I grew up listening an watching country music shows like He Haw and Opry my Momma was from a small town in SW Virginia and adored them all , Brenda Lee is a Great singer that I will respect and admire my whole life
Lord, she still has her accent and slight yodel going on...very country...wow. Love her so much, from the start. She inspired me to sing on stage, though nowhere near her....I did indeed, sing and hope to be as good as Brenda Lee, though no one can come near her. Always a fan.
You've missed a lot by not having to "endure" this woman's music. She could, and did, sing everything and charted hits for 5 decades. Let's see is anyone else ever comes close to that...she's the only woman in both the country music and rock and roll hall of fame...and according to Billboards historian from 1960-69 she was the fourth most charted singer (after The Beatles, Elvis Presley, and Ray Charles) Her magic might not always come across on your computer. Her voice and the way she sings is unbelievable! She recorded many, many really great songs that were never put out as singles. And for you critics, John Lennon said in an interview in Rolling Stone magazine that Brenda Lee, "had the greatest voice in rock and roll".
Brenda Lee is my favourite female singer of all time. Absolutely fantastic. She loves to sing although she looks uncomfortable here. I think that she wants to get back into her jeans and vest♥️ she's not 4 years old 🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️
John1948TwoB1b, thank you so much for sharing this video. Strong, clear, distinctive, and on key! I've always loved Brenda's voice. Little Miss Dynamite is her well-deserved nickname.
Excellent in all respects. The video & bio are wonderful. Oldies radio should play more of her great work. Some of the classic country still do. Many *********************
I get the impression she is being strongly coached here ... in other clips of her from this era she seems freer and much more expressive, here she sings great but she seems stiff and careful in her movements.
If you look at the video "Brenda Lee on the Ozark Jubilee (1957) Complete Show" you will notice grown women dancers on that show are dressed almost identically to how Brenda Lee is dressed here...
ronleon62 .... maybe she is "sexualized" too young but who would want that singing talent to not be profitable and beneficial to her and her family at the time.
ronleon62 "fifth" may be your honest opinion, but top strong of a word from my perspective. If it was only about money, the situation could have been made a lot more more undesirable.
@@ron5vin what?! Brenda Lee was always a lady..always dressed decent.. Her voice did not need sex to sell a record..in those days we dressed decent and acted like ladies not full of tattoos and a filthy mouth to match..
No! She wasn't in her teens! She was only about 11 years old then, 12 in December! They are NOT passing her off! Try reading the comments, which will give you some idea of what a splash she was back then! I suppose if I showed you a video of Madelyn Fossum, you'd try to claim SHE was a teenager dressed as a little girl! Check the facts first!
Too bad this was staged with her intentionally moving as little as possible, and stepping forward then back again at the end so impassively. I wish she'd been able to show more facial expressions and move around with enjoyment. She was already a show biz pro by this time so she could've done it easily.
They both had very long, very successful careers ... and they both had reputations for being very generous down to earth performers ..... show biz is full of jerks but neither of them ever were.
i am glad i didn't have to endure this woman's music, I was born in '67 and never knew who she was my whole life until today when i was forceably ear raped by that crap "Sweet Nothings" while sitting in McDonalds. " Ugh, what a horrible song.
Well, I never liked 'Sweet Nothings' either, but it is unfair to judge her on just one song. Listen to "I'm Sorry," "Losing You," "All Alone Am I," "I Want to Be Wanted," among others. She charted many times in the late '50s and early '60s. She is also a very nice, generous person. Read her bio, "Little Miss Dynamite." I have to laugh at the arrogant know-nothings who were born and raised after the beginning of our culture's long, slow decline on many fronts, not just popular music. And what kind of crap do YOU like? Your presence at crappy McD's speaks volumes about your taste!
Too bad for you, loveunbound. Compared to singers today, she is my hero. And the 'Sweet Nothings' song is special as it really captures the emotions and culture of the fifties and early sixties. You were privy to a real treat when played this song for you in the magic Kingdom of McDonalds.
Lets see, you are about 47 years old and yet still an immature idiot who hasn't matured in 40 some years. You are as stupid as you can get and its my guess you were born that way. What I cannot discern is, by your moniker, if you are a stupid little girl or a stupid little boy!!!
Люблю- обожаю эту девочку!! Талант!!!!!! Живи долго и счастливо!!!!
She's absolutely brilliant, amazing, talented and accomplished.
How many children of that age can even sing in tune?

Cuteness overload here love Brenda Lee so cute, the dress was made for made for like alot of her outfits were, when she was kid.
That precious country accent! I just love this performance.
12 лет- талант- вундеркинд. Люблю тебя - маленькая девочка.
I love that she does a little dance, so cute.

No autotune--no digital edits--just that VOICE 111

Eso si era cantó! 👏
She started out singing at a very young age. She will be admired for years.

Linda, Hermosa.
Zer sun !
Ok…they dressed her goofy and gave her some unnatural moves. Nevertheless…her voice fills all the gaps! She is so great!
Fabuleuse ...
You're welcome, Shizue. I enjoy sharing.

2015: What have we became?
+Fr Louie Goad My thoughts exactly. Today, only filth sells.

Wow Dinah Shore looks so young.
She first gained fame back in radio days singing on Eddie Cantor"s program among others ... she was already a well established star by this time.
Brenda Lee born 1944-she's 12 years old here
Sorry 11 years old!
Бренда родилась в 1944 году -. Здесь ей 12 лет.
Tengo 22 años y no conozco a nadie de mi edad que le guste esta música en la actualidad, saludos de chile!
doodle bugs wasnt a R&blues group ?

Vestido de menina de 12 anos sem artifícios.Cabelinho ao natural. Somente a voz. Que tempos.
Honeycomb
did bruce lee know her. or where did brandon come from?
Old Dinah should be nervous, Brenda was a better singer at 12 then Dinah could ever hope to be.
They both had very long, very successful careers ... and they both had reputations for being very generous down to earth performers ..... show biz is full of jerks but neither of them ever were.
@@jfuzz9083 Nobody is arguing that point. All I said was Brenda Lee was a way better performer than Dinah Shore.
The pauses in her singing and lack of movement is off putting. Her later stuff is better.
Stop..she is only a child, no need to credesize the little girl. .some people always finding fault.. like they could do better.
She is 12 yrs old and looks as uncomfortable as hell.

Every thing Brenda Lee has ever done eclipses your life's best efforts.
