The Swing Of The Latin Bass by Ray Ramírez
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 чер 2021
- I invite you to watch the presentation, The Swing of The Latin Bass, to which I was invited for the ISB 2021 Convention of the International Society of Bassists, which took place from June 8 to 12, 2021 at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln School of Music.
Corrections:
1) There is a printing error in the chords progressions of the Descarga and Rumba examples 2, 3 and 4. I overlooked it and hadn't noticed. The Chord Progression for all this examples is C7 in the 4 bars like in example 1.
2) 16:50 Cha-cha-cha, example 3, under E flat there should be no dot.

As a child I was always going to my brothers rehearsals.. he passed away and I inherited his 60s Ampeg AEB-1 and BB Bass. I enjoy your lessons and bringing me the memories..
gracias!
Very helpful as a white guy trying to learn the distinctions between all the different Latin styles
same boat but I also need to learn to play the bass lines
Thanks so much for this awesome lesson. I'm a brazilian bassist currently stuying latin rythms. Keep up!
¡Muchas gracias, señor Ramírez!
Mr. Ramirez, thank you so much for this and your other videos. For a gringo like me, it helps a lot learning this music to hear the bass without the other instruments. It trains my ear to pick out the lines I hear in the full mixes.
Thanks Jimmy for your comments. Yes I decided to play them alone to help the bassist see the actual fingering and positions that I use to play the exercises. Then you can choose any fingering or position that you find more comfortable for you.
The Ampeg BB-4 baby bass was a staple in every orquesta salsera I ever saw and now it's extremely hard to come by. Most I've seen online are in bad shape....at least cosmetically. Ray Ramirez has been the saving grace for Latin bajistas everywhere with his traditional designs.
Ive never seen anybody use harmonics on an upright bass. Very impressive technique
Literally one of the best bass lessons of my life. Thank you!
Thank you my brother, I'm a newbie to the bass, so I'm very excited to learn from experienced teachers like you.
Tremendo Ray !

16:50 Cha-cha-cha, example 3, under Eb there should be no dot. At least it's what is being played.
Hi Dat, Thanks for your correction. You are completely right. I hope that apart from the dot, the workshop had been of interest and instructive for you.
@@rayramirez938 Oh yes, will be definitely practicing these.
