Years ago I was sitting on the lawn in the back yard with my brother (Jim) and my guitar. I played a while, and then my brother asked if he could play a song. I was surprised because I’ve never seen him play, and as far as I knew he didn’t know how to. I was surprised, but I handed him the guitar, and he started strumming. It was pretty tight...and I saw he had been playing somewhat! Then he began to sing, and the song was “Ramona”. As he sang and played it, I was silenced mostly because I’ve never heard my brother do this in my life...I was 26 and he was 27. At that point I’d never heard the song before...I even thought he made it up! It was so cool to see him play! From that moment on, I would always remember that song as “his”, (ours). I loved my brother a lot. He was a great guy...a decent young man, always did the right thing. I was lucky to know him. He died later that year...in June. It devastated our family...it was a big loss. Today (October 7th) is his birthday, that’s why I’m listening to this. I’ll always remember this song as “his”. Thanks Bob Dylan! Thanks Jim.

This is amazing! How came IT, that you never saw him learning guitar?

We miss them all the time. I wish I could hug my daddy every day. But death is also a blessing. They’re always with us. Always. And our ability to understand the human condition is deeper than those that haven’t had an intimate dance with death like we have. Missing them in the physical will never not hurt but them showing us the power of death is the biggest blessing we could experience if we can see it that way. Idk you but I love you 💞 hes with you now. Talk to him whenever you want

I walked into my older brother's house one day in early 63. He wasn't home but I found the Peter Paul and Mary album waiting on the turntable. I put it on and I was blown away by two songs. Later that day I owned Freewhelin' and a couple weeks later Times. 54 years later Blowin' in the wind still bring tears to my eyes.

Anyone who bought his records from the very beginning knew , when they played the first cut , that they would want to come back for more . He is a singing poet . Most poets read . Of course he deserves the Nobel prize for literature . Does he want it ?
That's another question altogether . Bob is not very big on public recognition . He just wants to do what he wants to do. I say Bob has more than a hundred times paid his dues . I am ever so thankful that he has been a part of my life for over 50 big ones . Peter

    Ramona, come closer
    Shut softly your watery eyes
    The pangs of your sadness
Will pass as your senses will rise
    The flowers of the city
Though breathlike, get deathlike at times
And there's no use in tryin'
    To deal with the dyin'
Though I cannot explain that in lines.
    Your cracked country lips
    I still wish to kiss
As to be by the strength of you skin
    Your magnetic movements
Still capture the minutes I'm in
But it grieves my heart, love
To see you tryin' to be a part of
A world that just don't existv It's all just a dream, babe
    A vacuum, a scheme, babe
That sucks you into feelin' like this.
I can see that your head
    Has been twisted and fed
With worthless foam from the mouth
I can tell you are torn
    Between stayin' and returnin'
    Back to the South
    You've been fooled into thinking
That the finishin' end is at hand
Yet there's no one to beat you
    No one to defeat you
'Cept the thoughts of yourself feeling bad
I've heard you say many times
That you're better 'n no one
And no one is better 'n you
    If you really believe that
    You know you have
Nothing to win and nothing to lose
From fixtures and forces and friends
    Your sorrow does stem
That hype you and type you
    Making you feel
That you gotta be just like them.
    I'd forever talk to you
    But soon my words
They would turn into a meaningless ring
    For deep in my heart
I know there is no help I can bring
    Everything passes
    Everything changes
Just do what you think you should do
    And someday, maybe
    Who knows, baby
I'll come and be cryin' to you.
