    you can charge to 100 % every time with no problems at all. No harm to the battery as the system is operating with a “buffer” for this exact purpose ;)

      Correct, Ford has a 98kWh battery but you only have 88 kWh availability, so charge away!

    I had a bolt and even it was very quick and a blast to drive. Now I have a Model 3 Long Range and it's pretty crazy. I'll never go back to a gas powered vehicle.

    Charging your Mach-e to 100% does NOT harm the battery because Ford reserves several kilowatt hours in the battery pack which are never charged and used to prolong the life of the unit. You have access to 91 kw/hrs of the 100 kw/hr pack in the extended range version. So what you’re saying would be true if you have access to charge the entire battery but since the computer restricts this already, charging to 100% is what you should be doing.

    • @ShealeysGarage
      @ShealeysGarage  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the clarification on the available kw/hrs available for charging versus total capacity of the pack. You definitely educated me on this matter. I’m glad Ford thought this through prior to release of the vehicle to avoid customers having to take “precautionary actions” to avoid affecting the health of the battery. Thanks again for taking the time to type your reply.

    Fords Blue Oval charging network is the largest in North America..The car will show you where the charge stations are..Great for long road trips..

    Nice details about the car. I test drove one back in August, but ultimately purchased another GT.
    I am curious, I believe you said it was only $200 or so, to install the outlet in your garage. That is cheap. When I checked for mine, (Kennesaw, GA), it was going to be $700+ (plenty of space in my electrical panel). Additionally, did you setup a plan with the electrical company? Cobb Electric offer a plan, where if charging after 21:00 and before 06:00, the rate is much cheaper...

    • @jkirk99
      @jkirk99 2 роки тому

      i know georgia power has kw rates at 1cent after 11pm but before 7am and 7 cent all other times except the most demanding months. i plan to switch to thay when i get my mach e. and if still available get a 200 dollar rebate on equipment for charging. i am afraid i will not get that done in time tho.

    • @ShealeysGarage
      @ShealeysGarage  2 роки тому +3

      Yeah the electrician that installed ours was a local guy, and he said the reason why it was so cheap is because we had it installed about two feet below the circuit breaker panel. The farther the 220 outlet is installed from your breaker panel (ie the opposing wall, etc) the more expensive the cost.
      And we did try calling our electric company, Coastal Electric who we go through here but they told us to check back at a later date because they didn’t have the specialized meter that accounts for EV charging. 🤔 But that was also about 6 months ago last we checked….so thanks for the reminder to re-engage with them about it haha.

    What’s your battery pack the 211 or the 270?
    I’m saying because I think you said it was the small battery and then you said with 85% or something like that you were getting 240

    • @ShealeysGarage
      @ShealeysGarage  2 роки тому +1

      The two different batteries offered in the 2021 Mustang Mach-E are the 68KW and 88KW batteries. (Standard and extended range). Currently on Fords website they state that the range with the standard range battery (68KW) is only 247 miles. But as the video shows…I’m at a 90% charge at the start of the video with a range of 244 miles.
      Currently on Fords website they state that the 88KW extended range battery has a range of 303 miles. As stated in the video, underpromises to ensure their customers are happy.

      I’ve never personally ridden in a Tesla, so I don’t want to give you any false info. I’ll try to link in with someone with a Tesla and do a comparison video. But I will say out of all the vehicles I’ve driven in personally, the Mach-E has the least amount of cabin noise. My Supra….well it’s a Supra 😂 and the truck is a conventional V8 with an exhaust.

      Performance wise, there’s very few stock production cars that are faster than the Tesla Plaid. However, if you are referring to the aesthetics of the vehicle…I feel the Mach-E is the clear winner.

    • @bytemark6508
      @bytemark6508 2 роки тому +1

      LOL.. I'm not sure if you were joking, but I guess I should explain what I laughed. There is no such thing as a "Tesla killer". This is a term coined by people who were atacking the idea of electric cars in general, and Tesla in particular, either because they had a vested interest in oil industry or simply for lack of understand how technology works.
      In short, Tesla will happily coexist will all the other brands in the future, because the market for electric cars is getting bigger and bigger every year. The idea behind the "killer" was that the very small percentage of people interested in buying an electric car will have a clear choice between one car or the other, leaving the "loser" brand with cars on the lot, but the reality is that the demand for electric cars far surpasses the Tesla's production (who, by the way is selling with several quarters ahead) and the potential clients are getting whatever they can get their hands on. Even the used market is up, and if last year I could have bought a Nissan Leaf 1st gen for under 5k, now the price is more like double.
      As long as the companies are making compelling electric cars with a decent range and performance, they will sell the product. Just go to a decent size city, stay at a corner with fairly good traffic and count the electric cars passing by. Besides the inevitable Tesla cars, you could see the Mach-e, Ioniqs, KonaEV, e-Niro, Leafs, ID4s, and their numbers are growing. As city cars, these are so good and efficient, everybody will want one. The demand far surpasses the production of all the electric cars. And the cheap Chinese cars aren't even here yet. Wait till BYD, NIO, and so many others will come and offer 25k cars that could outrun a 35k-40k gas car.

      @@bytemark6508 I guess many Tesla killers on the way. Tesla is now like BlackBerry. Old hat, right?

    • @ShealeysGarage
      @ShealeysGarage  2 роки тому

      My reply was performance oriented in nature, not sales, business, or market related. Tesla is a juggernaut of electric manufacturing…more so they are becoming the Amazon of the “green” automotive industry. The only companies that I see perishing in the future, are those that don’t adapt to the ever changing times and demand for less environmentally taxing vehicles.

    • @bytemark6508
      @bytemark6508 2 роки тому

      @@jimcmf2 I suppose my reply was too long.. There is no such thing as a "Tesla killer", and it's not because I'm a Tesla fan. First of all, if Tesla is anything, it's the new thing, it's the Apple of cars, not the Blackberry. In a world of smartphones, A bunch of companies make smarthpones running Android. Did any of them killed iPhones? No, and it won't. Apple, just like Tesla, are pushing for innovation. And they have a cult like following. Are you saying Gm has electric cars using their own charging network, remove all buttons in the car (remember the first iPhone without headphone jack?), and using software to update the performance of the car? What other car company does that?
      But like I said, even if Tesla will eventually hold only 10% of the EV market, that's still going to be a lot of cars sold, when the global market is around 200 million cars a year. How many people will still buy a gasoline Toyota Corolla in 2030, when the price of gas is $20 per gallon and the starting price of a non -Tesla cheap EV is 10k? If you don't see that happening, you're not reading the data.
      I guess you were just trolling, but dude, you are wrong on so many levels.
