the neck slowly moves back to its original bow position but it'll soon be ok once the neck settles
Great mod. I think the stock pickup is okay, but I would replace it with an F-Spaced DiMarzio Norton DP-160 or a Seymour Duncan Custom SH-6 in Trembucker spacing.
I have a Japanese squier strat that I have had since new that must have been made in 93 (serial number beginning with P = 93/94) and it really is such a nice well made guitar with great resonance and it has a humbucker bridge pickup. Such a contrast to my Chinese made shorty. It has a few little dents on the body and neck from me being careless with it over the years but I like that because it's unique and worn in by me. The pickups are rather yellowed from years of hashish smoke, which I rather like too. I know there is a trend for people to buy an electric guitar and make it look old and worn, but mine has authentic wear and discolouring. I wish my shorty had been good quality from new like my jap squier strat. But with all the work I'm doing on it, it will be good quality. I have thought about making a new body for the shorty out of a big piece of oak, but I am not confident enough to cut the bit where the neck connects to the body. I have had thoughts of cutting most of the body away and making a new (bigger) body to slot on to the remaining bit of body that the neck attaches to also but again I don't really have so much confidence in my woodworking skills to make that fit snugly. A heavier wood chosen for the body should help immensely with the neck dive issue. Who knows... I know Brian May and his father made Brian's red electric guitar from old wood, and that thing is pretty impressive.
For the tone potentiometer you could experiment with different values of capacitors to find one that gives you the ideal range of tones.
The bridge parts whilst looking quite nice are machined with incorrect measurements and to the tailpiece does not slot in snug to the studs, there is a big gap and so the bridge tilts forward. The tuners also whilst looking quite nicely finished, the tuner pegs which the strings wrap around wobble really bad. Terrible machining for those parts. I've recently put a gotoh bridge (Gotoh 510UB Wrap Around Bridge Tailpiece) on my Chinese hofner shorty which is so much better although the gotoh studs that slot into the guitar body are a little too small. I need to make dowels to fill the stud holes and re-drill the holes to fit the gotoh studs. I also replaced the tuners with gotoh tuners (Gotoh SG381 Tuners) which are great with no wobble at all to the tuner pegs. But after all that I was still getting string buzz from the bass E string and so had to adjust the truss rod so that there is now a fair bit of bow to the neck but the string no longer buzzes. So my next course of action is to take the horn nut off of it (which is listed as being bone for some reason, and horn is not bone at all unlike antler). It seems the problem with the string buzz is down to the nut being cut too low for the bass E string. I got a natural bone nut to replace it through the post a couple of days ago that I may have to file down a little to fit perfectly but is for les paul/sg. I'm waiting for guitar feeler gauges through the post before I start work on the nut so that I can work out any filing I might have to do to get it perfect. I am determined to make it into a good guitar. But it should have been a good guitar when I bought it. They are a good project guitar I think. I have another Chinese hofner shorty that I bought cheap before this one, that has a dent in the body, and I plan to take the pickup out of it, maybe remove some of the windings depending on what the resistance reads on a multimeter and then put it on the better shorty so that it has two pickups. I also plan on wiring it with a 5 way switch (stratocaster switch) so that I can have the normal 3 settings but also have a setting where the pickups are out of phase. I also have a nice thick sheet of pick guard material to make a larger pick guard for it. The extra pickup, switch and tone control should add some good weight to it to stop the terrible neck dive of the guitar. If it's not enough to stop the neck dive, I will drill into the body from underneath the pick guard and pour molton lead into hole/s. I have already spent out the money now so I am determined to make it into a good guitar. Another option for more weight may be to add a small amplifier and a speaker to the guitar body somehow, which would be cool and I know they the old German shorty's could be bought with an inbuilt amplifier and speaker. If you want a decent Hofner shorty that you don't have to upgrade etc, I wouldn't recommend buying one of these Chinese built ones but rather buy an old German made shorty. The body and neck of these Chinese shorty's are quite nicely finished and the pickups, volume and tone controls are fine in my opinion. So my experience was the bridge and tuners that come with them are awful, and the nut was awful on mine. And of course there is terrible neck dive. I do not understand why the factory that makes the bridges and tuners go to all the effort of making those parts, when the machining measurements are so bad. It makes no sense to me at all. They could use the correct measurements and they would be great, and despite the measurements being so bad they are quite nicely finished (they look good but fit together terribly)
Intro was a 339 but you had it captioned as 335. Great sound demo but be careful with labeling the wrong instrument.
Very good comparative review. Thank you.
I put some ernie ball 09's on my hofner shorty and it already sounds so much better than whatever super light strings were on it from the factory (they were just far too light gauge for it to be any good for chords or staying in tune). Iv'e ordered a gotoh bridge/tailpiece and gotoh tuning machines which cost more than I paid for the guitar lol. The machining quality of both the bridge and the tuning machines is terrible, with the tuner pegs being really wobbly and the bridge bolts not being the right size and the bridge itself being too thin for the pegs thing that holds it on. It's a pretty decent quality guitar but the tuning machines and bridge are really crap. Why did they bother making those parts with such inaccurate measurements? Maybe old worn out machinery or something? The finish quality of those parts seems really good, but they just do not fit their corresponding parts lol
Does the GL1 have a truss rod? Thank you.
I'm thiniing deudenberg les trem II on the Epiphine 339.
I would've thought baby oil would've made your calluses more vulnerable
Both guitars have there places, the standard is darker sound and the supreme sounds amazing also but thinner and brighter iny opinion. Both beautiful guitars.
What a fantastic idea! I actually have an extra Epiphone Tune-O-Matic Bridge and Tailpiece that I can use in my Hofner. The extra weight might also help with the problematic neck dive of this little guitar. I'm going to do it!
Just send he defective guitar back?
Play your acoustic every day use it for practice sessions and have it fitted with at least 0012-0054 gauge strings. If you just play electric your callouses will soften and you'll end up with girl's hands.
Man you've got a certain taste for girls if that's true, not to judge or anything
why im here? cuz i remove the callus on my little finger (which was satisfying) and now i have to play guitar but it hurts *regret
just give me my Black SG Gibson of Honor as it was always meant to be from the very beginning Not saying i do not have appreciation also for a badass Black LTD SG
ESP destroys Gibson
But, Gibson is the OG and the other is a copy. I say that as someone who owns and loves both.
nice
I use mine straight to blackstar fly 3 and it sounds "ehhh" on B and G strings first 3-4 fret. Could you suggest any pedal to have that kind of clean sound?
My neck pickup for this guitar sounds more loud than bridge pickup.. is it normal or does pickups require any modifications??
Ty
I have a SERIOUS question everyone. Iv played and practiced till I have developed some good calluses on my finger tips. But the problem is "NOW" That the tips are flat and cant get a good grip on the strings when bending. They slip through. What's going ON. what am I doing wrong or not understanding.
Yo same! I never had a problem before
I would take a break and get them to soften a bit and then start trying to get grooves by pressing your fingers down on the low e string often until your fingers become rough again.
this comment was a year ago so i hope you got your shits already if not... play harder.
Thanks for this. Was trying to decide between 335 and 339. Heard the difference.
Which one did you choose? I’m trying to decide between the two
@@christianbroussard9072 I have not bought one yet, but planning to do so. I've listened to soooo many reviews of both and they are very close, but I hear a small bit more of that woody hollowbody from the 335. That's a shame because I like the sleekness of the 339 and I've see several great deals on the 339 Black Royale, which is just the sexiest model to me. So, bottom line: I'm looking for a great deal on a nice 335.
The sounds are so similar. If you listen in a vacuum (back to back) then you can fixate on the differences. But honestly if you're just playing each on their own, and assuming you like either one, you'll be just as happy with either. I'd pick the one that you like looking at, or which one you got the best deal on. I took the 339 because I liked the size, color, and deal I got. My buddy has a 335, and unless I play back to back with him you would be hard pressed to tell which guitar I'm playing by simply listening to a recording. You have to take amps and effects into account as well.
ESP
If you are going to demonstrate a guitar please don’t use tons of processing. Any guitar can sound like that even a cheap one through all that processing.
What is the price of this guitar ?
I have problem with the nut, is very tall, needs work or something, in 1st freet is very tall, it losses intonation, example f note in 1st freet , did you have to work on this?
I think the qualities in the americans guitar are so much better that the Mexicans especially the vintage 😅
Made in China in an inhouse in Hagström factory according to Hagstrom. They have Said that they are setting up operations in South Korea
Its not True. You can see a strat on the background in this clip
Disregard if you're classical guitar. No calluses allowed.
Why
Supreme without doubt!
To continue my comments: I bought the same guitar for $129. on Amazon Swapped out the pups to a 59 retro vintage alnico 2 set. Put Grover vintage LP tuners (the green knobs) and swapped the black knobs, pu rings and switch to vintage cream color. Had it set up with super lights. 08 Billy Gibbons signature strings. The guitar now is a keeper. Cost of the mods: $80. PU, $80. Grocers, cream hardware $20. Total cost including guitar plus pro setup was $350. Now plays like a $1000. instrument. Would upload a video but my amp just broke, still searching for a new one. I call the guitar a "Billyphone"
I just got my Eclipse (The EC-1000) which comes with the Seymour Duncan pickups) and it's amazing. I wanted a Les Paul for a while but they are worth less than what Gibson overcharges for.
Nice..I love my EC1000 too. Great build quality n I really loved how it plays. I changed the pickups with Slash alnicos on mine n did a sound comparison with a Gibson tribute with similar pickups ..ua-cam.com/video/ADO6mSMNLGs/v-deo.html .
What finish is this? Of the LP?
Hi Yozhk..its a Quilted Honey burst on a lacquer nitro finish..the quilt is kinda messy n not very uniformed like how they normally r..so they don't come out in pictures/videos very well
Standard sounds best here but I still love the supreme! I own 2 Gibson standards and a custom, tribute and a Junior. Supreme is next
