When I was in kindergarten we came back from Christmas break and a classmate said he's gotten a PlayStation for Christmas. I had no idea what a video game was and imagined this interactive "station" for children to physically play in/with. A year later my brother and I received one. Crash Bandicoot, Star Wars, Frogger...a whole new world of imagination, peace, memory...
My first exposure to Playstation was through the magazine my dad would bring us. I'd marvel at the ads for all these new games, and wish I could play them. It wasn't long before I actually got the chance-- mostly through demo disks that came free with the magazines back then. Sadly, I didn't get to play many of the classics (Ape Escape, MediEvil, Abe's Odyssey, Silent Hill, FF7-9) until well into the PS2 era, and, with some of them, even later than that, and only through emulators. But, Playstation, N64, and Super Nintendo are basically the pinnacle of nostalgia for me, and every time I start up one of those old games, it brings me back to those simpler times, where I was first introduced to the concept of survival horror, and the demo for Silent Hill scared me more than anything I'd ever witnessed up to that point, where my little brother and I would waste away our weekends playing Tekken 2, and where I laughed at Crash's victory dance.

My buddy fired up the simulator for space invaders the other day and we also played Star wars jedi power battles and star wars episode one.
It actually makes me sad how much lack of gaming lofi music there is.. so much potential.. From the tenchu soundtrack.. to parasite eve.. to legend of dragoon.. final fantasy.. resident evil? Bruh. The chrono cross dead sea sent chills down my spine and subsequently brought me to tears.. I played this game religiously with my older brother who I barely see or talk to anymore. Brings me back to a time before I was wrought with anxiety, depression, hopelessness. Not a worry in the entire world, just staying up late on summer nights and loving life. I miss those days so much.
