Lawrence Adisa hey brother, I don't know why I just found this. I cannot tell you how happy that makes me to know that this video helped you. Congratulations and thank you for your service. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Have a great day. Tom
Tom, Just wanted to thank you for coming up with this great Workout! I did your workout for 2 months and passed the cpat test with flying colors, 8:20 time. I was a little worried in the beginning but stuck with it using a 60lb vest and like you said kept pushing myself! I also dropped 15 ponds and 5 inches off my waist! I'm in the best shap of my life at age 50!
Im 41, and I just passed my first CPAT test today in Orange. Going into this test I didnt attend the orientation or participate in any of the available practice tests that were provided. The staff member that was my shadow through the test was not enthusiast about my chances. I just remember assuring him that I would do fine. This was true becasue a huge part of my conditioning was working out with these videos. Thank you very much for these. They are an amazing tool. BTW, I used a 70 lb vest throughout all workouts. This helped as the 50 lb vest during all but the first stairmaster exercise was much easier.
They let you test even though you’re over 36? The reason I ask is because I’m coming close to the age limit myself. I’m in Texas so maybe the age limit is different here than elsewhere.
I just did my test twice this week and failed. Then I came across this video. Im so happy I found it Ill be following your workouts till next year when I pass.
I earned my CPAT certificate today and I owe a lot or credit to this training program right here. It allowed me to familiarize myself with events and make it a very smooth process for me. My only suggestion would be to train on a stair stepper instead of the box jump.
I'm 30 years old, I just quit smoking, been smoking since I was 12, I'm looking to get into fire school and I haven't worked out in about 5 years. With that being said I have 6 months before I start fire school and I'm starting my training today. Any recommendations? I have the drive to succeed.
Passed mine here in Allentown PA on Feb 5th! Had 9n a half minutes left when I entered the maze. That only took 3! Thanks a lot! Used this for only 2 in a half weeks
when i started first took the cpat practice i couldnt finish the stairs at all but truly with the help of method i passed today in 8 mins. this really works. thanks for the advice
I use cadence breathing. Try to breath in a rhythm or a pattern. Every now and then take a deep breath and then get back into the pattern. It keeps oxygen flowing to the muscles.
Yes Sir! Still Getn it in!! 3rd to be sure...much appreciated Sir for this workout session!! Osu! Only at the rip ol' age if 40,pursuing my Future in the FD, thanks and Praise to Jesus Christ my King
Jeremy and Caleb, I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear that my BEAT THE CPAT program helped you. You both should be very proud of yourselves. Your hard work payed off. I know you will both be great firefighters. Thank you for your device and keep up the great work. Tom
Hey buddy, I used 25 pound dumbbells and 50 pound kettle bell. But make sure you use whatever weight it works for you. You can always add weight if you start off a lighter. Please let me know your score. Congratulations
doing your workout my cpat is july 12th and i do the exercises 1 minute each hope to pass the test been 5 weeks of training so far! plus i add the incline treadmill for 10 mins at 13% grade will give update
I failed my CPAT yesterday. I thought I was in pretty good shape working out for a month and a half doing the stair masters working on endurance and cardio with circuit training with weighted vest. Idk what happened yesterday when it came to the stairs and their weighted vest it honestly felt like the first time I’ve ever done the stairmaster before. I fell off due to unable to keep my balance and keeping up with the paste of the stairmaster. I will definitely challenge your workout, next test date May 20th with a practice run.
DO NOT GIVE UP. The stairs and the dummy grab are big challenges in this test. Try to angle your feet slightly outward. Place your foot on the stair as flat as possible. Instead of pushing off with your toes try to ride the machine down. This can help save energy. Remember that is about one step per second. Try to find a stair master Tom train on. You will do great.
Sir, I've been looking at your videos and I really appreciate this training program. I was wondering what that breathing technique is that you were talking about? I honestly feel like my breathing is improper and won't let me push myself to 100%
Passed my cpat a few weeks ago thanks to you! Just wondering if you have any advice on training to get ready for the firefighter 1&2 training? Thank you!
Great job brother. I would say stick to a similar routine but I know a lot of the Academy is also academic so you will have to balance your time. You will do great.
Should these types of exercises be used only to train for the CPAT test…or can it be used as a weekly ordinary workout at home for strength/endurance training. I’m a skinny guy 5”5 125lb and looking to build some strength/muscle , but Because of COVID I’m still looking to work out at home, and not at a gym.
For the practice test I would rest as little as possible. When you take the cPat you will get about 15 seconds in between each obstacle to walk from one to the other.
Hi Tom, just wondering if you’ve done the CPAT recently yourself after creating this video? I’m wondering if I am able to match your pace, what sort of pass time I’d expect on the test. Thanks again for making this video - cheers!
I did my test today and timed out during my last set of pull downs. Taking this workout to heart now and I know I’ll be able to do this. Any tips on shaving some time off? Thanks
Imuzi I know that you wish you didn’t have to take the test again. However, I really believe that this program will help you. You are very close already in this will help get you there. Do your best to follow it strictly as possible. Making any adjustments you need as far as weight or movement depending on your situation. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any advice. You will do great. Tom
PWR Training Thank you for the words of encouragement. I’ve managed to get a weighted vest and having done the workout a couple times now with it I can see a definitive difference. I got this
Imuzi Hey brother, I really believe that if you just follow the workout program in the calendar as close as possible you will nail it. I have had others do this and had total success. The key is to really be strict about it and follow the calendar. Please contact me if you have any questions. I know you’ll do great.
Hey I really appreciate this video. Very helpful. So I practiced at the station and my time was over by 2 minutes but the real test is in about a month in a half. From today til the test, I believe I can pass and I will pass but my question is, what is the amount of times I should train with this video a week?
Some firefighters were at a street fair like a year ago. I talked to one of them. But I don't know when the right time is to do it. They said they have a program for younger people like me at one of the volunteer fire department.
Lovelytee 05 I am sorry that I just saw this text. How is your training doing. There is a calendar on beat the CPAT part two. Please contact me at tom@tomstroup.com if you have any questions
Passed my CPAT today in Orange County! Thanks to you Tom and your training videos! So glad I found you on youtube!

Just passed my CPAT today in Colorado Springs! So glad I found this video! Thank you!
That is awesome. Great job. You can be proud of yourself. Glad I could help just a little bit.
Don't give up. No matter how hard or how long it takes. You can do it.

David Turner that is fantastic to hear. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your success. Congratulations. Great job.

Took my CPAT today and passed with 7 seconds left. Wouldn’t have done it without doing this practice text over and over!
Great job. Congratulations

As a volunteer firefighter I’m applying for the career firefighter job. I have to take practicals in November
Nicole Raines that is fantastic please let me know if I can help.
I will do thank you!
I took the practice this evening and failed. It's tough and I now have 3 weeks to train

John Crant Thank you very much. I am glad to hear it.
That is great advice. I agree with you if you have a stairstepper that would be perfect. Congratulations. Great work.

How’d it go now?
Start my cpat orientation on the 3rd im excited

If you go to PWR training UA-cam channel look for beat the CPAT part one and there will be a calendar on their explaining everything.
Great work brother. Congratulations
On the rescue exercise when you squat you're rolling up on your toes and your feet are very narrow. Is there a reason behind that?
Passed my cpat a few weeks ago thanks to you! Just wondering if you have any advice on training to get ready for the firefighter 1&2 training? Thank you!
Great job brother. I would say stick to a similar routine but I know a lot of the Academy is also academic so you will have to balance your time. You will do great.
@@PWRtraining Will do! Thanks again!
What is the recommended weight for the dumbbell, weighted backpack and the kettle bell? Thanks!

Absolutely. These are designed to be at home workouts. Have fun
Do you use any specific app of some sort to build a timer for each test? That’s the only question I have about the execution of this text.
Nameless UA-camr “seconds free” app
Hey Tom! I’m wondering if you know the time that should be taken between obstacles to mimic walking to the next obstacle? Not sure if I missed it
Never mind! Seems to be 15 seconds between each of them!
For the practice test I would rest as little as possible. When you take the cPat you will get about 15 seconds in between each obstacle to walk from one to the other.

Last time I ran the CPAT test I ran it and just over 8 minutes. It was when I made these videos.
Hey Tom! Thank you so much for these videos! Passed the Calgary CPAT in 8:21!
That is so cool. Congratulations. Great job and welcome to your new career. You will do great.
Do you recommend box step ups over a stair master or is either fine?
407 Highlights if you have a stairmaster that would be perfect.
Hi I love this workout 🏋🏼♀️
Can’t wait to pass 😛
May I ask where can I get that sandbag?
#ShoutOUT4RMCHiCAGO
P.S. My Child Uses My UA-cam haha 😅
You will do great. Sorry to say but we no longer sell that product
Trey if you go to the "beat the cpat part one" you will find a 30 day calendar outlining all of the workout days.
Hey Tom and anyone else reading, looking at weight vests on ZFO and getting ready for CPAT. Should I go for the 70lb weight vest for training? Thanks!
brian mauldin that is heavy.
I did my test today and timed out during my last set of pull downs. Taking this workout to heart now and I know I’ll be able to do this. Any tips on shaving some time off? Thanks

PWR Training completed the test no problem and with lots of time to spare. Thanks so much for this workout

Imuzi Great job. Congratulations.
PWR TRAINING are both the workout and practice test designed for us to do by following along with your videos?
It is a 30 day program that can be repeated as often as needed...tom
What timer do you use for your workouts?
Seconds pro. I love it.
How much weigh of kettle bell should I use?
Whatever you are comfortable with. It should not be too heavy and it should not be too light.
How can I get a hold of one of those sandbags?
I am sorry to say that we no longer manufacture that product.
Ok thank you 👍
@@PWRtraining are there any other sandbags with the same shoulder strap style that you'd recommend?
Not that I am aware of
What brand of sandbag is that??
I am sorry to say that we do not manufacture this bag any longer

From today til the test, I believe I can pass and I will pass but my question is, what is the amount of times I should train with this video a week?
I didn't wanna burn myself out or hurt myself before the actual exam. Thank you again for this helpful video
good luck man!!
I'm gonna be turning 14 in July and want to start training to be a firefighter. What's a good way for me to do that.
president leachim that is very cool. Have you been to your local fire department and spoke to any of the firefighters
Some firefighters were at a street fair like a year ago. I talked to one of them. But I don't know when the right time is to do it. They said they have a program for younger people like me at one of the volunteer fire department.
Michael Cousens I would definitely go by their station. They would love to talk to you.
I was checking this website out for the CT volunteer departments.
When I start working out for it can I just use my backpack with my stuff in it.
what kind of timer is that and where do I get one?
Josh Alston I use an app on my iPhone called "Seconds free"
What is the difference in part one and part two ?
Cody and Sam part one is the workout and part two is the practice test
what app do you use for the timer
Trevor Knudsen seconds free
How often should we do the work outs?
I'm in the same boat. I say we should do this workout at least 3 times a week
