Kinda skeptical about this game, I played the second of this series for years, it was a charming game. This is nothing like any sort of charming, and they even used the same background music... Kinda like the first attempt of an indie studio, it's just bland.
I love IG2 and i must admit this looks exactly like you described it.

I used to play Industry Giant and Industry Giant 2 back in the -90's.
This new edition feels nothing like them.
It's not the same company. Not sure if it's the same dev team. Could just be a completely different group stumbling upon a potential copyright lawsuit. I dunno.
Apparently, the "4.0" in the name isn't supposed to be like "fourth game in a series", but rather refer to Industry 4.0 (i.e. the digital revolution). As for copyright, that was why they stopped naming game series things like "Railroad Tycoon" - anyone can make a game with a name like that. You can copyright, say, "Galacticare", though.
I wouldn't say it's "Nothing like them", though. If the original devs kept making games, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a game like this. It lacks polish, but do you remember IG1? It was a lot worse :D
I was excited for this game since I had played and Industry Giant in the past. Now that I have seen this, it is a great disappointment for me and from seeing this, I will not be getting this.
This game has a long way to go to match games like transport fever, mashinky, captain of industry and rise of industry. I really liked IG2 from many years ago, but this new one has a lot of competition.
Personally i feel games like this have a really big issue with working out how ‘relative distance’ compared to the real world works. This video gives the impression all industries are next almost door.

what do you expect from the goverment (did you think they picked the best planer, or one of their mates that saed they could do it for them with a nice kick back).
I'm pretty sure the issue with the trains was that they have to return to the depot after each trip and there was no path from the sawmill to the depot. Just a guess though.
